    This was our 1st visit and everything was wonderful. The staff was friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for anything. The atmosphere was beautiful as well.

    Well, it was a Sunday night, so not busy at all... Everything went perfectly - unlike other experiences on busy nights, but I digress. Actually, everything went perfectly and I don't understand why the restaurants and movie theaters aren't packed - there's so much here in Sonoma County.

    We had a our server who was so knowledgeable in the entrees, specials, etc. I had a 375 Brut Billecart right off the bat. I heard the special of the night and I told her, I don’t even need to see the menu. I will be having that. We ordered the rolls to start. They were amazing! And our entrées came out. My husband opted for the rack of lamb. I got the special. It was meh Our Server never came back to see if I wanted anything else to drink, wine, cocktail, anything? Or my husband. He had to ask the busser for a new fork after he dropped his. Didn’t see our server anywhere. We had to ask a busser for a coke refill. She never asked how the special was or how my husband’s lamb was. We asked for our bill and my husband just drops his credit card and she took it away. She brought back the receipt and that goodness i looked. It wasn’t our bill! Couldn’t find her. Asked a busser for her. She was at the bar hanging with two people,bartender?/night manager. They took the bill and took it to her. She came back with the correct bill. It was one of the worst server experiences I have encountered aside from them being rude. I don’t normally ever tip less than 20% but I was so disappointed I went 18%. She really seemed nice but definitely not attentive or attention to detail.

    Put us in a back room, service was nice but average at best. Waited long periods of time without seeing anyone… Menu was basically bar menu, I guess Monday,Tuesday are not a full menu… I’ve been here many times with great experiences…. This just wasn’t one of those. The price was typical, $500 for 4 adults and two small children.

    Fabulous wine service- our server brought out Pinot Noir glasses for the bottle we selected, a.nice touch. The food was cooked and seasoned to perfection - nothing additional needed.

    My husband & I love going to John Ash before a show at Luther Burbank. Husband had rack of lamb. Said it was the best he had ever eaten! I had died & turf with potato croquets. The drinks were also delicious. Friday night was very busy. Made service a little slow. Understandable.

    The food and service was excellent, and the ambience was fitting for any special occasion. Our wine was good, but at $20 a glass was commensurate with wines we can selectively buy at $20 a bottle retail. Regarding dessert, there were too many chocolate options and not enough selections without caffeine. Nevertheless, we’ll be back again for a special occasion.

    At least 3 people ordered Halibut all we got was one tiny piece of fish and that was it. You should be ashamed to just serve this alone you should have potatoes and a vegetable. And how come you do not serve bread when you sit down at the table? I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I was completely embarrassed to have brought my friends there from out of town

    Awesome service! And the Filet Mignon was to die for! Sat on the patio, with lots of heaters, but still drafty and not quite a comfortable temperature. Our waitress was so fantastic!

    This restaurant is over priced and mediocre quality for Sonoma county. They were 30 minutes late seating my reservation even tho there were no less than half a dozen empty tables right next to me all night once sat. Service was poor and our table was not addressed for 20 minutes on 2 separate occasions. The online menu is outdated so if you choose this place based on that you will be disappointed. The oysters were low quality, the charcuterie was extremely small portions, lacked variety and vastly over priced for the quantity/quality. I would not dine here again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

    We went for New Year’s Eve. The service was amazing unfortunately the food was not as great. The steak was high quality however, it had no flavor. Nothing was seasoned.

    Have to tell you that we have had dinner here every year on New Year’s Eve for the past 4 years and it’s always been fabulous. This time too the food was fabulous, visually appealing. But my mom & cousin who shared the Oysters were violently sick through the night. But 3 others in the party who did not eat Oysters did great . The wait staff are exceptionally nice and very attentive. We had a great time while we were there .

    Where to start. A prix fixe menu that should have been a bargain basement give away. First the “amuse bouche”. A teaspoon of unadorned Dungeness crab I guess it amused the accounting department but no one else. Then on to an uninspired country pate. No cornichons, but the marinated mushrooms were nice. The then the scallops and lobster “escargot”. This was actually quite tasty with small bites of lobster and scallops in garlic butter sauce served in an escargot dish. And then onto the mains. A few uninspired vegetarian dishes and char or an angus filet. I mistakenly chose the char. It was obviously old almost to the point of spoiled based on both smell and taste and the accompaniments did nothing to abet the foul flavor. My companion had the filet and said it was quite good but then you would have really work to screw up a filet. Finally on to dessert. The choices were meager. A pineapple upside down cake straight out of 1950s Bette Crocker, a chocolate cremeux, again not very inspired, and finally a raspberry mousse. My companion chose the chocolate mousse and pronounced it quite good. Unfortunately I chose the raspberry mousse. I’m pretty sure that raspberry mousse is not supposed to be crunchy but this one was due to undissolved gelatin. Again, not very appealing. Gratefully, that marked the end of the meal.     The beet salad was wonderful. My pork tenderloin was delicious. The chocolate dessert was a perfect ending to the meal. My husband enjoyed his coffee, but not his entrée. He ordered the special, ribeye steak. It was a mistake. That should not be served again. It was cooked properly, but it was very tough, even though he said it tasted like it had been tenderized. It was full of grizzle too. It was not the quality we have come to expect at this restaurant. It lowered my rating because it was such a disappointment. At $55, it was a waste of money.

    The oysters, charcuterie plate, soup and lamb were good. However the two orders of scallops and one order of halibut ran from just okay, somewhat tasteless, halibut to the nearly unpalatable scallops with pork belly. We will probably not have dinner here again. On the upside the waitstaff was flawless. The new chef is not comparable to the last one and John Ash would be so disappointed to have his name associated with the food served.

    Food was just mediocre. Service was fantastic. I have been here many times and the food has always been impressive and this time it was lacking the normal impressive taste. Only the bar menu was available….so that was also a little disappointing.

    My wife and I had a most wonderful dining experience this Christmas Eve at John Ash. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and we sat in our favorite Fireplace Room. The wait staff was very attentive and professional. Our meal was just superb from start to finish. The carpaccio with the Parmesan cream and fried capers followed by baked oysters, which was a masterful twist on the “Rockefeller,” were the finest lead up to the garlic and herb crusted rack of lamb. The Duckhorn, “Discussion” we shared was the perfect wine pairing for the entire meal. It was the most wonderful dining we can recall in a very long time. Thank you,

    With no family around this year we decided to go to John Ash for Christmas Eve. Our server made an old ladies’ experience warm and wonderful. She was quick with our cocktails and her kindness. Our food was delicious and generous. We shared that my mother doesn’t care for garlic and her whole meal seemed to be prepared with zero garlic?! The hostess team were sweet young ladies and chatting with them was enjoyable. Thank you again. As locals, we highly recommend and will return!!
