We had our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner here 10 years ago and came back on our 10th anniversary for an incredible dinner. John Ash does not disappoint! The food was perfect and our waiter excellent.
This restaurant is amazing. This was our 3rd time there. The food is great, the service the superb.
We always sit in the patio and we love the view.
John Ash is our go-to restaurant for great food, outstanding service and perfect ambience.
Food was very good. Service was Good - not attentive enough.
The best! Celebrated a birthday and preordered cocktails to be served upon arrival. It was perfect timing ! The meal
And apps were spectacular and cooked perfectly! Service amazing, ambience stunning and romantic...
Very pleasant experience. Good food, nice surroundings. Overall very nice.
Food was good, but not over the top. Service was excellent
The food is consistently good, the service is excellent and the atmosphere, especially on the terrace is fabulous
Excellent meal. The atmosphere created was perfect. Thought the first course came out too quickly and worried we might be rushed, but the rest of the meal flowed at a nice pace.
We were seated at a beautiful table with a window that opened into a gorgeous garden with grape vines just behind the garden. It was perfect. Alan was our server and he could not have been more helpful in choosing a fine bottle of wine to compliment our steaks. Reasonably priced as well at $92. Aldina Cabernet. We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We will be back!
Always a great dining experience. Constantly one of the best restaurants in our area.
Had a lovely meal at John Ash & Co. Tasty cocktail - and the calamari fritti was perfect - hot, very lightly breaded, crispy and flavorful. The Duck entree was delicious. Duck was cooked perfectly. The sticky toffee pudding desert was typically indulgent.
While it’s not an edgy, innovative menu - the food was delicious. While a bit pricey - it was great for a special meal.
Appreciated seeing the variety of GF options - as this would make a great place for a special dinner for my GF sister. I’ll remember that.
Had not been here in several years, because the schedule just never permitted it! Glad that we went back. Food and service was great. I had the halibut, which was melt in your mouth good, and my dining partner had the bacon wrapped pork loin that she said was to die for.
We shared an Elderflower creme brulee for dessert, and it was very yummy.
Wines by the glass were great, as I chose a white and she chose a red. I asked for a small taste of two of the white wines, as I was not familiar with either. They happily brought me tastes so that I could make my selection. This place is just a very upscale and classy environment. They go out of their way to make your dining experience a great one.
Fantastic experience! Food and wines were outstanding!! Great atmosphere, service and ambiance. A delightful evening.
Ambiance was terrific for our wedding anniversary dinner. Service was great, a big "thank you" to our server, Eric, who provided us with a complimentary "mini dessert" in honor of our special day. My only suggestion would be for John Ash & Co.'s menu to include more choices of red meat entrees (Porterhouse, Ribeye, Prime Rib, T-Bone, etc.). At the same time, I recognize that John Ash & Co. is NOT a steakhouse, but a wonderfully elegant restaurant offering delightful food and drink. Thank you.
It’s a great restaurant
Came here for our aniversary. Wonderful ambiance, a little noisy however it still felt very intimate. We absolutely loved the bacon wrapped pork loin and the chicken. Very surprised by a wonderfully savory coconut and corn soup. Will definitely come again for future special occasions.
Beautiful restaurant amazing service the food was out of this world 100 stars
My first time at John Ash & Co. can't wait to go back.
We were seated right away, had reservations, which were easy to do. We were going to Luther Burbank and our wait staff was very mindful of the time.
Food was excellent we all had an exceptional dining experience. Thank you
Birthday girl's steak was well-done, she asked for medium. No offer to make it right after we pointed it out. She didn't want to wait for a fresh steak to be cooked, so she didn't fuss.
Other than that, it was nice.
We were given a gift card for a wedding g gift. We went th John Ash the day after our wedding. Our table was private and overlooked beautiful vineyard and the food was amazing. We will definitely go again on a special occasion.
We were so fortunate to make a reservation at John Ash & Co. View from our table was perfect. A humming bird was a special guest at our table. We ordered SWEET CORN & COCONUT SOUP, PAPPARDELLE PRIMAVERA, LOBSTER RISOTTO, ROSEMARY STAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Every meal is perfect portion. So tasty.
Excellent food, very good service with only minor misses- ordered coffee at the end of service that never showed up (but it did on the bill), a crumbing between courses would have been nice, more bread with the Foie Gras would have been nice too.
We've dined with you folks many times, and are always satisfied with the experience.
As always, John Ash’s menu has superb locally grown food with wonderful attentive service. The vineyard/garden setting is well maintained, colorful and beautiful making our dining experience much more special!
Absolutely wonderful in all respects. Will go again. The porch was so peaceful and beautiful.
Beautiful room with views of wine country. Quiet enough to hear everyone at the table which is unusual these days. Most of our food was outstanding except the pasta was just so so. Service was attentive, but we wish we had been left to pour our wine ourselves as the server gave too much wine to a couple of people and too little to the rest of us...
I've never been to John Ash & Co. before, although I've lived down the road from it for 15 years. I have high expectations for dinner out, and have visited far too many restaurants that try to impress but always miss the mark. Call me picky, but I know I can cook and generally feel the restaurant experience including the service and decor should help elevate simple "farm-to-table" food to something worth paying +$300 for two diners. We were an odd-ball couple on a romantic dinner date. I always cook in, but this was his birthday. I liked the food, although it was nothing special, nor did it surprise me in any way. Perhaps the high point was the wine—a $45 bottle of local Pinot Noir I overlooked paying $99 for. IT, was perfect. If only the service was authentically genuine and paired with that balance of attention and cheerfulness that makes the bill seem irrelevant.
I have always loved eating at John Ash. The service is always top notch, the food is incredible and the wine list is full of great selections.
We love JA and visit often. The food is always outstanding and the table service excellent. The kitchen was slower than usual this time, surprising for a 5 PM reservation for 4 when we all ordered the chef’s tasting menu special. We had to take dessert in boxes and were still late to s 7:30 show. To be fair, we did not tell the waiter we had a time limit.
It was a lovely evening with quiet atmosphere and wonderful service. It was perfect for a first date.
John Ash is not the first class, special occasion, dining place it used to be. It is has the atmosphere, but that's about all. For example, $31 for three day scallops that were so heavily seasoned you could barely taste the scallops. Couples talking table to table so loudly that we couldn't carry on a quiet conversation. The glass doors open even though it turned chilly and breezy - - it took three requests and a different server to go over and tell the couple by the window that customers asked it be closed. If you are trying to impress a business client and your company is paying for it, you might want to go there. But if it's a special occasion for you and your wife or girlfriend, it isn't what it used to be.
Really excellent restaurant. Top notch experience. Our server Stephanie was extraordinary. You won't go wrong here no matter what you order.
Very interesting tasting menu with a successful pairing. Very good disposition by the staff.
Made the reservation at least 2 months in advance (whatever the max they allowed). We were staying at the inn. We were not asked where we preferred to be seated (on the reservation or by the hostess). She sat us in the main dining room that had only one other table in use. Everyone else was on the patio. When I asked her why we did not get the option for the patio she said that others selected that option on their reservation- not sure what that meant. Also the dress code is not enforced so not sure why they say there is one.
The food was good- but not great. The lobster risotto was not cooked properly as the rice was too firm. The foie gras should have been served with more bread/crackers.
My return to John Ash after twenty years was disappointing. The menu is, ummm, boring and the service was indifferent. My previous visit was among the finest dining experiences. This visit turned out to be one of the worst.
We chose John Ash to celebrate our 35th anniversary. As expected (and as is usual) it met and surpassed our expectations with the food choices, cocktails, and service. There was something for everyone, including one member who has severe food allergies. We were not rushed (as is usual) and had a most enjoyable evening. We again highly recommend John Ash.
Excellent service and beautiful grounds but unfortunately the only vegetarian option was extremely bland.
I had the chefs tasting menu. Enjoyed everything we had. Great food and atmosphere.
John Ash & Co. is one of our favorite restaurants. We frequent it often, and always take out of town guests to this beautiful and thoughtful cuisine charm.
This time was a bit of a disappointment, though.
The service was slow, and they were clearly short staffed, although no one mentioned anything.
The manager was serving, we waited too long between courses, and we had to ask a couple of times for their wonderful bread service.
My husband got the lamb trio, and he said it was the most spectacular dish ever-tender, full of flavor and a creative experience.
The seasonal burrata and heirloom tomato salad with white balsamic vinegar was simply divine.
This place has one of the best pastry chefs around, and normally the desserts are perfection.
This time, though, they were a bit disappointing....just not up to their normal standard.
Everyone can have an off night, and we have dined here so many times, we will definitely be back.
As always, the ambience was gorgeous and the maitre d was fabulous!!
