Happened to stumble on to this place passing through town. Glad I did. Great food!
We celebrated my birthday here!! My husband and 2 kids thoroughly enjoyed every bite!! The waiter was knowledgeable and was very careful about my food allergies!!
AMAZING!! My husband and I tried this for our 20th anniversary and it was PERFECT! The food was perfect and the waiter did an excellent job! We felt spoiled and enjoyed ourselves very much!
Great experience. Creative and accommodating menu for vegetarian. Not what I would call child friendly (no high chairs) but they were very understanding :)
This restaurant used to be our go to date night spot but over the past years the experience and the quality of food has just gone downhill
Great food, great drinks, great service. Our most recent visit was on a Saturday night and the dining room was pretty packed and noisy, but it was still enjoyable. We were lucky to have Carl as our server, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the menu items. Can't wait to go back!
I have an awesome foodie friend, and the two of us have a bit of a competition to see who finds the best venue for our birthday celebrations. John Jeffries absolutely hit it out of the park for us! The food was amazing, the cocktails outstanding, and our wonderful server knew the details of every single menu selection and was very helpful with his recommendations. The complementary birthday dessert came with a candle and a wish! We were totally impressed, and look forward to out next experience there.
Wonderful as always! Still wished they served sparkling water, and butter with their amazing breads, but service is wonderful except grumpy seating girl.
My husband and I, along with two grown up kids who were visiting from out of town, ate here last week. Three of us are omnivores, and our daughter is a vegan (and I had indicated that on the reservation). The meat-eaters were very happy and satisfied, but for a vegan there was little choice and no attempt on the chef's part to accommodate all that much, which was a disappointment. The only vegetarian dish on the menu, the Dosa (which I have eaten myself several times) is not all that creative, unfortunately, and as it has butter sauce in it, we asked that it come out "dry" which made it even less interesting. Another reviewer wrote that in his/her experience the chef sent out a vegan 'amuse" for one of their party who did not eat meat/dairy, but that did not happen for us. On the plus side, the water buffalo, scallop "BLT" and Jim Bim Bop were quite enjoyable as was the soup duo and dessert. Service is great...ambiance is good (though the entrance into the restaurant could be off-putting--does not do the place justice)...and food is great for meat-eaters. Vegans and vegetarians will want to look elsewhere.
The meal and service was very good. Our server was very good and funny. Great Celebration!!
The dining experience from start to finish was outstanding. Eclectic choices in both small and large plates with clear explanations from our server, Carl. He was attentive without being obtrusive. Great ambiance in a beautiful setting. Looking forward to a return visit.
We really enjoyed our date at John J Jeffries. The food is delicious and the servers are very helpful and kind. They have an interesting range of food on offer, so if you're feeling adventurous there is definitely a number of options for you but there also some standard options as well. Definitely worth a visit and I'm sure we'll be back!
Outstanding food and service. My favorite restaurant!
Our first time at JJJ, we were so thrilled. We shared the cheese plate and the steak tartare for apps. I ordered the salmon and my wife got the pork belly with smoked scallop and fried green tomato.
The salmon was great but the pork belly was amazing! Wow!!
We can't wait to go back when we are in Lancaster again.
We were able to sit out on the patio and it we so relaxing and quiet.
We were very comfortable in the shade. Not many people were out so it was more of our own little private party, which was so perfect.
Our waiter/and other staff were very attentive and answered questions, made the experience fun, talkative but not intrusive.
The food was excellent and presentation was exquisite!
My wife and I always celebrate our anniversary with a dinner at this fine establishment. It is, by far, our "meal of the year"! The food is fresh, creative, and generously portioned. The staff is attentive to detail and ensures that you are well taken care of. The Honey-Lavender Creme Brulee is out-of-this-world as well as the scallops, Jim-Bim-Bop, and Roasted Clam and Corn Chowder. You will not be disappointed by John J. Jeffries.
We purposely arrived early to enjoy a drink at the bar before our dinner reservation. Tried something new this time - Basil Lemondrop Martini. Delicious! My husband enjoyed his regular 'Old Wilson'. We really like the bar ambiance - bartenders are terrific and mix some tasty cocktails. We decided to try a few small plates to share for dinner Saturday night instead of each getting a specific entrée. The meatballs are to die for, the Jim Bim Bop was as tasty as ever, and the shanker tacos were tender and wonderful. Sharing the small plates left plenty of room for dessert which included an ice cream sampler and lavender crème brulee. We enjoyed talking with our server - we've been lucky to be seated at his tables in the past (so very sorry - his name is escaping me at the moment, but he's tall, bald, and wears glasses. Great guy!). He always has great recommendations and equally good conversation. We highly recommend John Jeffries for a special occasion or just to enjoy a unique night out on the town.
Delicious food and great service. It's a nice special-event option or just a Saturday night out. We'll definitely go back!
I travel extensively, this is at the quality of the Gotham Bar and Grill in NYC
We definitely recommend John Jeffries. The server was friendly and well informed. Our food was excellent. The presentation was lovely. Our appetizers and entrees were absolutely delicious!
Phenomenal meal, well crafted and beautiful presentation. From the very knowledgeable, yet completely relate-able bartender to the friendly and efficient service staff this really was a wonderful experience. The food is incredible and the effort to represent local producers and out of the ordinary menu selections is carried out with precision. Thank you for a great experience and we look forward to getting back.
The food was good. But the server was very rude.
Our meal was excellent! Large and small plates, drinks, dessert and coffee were amazing.
We read about JJJ in the book Craft Beef and wanted to give it a shot. My Negroni was perfect (as promised). My wife & I started with small plates of Tartar & the scallop BLT, then moved on to a tenderloin from the local water buffalo (oh - hell - yeah!) and jerked turkey thigh. For dessert, we had the ice cream trio & Crème Brule, with their damn good - and it was - cup of joe. Everything was shared and all of it was scrumptious. Service was just right...humorous, knowledgeable, and timely without being overpresent. We didn't feel rushed and spent almost two hours enjoying our meal from the first sip of our cocktails to the final swig of coffee.
Constructive criticism: booths would be appreciated to make it a more intimate dining experience, plus the walls of booths would baffle the conversations of those few errant guests who need to be noised-damped....or fit them with muzzles and offer a complimentary straw.
An overall wonderful dining experience. Very classy and the food was outstanding. My husband, who is typically a picky eater, loved everything he had. He even commented the next day that his meal was really exceptional. We will return!
We ate in the bar since we arrived a few minutes early and they don’t seat you in the dining room until 5:30 exactly
Enjoyed wine and small plates
It was our first time to jjj and we LOVED it! We recieved a warm greeting as we arrived and they were kind enough to set us up outside since it was a gorgeous evening. Our server was Carl and he was very knowledgeable of the menu and very pleasant. We loved our shrimp cucumber salad for appetizer and my husband loved the beef for main entree and I enjoyed the white salmon special. Unfortunately, we did not have room for dessert but we will be back and save room next time. Cocktails were delicious as well and would highly recommend this restaurant. It was delicious and healthy! WIN/WIN!!!
Despite a strong evening sunset directly in my eyes, the patio was a great place to be on a beautiful evening. Hunter provided great service even though he was responsible for quite a few tables on the patio. Interesting drinks and entrees--especially like the small plates, as I often feel like less that a full size dinner. My pork could have been cooked a bit more as it was quite rare for the "Medium" that I had ordered. Still, a reliable bet for a great meal....we'll be back.
We had an excellent dinner experience here. Service was great, food was excellent. It's a nice space.
First time here and we were not disappointed. Great food and drinks. I like to order out of the norm dishes so I I started with smoke trout ceasar salad which was excellent ( not your typical dressing ) and had the pheasant for dinner. Nicely plated and delicious.
We had a dinner for 8 and they crushed it! Just go! Beef Tar Tar was amazing.
I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. The food was delicious. The artisan cheese plate appetizer had the best Bleu Cheese I have ever had anywhere. The entrees were well proportioned and prepared with true care.
The staff at the restaurant made us welcome right from the start and all through the meal. They were attentive without hovering. It was interesting to watch the entire staff work together as a well practiced team.
We will definitely go back, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Would have given 5 but the chairs are so uncomfortable. Wicker chairs don't belong in a fine restaurant at least get pillow pads.
We had an amazing dinning experience!! The food was fabulous and the prices are fair! I would eat here every week if only I lived closer!!
The service was exceptional, and I mean exceptional. Had a very nice meal. The menu was fine dining without being too foo-foo or pretentious. I highly recommend it for a special dinner (i.e. anniversary). It is certainly one of the very best restaurants in Lancaster, and the the service is second to none.
The service, ambiance, attention to detail, and pricing structure was fantastic. Small intimate dining space with very attentive wait staff , service without suffocating us. Service was timely and exact. The appetizer was great (we chose the Surf and Turf which was a plate of shaved beef and scallops served raw). For dinner my wife had grilled Arctic Char with quinoa and lentil pilaf which was perfect and I had the Lil Ponderosa grilled beef plate with fried potatoes and fresh broccoli. The sirloin was served exactly as I asked (medium rare). It was very tasty but a bit tough. Perhaps I got unlucky with a tough piece of beef. It was tasty enough to give it another try.
We absolutely loved our experience. This was our first visit and we were so impressed from start to finish.
Best Restaurant in Lancaster. Eaten here many times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. 5 Stars!!
As always, JJJ is the best restaurant in Lancaster. The food is creative, delicious and beautiful. The service is quiet, yet outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant over and over.
Delicious fresh original fare. Interesting twists to locally available foods. Attentive waiter, but not intrusive. Lavender creme brûlée was tops. Chocolate/ peanut butter cake just okay. All made in house.
