This is among the best three restaurants on the peninsula! If John Bentley's closes down, I sure hope he will sell a cookbook...or open another restaurant!.

Always perfect. I have two favorites, scallops and pork chops. So hard to decide!

Excellent food and just the right portions. We enjoyed the hangar steak and salmon as our entrees and the dessert special of bread pudding was delicious!!

We hadn't been to John Bentley's in a while and were thrilled we went over the holidays. The food and service were both outstanding. Each of us in our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Gluten Free Chocolate Cake was to die for - particularly appreciated by those with gluten intolerance. Sad to see such a quality restaurant close in spring after so many great years on the Peninsula.

Food here rarely disappoints. The watermelon crab appetizer is delicious and fresh. Fish is fresh and we'll prepared. Intimate atmosphere. Great martinis.

John Bentley's didn't disappoint! Four of us had a delicious dinner and a very special evening. Two of us had the asparagus soup. It was a tad bit bland and could have been warmer. The other two had wedge salads and they were very tasty and a good sized salad.
Two of us had the sea bass, one person had scallops and the other, sweet breads. ALL of us loved our meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing was overdone. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and a pear dessert. Everything was spot on.

Disappointing. Striped bass was over cooked. Small portions. Took one hour to get served. All entrees didn’t come at the same time.

Dinner 2 weeks ago, lunch yesterday---always excellent and part of the classic traditional dining on the Peninsula without being stuffy or phony. I had the grilled watermelon/avacado salad it was delish!!

Wow! This place is consistently outstanding for a restaurant on the Peninsula. I live in SF and nothing compares to the service and quality level. So sad they will be closing in early 2018 for redevelopment of the location into housing. A BIG loss.

Excellent as always. Feel like I'm going back to a happier, classier time, when a great restaurant and delicious food with fine service was attainable without today's phony attitude.

Please don't close !

This is and always has been one of the very best restaurants in Bay Area. Period! The only problem, folks, is that John Bentley is going to retire in April which the entire world seems to know. So if you've never been, hurry up. If you have been before, hurry up. It will be a very sad day when we no longer can enjoy the wonderful experience of dining at John Bentley's.

John Bentley prepares the best meals on the peninsula. It is our family’s favorite restaurant for special occasions such as anniversaries and graduations. The staff is terrific and they always remember your name. Everything is terrific but the hanger steak, day boat scallops and pork chop are great. For desserts try the apple crisp or sticky toffee pudding. Nice wine list.

Fantastic experience!
The food was creative, fresh and delicious. The service was wonderful and the ambiance delightful.
We really enjoyed finding this new experience and look forward to coming back and bringing friends. It was honestly the first restaurant in a longtime that surprized me!

first timer at JBs. wife and i chose for a milestone year birthday. had a deuce table near the front.

overall, giving it 4 stars. we have high expectations as foodies. the porkchop delivered but the fish was a little overcooked for our tastes, which knocked our rating down to a 4 overall.

service was top shelf and attentive.

desserts were tasty and well portioned. sipped some well balanced Bordeaux throughout the meal, from chop to choc pudding cake.

the other factor that brought JBs to a 4 was the unusually dim lighting and a hint of fish smell that washed over ua upon entering the restaurant.

guess we have sensitive noses and prefer a brighter atmosphere.

will return at some point but lots of other resties to explore b4 doing so.

In the course of many visits, John Bentley's has never disappointed me. The food, service, and ambience consistently create a very special experience . Most recently, I loved the black mission fig/gorgonzola cheese appetizer and the double-cut pork chop was the best I have ever eaten. Anytime, the sticky toffee pudding dessert is a must!

After a business meeting at Rosewood we decided to head over to Bentley’s. We enjoyed Tuna TT, Watermelon Crab Salad, Sweetbreads, Veal Medallions paired with Gls Mas Rose, bttl 2014 Turley ZIN Cedarman Howell Mtn. Excellent service. We learned that Bentley’s will be closing their doors next June 2018.
