We hadn't been to John Bentley's in a while and were thrilled we went over the holidays. The food and service were both outstanding. Each of us in our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Gluten Free Chocolate Cake was to die for - particularly appreciated by those with gluten intolerance. Sad to see such a quality restaurant close in spring after so many great years on the Peninsula.
Food here rarely disappoints. The watermelon crab appetizer is delicious and fresh. Fish is fresh and we'll prepared. Intimate atmosphere. Great martinis.
John Bentley's didn't disappoint! Four of us had a delicious dinner and a very special evening. Two of us had the asparagus soup. It was a tad bit bland and could have been warmer. The other two had wedge salads and they were very tasty and a good sized salad.
Two of us had the sea bass, one person had scallops and the other, sweet breads. ALL of us loved our meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing was overdone. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and a pear dessert. Everything was spot on.
Disappointing. Striped bass was over cooked. Small portions. Took one hour to get served. All entrees didn’t come at the same time.
