John Ash & Co.
I had the lamb three-ways, it was prepared to perfection; my wife enjoyed the halibut and it was perfect as well. The waiter was very efficient and attentive. Service was a bit slow, it appeared they may have been short of staff. This restaurant is in our neighborhood and we've been coming here for years. Beautiful decor and vineyard setting.
Expected a fine dining experience. Ordered the chefs tasting menu. Everything was just ok at best, from the amount of service attention, to patio furniture (one of the best tables?)to quality of the dishes, to ho hum experience. We won’t go back.
I hadn't been in awhile (my wife is a regular, due to work events). I had the day's specials: heirloom tomatoes and a NY steak done Oscar-style (i.e. with crab). Amazingly fresh and good. Alan, our server, was attentive and helpful, and suggested a bottle of wine (Frostwatch Merlot, a local small-production wine) which was a fine accompaniment to our meals. It doesn't appear that John Ash & Co. has diminished in any way since my last visit. Recommended if you like fresh California cuisine in a lovely setting.
Fabulous for our anniversary. Attentive, friendly service especially given how crowded it was.
Beautifully presented food and they honored their special "anniversary discount" of $35 for
their 35 years in operation. The view from the dining room over the gardens and vineyards was
perfect, plus little special extras from the chef!
Excellent bar tender who made us wonderful drinks. After our drinks we were seated in the dining room and was served by Steve who did a wonderful job. I wanted my veal chop cooked a little more and Steve took it into the kitchen and within a few minutes I had my chop prepared to my liking. We celebrated our
37th anniversary. My wife ordered the Lamb trio and really enjoyed it!
Thanks to Steve and the rest of the staff that waited on our table!
Have been going to John Ash for years and have never been disappointed. Food was outstanding, service was great, host was very pleasant. Loved our server Jessica was outstanding. She fell right in with our table and was just as silly as we were on our fun night. We all had fun
Sat us right next to the window with a view of the vineyards. Food was fantastic
Nice quiet restaurant The food was delicious. Creative presentation
Their staff accommodate my wife and I by providing a wonderful table as we were celebrating our 51st Wedding Anniversary. Meal quality was outstanding. WE have celebrated many special occasions at John Ash and never disappointed. A great thanks to the entire staff.
Waiter did not understand when informed that we had a nut allergy. We was very a poor communicator of the courses that did not have nuts in it. We did not eat half the meal due to fear of nuts. Worst anniversary dinner in 28 years of marriage. Pathetic attention to detail. Also requested outdoor dining and did not get our choice and placed on the smallest round table in the restaurant. Very shocking experience for John Ash. Highly acclaimed restaurant by our many professional colleagues in Sonoma.
We have had dinner several times during trips to the San Francisco area and it has never disappointed. The service is excellent and the food is always very good, with some dishes excellent. Atmosphere is lovely and it is easy to access off 101. Will definitely return if in the area and would recommend it.
I enjoyed seating in the enclosed patio area. Bright and air not as chilled in the main rooms. Service was great even tho we had a couple picky teens with us. They were very accommodating of their requests. Food good, portions small.
Awesome! Greatest experience to date her, and we eat there as much as we can! We ate in the open air overlooking a vineyard. Service, our waitress, the view, were spectacular.
The food is amazing. Exceptional in every way. This is our special get away location forever.
Thank you John Ash and Co....
I took my wife out for a nice dinner
The atmosphere was very nice with our having a glass window view of the garden and vineyard. The baby lettuce salad was very fresh and abundant with hazelnuts, filberts and strawberries. The roasted beet and arugula with toasted almonds was nicely prepared. I was able to order veal marsala though it was not on the regular menu while my wife had the Alaskan halibut. My veal was perfect but the halibut was a little dry and the beluga lentils were a little under cooked and salty. Our creme brûlée was ample and delicious.
Good service , good food. Perfect place to spend our anniversary!
35th Anniversary for the restaurant -- and a gift of $35 off dinner for two. A lovely way to celebrate with friends. Food is always excellent. The presentation and courtesy of the wait staff was very good. However, the service was slow, a surprise since the restaurant was only partially full. Perhaps the kitchen staff was understaffed this time.
John Ash never disappoints, whether or not you need a quiet and beautiful evening to relax and dine on the most scrumptious food ever, or if it’s a special occasion!
This has become one of our go-to date night restaurants and we can’t say enough about the service, food, and ambience!
Josh is passionate about his work, and so knowledgeable about the food and wine that we always feel like we are the only people he is waiting on!
Do yourself a favor, go to this gem of a restaurant!!
We are lucky to have it in Santa Rosa!
Amazing views, impeccable service and welcoming ambiance.
From the appetizer to dessert, each was prepared with precision.
Service was slow and the food was not very good. Bland, poorly executed and boring.
Beautiful bar area, dining room, patio dinning area, and bar. Service was spotty, very nice server, but perhaps not experienced. Promised corn bread muffin never arrived. Calamari appetizer was very chewy. Pasta dish just ok. Pork chop was also chewy and not well cooked. The yam fritter served with pork chop was completely burnt on bottom and had to be sent back. Overall, a beautiful spot with average food. I would not recommend John Ash unless for a visit to the bar and maybe happy hour.
If you are looking to enjoy great food in a restaurant with great ambiance and excellent service - look no further!
2 entrees were not edible due to the high spice (heat) level. Menu did not identify dishes as spicy.
Beautiful in every way
Dinner with great friend
Celebrating my Mother’s Birthday, we visited John Ash with a table of 7. I request patio seating and we enjoyed a perfect evening breeze over a great meal.
Outstanding! Even after all these years !
My 65th Birthday celebration at John Ash was wonderful!
Husbands birthday dinner. Service was good but food was just average. Not as we expected
John Ash & Company is one of the Best in Sonoma County in my opinion. Grounds, buildings, service and special attention to details were excellent. Room, dining and service was excellent!
We did find the air conditioner in the room was noise at night for sleeping. The room itself was spacious and beautifully appointed.
I do have a question, do you have an elevator available in any Unit? We have a friend with special needs.
We loved everything about our dining experience at John Ash & Co! The noise level, however, was a bit loud making it difficult to carry on a conversation at times. We'd still return as everything else was outstanding!
Great evening service, food ambiance lovely 😊
Excellent food and service. We have been dining at John Ash for several years and each time the food has been great. meats and fish are cooked to perfection. Bread is served fresh and brought to the table warm. The tasting menu changes on a regular basis and has a number of option. Michelin quality food.
Excellent food and service. The special of the evening was rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly. Our table was on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden, which made for a lovely view.
Josh was great, we loved everything. Thank you we will be back. Short ribs with scallops and that cheesecake is were it's at. Yummy.
John Ash has excellent food at a convenient location which also happens to be beautiful. You pay the price, and you get what you pay for. Lovely venue for any occasion.
We ate out on the terrace.
Food was good.
Special anniversary dinner.
We always John Ash and Co. This was the first time dining there on a summer evening. The patio seating was superb, with a refreshing breeze coming through and view of garden and vineyard peaceful. Definitely will return.
As usual , service and attention to detail were on target and food was excellent.
It is a beautiful location and the food is delicious. However the service is not very friendly.
