Joey's Italian Cafe Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit. Our first visit was almost perfect. Great food and service and our toddler was embraced by the staff. Today's visit was quite different. While the food was once again excellent, the service was not as great. It was very, very busy with some festival in the neighborhood but we were not offered a second cocktail because the server never checked back. Worse was the manager who, after having been seated, said we had to move because they needed the table for a group of 16. (That group didn't arrive until we were ready to leave, but I digress!). Then on our way out, she told us that we needed to get our toddler "under control." Interestingly, the other guests around us and the server had already complimented us on how well-behaved he was. Will likely not go back. Too many options that welcome young ones who are learning to dine out. Unfortunate because the food is very good.
Recommend by business owner while on day trip to Florida keys. Great location in art district. Super food at fair price point. Staff was freindly and attentive. Music was a bit loud in outdoor sitting area so moved indoors. Overall very enjoyable and would highly recommend to anyone
I first arrived at Joeys it really did seem like setting reservations was necessary, as soon as is sit I noticed the table was wobble and I instantly wanted to move tables, I replied to one of the hosts I would rather move over to another table, she said if that table isn't reserved, I said I reserved a table also it's just wobbly, so we moved to another table across the way, once we sit down at this table me and my fiancé notice this table was also wobble smh so now I irritated my fiancé tried to fix it I said no it's not your job to do so and it's your birthday, I nicely asked the host why are the tables wobbly she said there unbalanced due to them being outside hmmm maybe they should fix the problem before sitting guest at the table, she did ask to fix it but at this time I really was just hoping she would use her expertise as a host and give us better service do to the lack of consistency of tables, because if I had to go to a third table I would had lost it and walked out, ok now they finally server the food yay, I order the tiger shrimp pasta and half the shrimp still had the hard tail on the shrimp and some didn't, I ask the host again what's going on she replied this is how they serve the shrimp, Why would I want to take off the tail of my own shrimp when Iam paying them to do so? Smh so buy the time me and my fiancé finished eating I was hoping due to the uncomfortable experience the host would have said we took 10% off or something but nothing. Garbage of a place that lacks exceptional service
Dined at Joey's with my parents and sister. We sat outside which was nice. It wasn't dinner time but late lunch, early dinner, I suppose. They start dinner around 5pm I think and we had reservations for 3pm. They close at 3:30 for a happy hour. I think a couple of restaurants in this neighborhood are like this. Wasn't a big deal, but would have been nice to know.
The food was really good. Our server (forgot her name) was patient and quite nice. She wasn't overly fake-friendly. There were times were she took long to come back and check on us but nothing excessive.
Food was really good. I ordered the meatballs and bruschetta as appetizer. The meatballs were really nice and so was the bruschetta. My dad had the clams with pasta which he enjoyed. My mum and I had the same dish which with the shrimp with pasta in a spicy marinara (sorry I don't remember the exact names of the dishes on the menu) and my sister had the alfredo. I don't think any meat came with it. Anyway, everyone enjoyed their food and cleaned their plates. My parents and sister had the tiramisu for dessert and they were pleased.
I would definitely go back and recommend this restaurant. Next time I would like to have dinner there. We left feeling satisfied, not stuffed and the meal was delish.
This place is a joke. An Italian restaurant with no Chianti on the winelist, that serves you a Nero d'Avola from Sicily when you order a Pinot Neto from Oltrepo Pavese. And a waiter who talks lengthy about dish of the day and upon you ordering it returns to tell you it is finished - at 7 pm with only a few guests in the restaurant.
The food was sort of okay, though, but the overall experience was one NOT okay
I ordered clams seafood pasta. It was extremely salty and I eat pretty salty. I return it. They brought it back and said they cook a new pasta for me without salt. I mixed it up but it was still very salty. I asked them to please taste it because it is super salty in that sauce. They didn't. I asked my friend to taste and she said it was super salty as well.
I love clams pasta as i usually eat clam pasta in Italy. I was so disappointed that I didn't get have clam pasta.
I think they should taste their food or sauce first before they serve others
I've been to Wynwood and Wynwwod Walls but never really noticed this place (which is right next door) and well it ended up being a great night. It was for a birthday celebration and the service was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place for "Date Night" or any special occasion. They have Patio seating or Garden seating which is extremely cozy, nice, and romantic. Only thing I have to say is that in my opinion it is a little price. I say this because this restaurant online appears as "$$" when in fact I believe its really "$$$" however, the location, the food, the decor, most importantly the service is excellent and makes up for it. My party, and the birthday girl had a wonderful time, thank you.
Inside was surprisingly cold with the a/c up high. We sat on the patio which is nice and spacious. It was quiet at first because we got there very early but by the time we left the vibe was picking up, although it was a Wednesday evening. We stopped in for a quick bite, sharing a pizza which was delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We'll go back again for sure. Its in a great location if you want to explore Wynwood before/after your meal.
We were really disappointed with the food. Bland, stale, and not fresh. The beef carpaccio was slimy, the parapadelle flavorless and bland. The only bright spot was the buratta. Joey's feels like a formerly good restaurant that has begun to rest on its laurels. It is no longer a destination spot in Wynwood. We will not return, and strongly recommend diners go elsewhere.
This was a birthday dinner for a friend and it was pouring outside, our table was right next to the lashing rain from the dripping tent and wind under the side panels, Not too mention the obnoxious motorcyclist that revved his engines loudly on two occasions ruining everyone's ambient dining. On the food front, the prosciutto and burrata were great on a nice sized plate, there were 2 green beans in the tonna & fagiole salad. The pizza was Ok but not good for an italian restaurant, the carbonara was totally overcooked with hard cubes of pancetta in it...A good dish was the papperdelle ragu and the chocolate fondants were made from a mix or from Costco. We did have a nice red wine and sloppy service, so we wouldn't rush back....
