John Ash & Co.
Great food and ambiance, as usual! John Ash never fails to impress. Love their creative menu.
Great place, a standard that is still good. The staff is great and the food is also very good. I will be returning again soon.
I was celebrating with my friend on her birthday. John Ash never disappoints. Great food excellent service and such a beautiful setting overlooking the vineyards. I love their scallops, best salad and the filet. I have never had a bad meal there
Eating at John Ash & Co. in Santa Rosa is always a treat. The food is delicious and the service impeccable. It's pricey, but worth the cost. We ate outside, so it was quiet. The surroundings are beautiful.
What a beautiful setting. The interior of the restaurant has a lovely open beam ceiling with a beautiful decor. We dined in the patio area which was large over looking the vineyard and garden. It also has retractable glass panels.
The service was prompt, professional and courteous . A great variety of items on the limited menu , also a wonderful wine list. We had the scallops which were large and luscious with a wonderful sauce.
Looking forward to a return visit.
Perfect and ideal for a date or special occasion or anniversary. We love food and atmosphere around where we ate. Staff was very friendly and cordially polite.
We had a wonderful experience at John Ash. It is a beautiful restaurant and the acoustics are excellent. It's the first fine dining experience we'e had in a long while where we could actually hear each other without effort. The food was delicious, service was excellent.
This is a great place for a long relaxed dinner for a special occasion. The resturant is beautiful and comfortable. Our dinner and wine were outstanding. We will do it again when in the area.
Bartender recommended a local wine that was Fantastic! Food was excellent!
Enjoy our quiet elegant delicious meal. I look forward every year to celebrate our special day!
Four of us had the tasting menu, three w/ wine pairing. Everything was delicious! Sitting outside is a plus if you can. Not cold, and the view is so restful. Great personable service. Everything to like!!
We went to John Ash for our wedding anniversary as we do every year. Outside patio was fabulous and our waiter was spectacular! Service is the best and we couldn't have had a better time. This is the place to go if you want celebrate an occasion or just enjoy the wine country. Fortunately, we live just down the street so this makes a great spot for burger Sunday, which we go quite often. Thank you to everyone at John Ash for making another wonderful anniversary celebration.
Great first experience.... don't know why I waited so long. Great food and wine selection. Our server, Alan, was outstanding. He provided the highest level of hospitality, with ease. We'all be back.
Comparing our evening meal to the prior evening at he Farmhouse Inn, which was much more expensive and less food, we were blown away by the delicious food, the nice portions, and the appropriate level of attentiveness by our waiters. Could not have had a better final anniversary dinner here!
Yet another enjoyable dinner at John Ash. Spent the day wine tasting and ended up at Ferrari-Carano. Great wines in such a beautiful setting. Drove down to John Ash and we all had a very enjoyable dinner to celebrate my birthday. Arrived a little late, but in spite of the crowd, they still had our table for 5. Enjoyed a great dinner and a bottle of Ferrari-Carano pinot from Lazy Creek. Most enjoyable day, capped off by a great dinner. Will definitely return again.
Reliably a good restaurant. Good food, good service.
Wonderful way to celebrate a birthday! Friendly, accommodating service and of course the dinner was excellent. Interesting combination of flavors that complimented each other perfectly!
Look forward to a return visit.
Lovely setting!! Excellent service and wonderful food. We had tasting menu and they went to great lengths to make us happy. We didn’t like the soup so they substituted seviche of halibut with vegetable risotto that was superb. This restaurant made our return visit to Santa Rosa truly memorable.
Chef Tom's lamb trio was a disappointment. The lamb consisted of a small chop, a small sausage and a few morsels of lamb shank. The menu led us to believe it would be an actual shank, not just a few pieces of meat cut from the shank. The vegetable fregola was devoid of vegetables, with the exception of a few tiny carrot pieces. We like John Ash for the setting, service and low noise level that allows for a conversation; it's too bad tonight's food was not on par with the other elements.
Very good customer service and very accommodating. Will definitely return. Thank you!
John Ash has been a favorite place of ours since the 1990’s. We even got married here in 2013 and we often come back to visit the “scene of the crime.” The cuisine is consistently outstanding and the setting is out of this world. I can’t say enough. Even though we lost our nearby home in the October wildfires, we will still visit as we now live in Windsor. My only complaint is the price of wine. It is WAY beyond exorbitant compared to other high end restaurants in the area. We typically pay TWICE as much at John Ash for the same exact wines! This has nothing to do with value, just way overpriced. We would eat here more often if the wine was more reasonably priced. Carole & Jim
I loved everything about the dining experience except for the service. We were never asked if we wanted more wine while our glasses sat empty. No one ever came around to fill our water glasses until I asked a passing waiter. Our empty plates sat in front of us for the longest time until cleared. The food was absolutely delicious and atmosphere extraordinary. But the service, for the price paid and the atmosphere of the restaurant, was severely lacking.
Very nice and relaxing dining experience
Large mushroom undercooked and served cold Ceal chop fat , grisly, could not chew one piece, undercooked from medium rare order. Server not much personality
The food was excellent and the service impeccable. This made for the best Mother's Day dinner ever. Highly recommended. CGB
New York steak was a huge disappointment. Chili rellano was excellent. Time to up the game, though.
The table we were seated at was very dark. We requested another table but they were unable to accommodate us (party of five). Two of us ended up eating our meal by flashlight just to identify what was on the plate. For the price they charge for a meal I would like to see what I'm eating.
Exceptional atmosphere and service
Never had a bad meal food outstanding its a comfortable place to be staff wonderful , love to eat at John Ash's
Our family comes to John Ash often and have been doing so for about 15 years. It isn't what I would call a "foodie" restaurant but it is a great consistently good restaurant. There are always some local items on the menu & their wine list is extensive. We tend to come with a big party - six or more - and John Ash is very accommodating to parties that are larger. The bar area is perfect if you just want something fast & a good cocktail. The restaurant is located in a beautiful vineyard setting and the outdoors is covered.
Fabulous service. Celebrated my birthday and they couldn't have been more attentive.
Always a wonderful place to eat. Services wonderful very attentive.
The bar was great with delicious cocktails and good appetizer selections on their happy hour menu which they were running until 9:00 pm on Saturday night. They collaborate with local farmers so the produce and meat were very fresh and high quality. Other than a dirty spoon with my blood orange gelato and an obnoxious kid running around outside the patio enclosure, my steak with truffle butter and my husband's grilled pork chop were quite good. The gelato was good also once a new spoon arrived! The add-ons on menu items were over priced and should be included or taken off the menu. The leek soup, for example, should always have the bacon lardons, with the option to leave them off if you prefer.
Have lived in the area since before John Ash was built. Never seemed to have the interest in dining there but to help celebrate my wife's birthday decided it was about time to try. Everything was fine other that a bit noisy on the outside dining area. Not a total distraction but a party of six near us was a bit loud.
Food was excellent, service by Steve was prompt and friendly.
Will not wait another 35 years to visit again.
We celebrated my niece's 60th birthday. We requested, and were seated at, the sem-round booths on the upper level. This is quiet and gave added attention for a birthday event. My niece received a bonus dessert as a gift. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The food is somewhat expensive, but the dinner was worth it.
Always fabulous service and food at this place. The grounds are wonderful to take a little walk around before or after dinner. Food and service empeciable !!!
This is a beautiful restaurant with lovely decorative touches and indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors, and they had a fire going in the room we sat in. Nice ambience. Our server was very helpful and service was just fast enough that we didn't feel rushed. Our daughter had a lovely cheese plate and leek soup. I enjoyed the veal steak with au gratin potatoes and mushrooms and my husband raved about his halibut. We were all too full for desert, but the server brought out a tasteful creme brulee for my husband in celebration of his birthday. I'd definitely recommend John Ash.
Beautiful setting, great service! Especially enjoyed the cheese plate
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We were treated like celebrities. Fantastic attentive staff, beautiful food and ambience. Totally recommend this whole experience. Thank you to management and staff.
Gorgeous view of the garden which overlooked the vineyard. The setting was wonderful as was the food and staff. The menu isn't extensive but there was definitely something for everyone. The risotto was fantastic and could be shared as an appetizer if you didn't want it as an entrée. Will definitely go back.
