We love Johannes, but the maitre’d was so flippant at informing us that our table wasn’t ready (despite our having a reservation) he didn’t even apologize. He merely suggested that there were plenty of bars in the neighborhood and that we should go have a drink and come back in 20 minutes. Appalling behavior considering I have a valued customer for more than a decade.

Johannes remains one of the finest restaurants in the valley. Service was paced as we liked it, no rush but aware of when we needed attention. The cocktails are superb and the food is rarely matched in the area! Pleasant comfortable room without being pretentious! A favorite for a local!

From the moment you enter Johannes, your experience is superb. The host is welcoming and efficient. The server is amazing - knows her stuff, makes fabulous recommendations and really wants the patron to be happy. The food is stellar, an experience in and of itself. Great options for wine, as well.

I can recommend the food 100 percent. However, we were a bit annoyed about the service. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait very long. That would have been ok, but while we were waiting, several people were served before us, obviously regulars, who were given priority. The table, which was then given to us as plan B, was unfortunately not in the beautiful guest room, but opposite the open kitchen. Therefore, there are no 5 stars.

Wonderful staff, great downtown location, and the food is fantastic! Meatball appetizer was delicious, the pork tenderloin medallion entrée as well as the schnitzels were outstanding - will definitely come back. Not to mention the Sazerac cocktails were spot on, great dining experience.

Deliciousness in every bite! I had the fried oyster appetizer special and it was light, fluffy and yummy. For my entree I had the jaeger schnitzel. Amazing with mushroom and brown sauce. 🤤 My husband had the shrimp cocktail and the mama’s style schnitzel made with chicken. He raved about it! For dessert we had an apple bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was very good without being overly sweet. Can’t wait to eat here again!!

From the moment we walked into the door, we were greeted by a very friendly host who took us to our waiting table. Our server was probably one of the best I have had in a long long time. She was warm and personable and very efficient. I could not wish for more. My friends were very impressed with the entire evening. I would do it all over again.

Great place and vibe, especially if you’re on a date. My girlfriend and I loved the ambience. The restaurant gets pretty busy so make sure you book in advance. Also a must try is their duck in orange glaze!

First time diner. Great, friendly greeting by the host and nicely laid out table for two at the back of the restaurant with nice view of the chefs preparing dinner. Interesting appetizer choices and dinner selections. I had the Malayan meatball appetizer, pork medallions medium well with peas and small potato dumplings which was excellent. The meat was tender and delicious. Lovely dessert. Thanks to Beth for her excellent service. I’ll be back!

We go to this great place almost every time we're in the Palm Springs area. The Lemon Caper Schnitzel is amazing!! We went for the pork medallions this time and now have a new favorite. They have a wide variety of wine on their menu that is reasonably priced. I feel that our waitress could have been more engaged... she seemed a bit short (not rude... just a 'here you go' approach, even when we tried to engage with her). We still highly recommend this place!

Peppercorn Schnitzel with veal was the bomb! Awesome cocktails stater courses of arugula and beet salad and Cheese Spätzeln. Desserts were good. Served from the right and bussed from the left for a touch of Seabourn class! Corkage is a bit high @ $30. Wait staff is top notch.

Great service, friendly staff, beautiful ambiance, fantastic foods. The peach/watermelon salad, tuna tartar, duck and polenta and jager schnitzel all were excellent with their great flavor combinations. The decedent banana-blueberry bread pudding with coconut ice cream finished off the satisfying meal. The waitress was very helpful in our meal choices. We will be back.

I was rather disappointed It was my husbands 77th Birthday They brought over the desert menu and said if we ordered one they would put a candle in it. For this. caliber a restaurant and a bill if $189. With tip and just one cocktail I felt that was rather cheesy Will go somewhere else to celebrate special occasions.

Overall was very nice. Particularly liked the entrees. The schnitzel was a little bit thin and disappointing, but I think coming from Australia we are very privileged when it comes to food quality, portions and value for money. I would recommend as the food was good and the service and ambience etc was excellent.

Just outstanding b-day dinner for me and my husband. Have always like Johannes, but last night's meal was PERFECTION! Great cocktails, great service and comfortable atmosphere. But the star of the night was the food! Chilled Potato Leek Soup w/crabmeat...the BEST chilled soup I have ever had. CHUNKS of crabmeat in a soup that was bursting with flavor. Chicken/Jaeger and Pork/Peppercorn schnitzels were both OUTSTANDING!! Just delicious and the accompanyments of fingerling potatoes and cucumber/dill salad perfectly balanced the meals! LOVED the evening. Am so happy Johannes is in PS. It's now our favorite and keeps getting better!

When I made the reservations I noted this was a special birthday. When we arrived & reminded the host this was a special birthday. I also informed the waiter. When I mentioned this to the waiter, she said we were required to order deserts, the restaurant doesn’t proved any type of birthday or special treat. She didn’t acknowledge the special birthday person, handed me the check & left.. Sadly I spent $268 for dinner for three, expecting a wonderful birthday surprise for my sister, that didn’t happen. Not very happy..

I've eaten here several times and always enjoyed, but last night was not the best. The "corn" soup had zero corn flavor. The shnitzel was overdone with very little meat inside--so flattened, that my portion was mostly breading. At least the sauce flavor was good. The bread pudding was bland and salty--the only flavor was from the coconut sorbet on top. Frankly, I was disappointed. But, given that I've enjoyed a half dozen prior experiences here, I'll give it another try.

So it's been our third time there, we had a bit of an unfortunate evening this time around. Everything started OK. We loved our server. I forgot her name, but I do realize that she was the sister of Barrie, whom we've had previously and has always done and impeccable job. But unfortunately, after a great start with some nice cocktails, a wonderful, cold soup, and salad, we waited over an hour without any additional food. Just to give context. Our reservation was at 6:15 and we still did not have our entrees by 8pm While we realize that these things happen, we found it unfortunate that nobody came by to explain why the food wasn't coming out , and eventually we just decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere. I don't really understand why restaurants don't get that we as customers understand that these things happen, but when you don't address the situation,, provide transparency or even come over to apologize or offer any type of amenity for our inconvenience, we find it unacceptable and quite frankly very sad because this is always been a great place that we enjoy the food and service and atmosphere . Yes, I imagine we will come again because I think this was a total anomaly, but most likely it will be a while. We're a little embarrassed, because the friends that we took here had never been here before, and we find it sad that they had to leave without them even getting their entrées . But all was not lost, we at least were able to go have a small dinner at Blackbook to make up for it. Hopefully, by the time we get back, they'll have their act together again.
