Joey Gerard's - A Bartolotta Supper Club - Greendale
Located in the charming village of historic Greendale, Joey Gerard’s embraces an upscale casual dining experience while combining classic supper club menu options –charcoal-fired steaks in Josper ovens, grilled cold-water lobster tails, cedar-plank salmon, and a modern spin on supper-club classics such as Braised Short Rib Beef Stroganoff; and of course, the classic Schaum torte – baked meringue and fresh strawberries.
Our version of the classic: light meringue with whipped cream and strawberries
12oz Certified Angus beef New York strip steak, smothered onions and mushrooms
New Zealand Lamb Chops
This is an old time supper club atmosphere in lovely downtown Greendale. COVID-19 puts some limitations (self imposed) on the restaurant. Our server would not approach out table unless we put on our masks. That was a bit of overkill;;. The t Avery steal (strip steak) was cooked properly, but a bit tough. The chicken Marsala seemed over cooked, not real tender. The service other than the COVID rules was prompt and paced out fine. Ashley, our server was accommodating and showed concern for our pleasure. Overall, a bit pricey for the food quality.
Service was outstanding and our server was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. However, they ran out of prime rib by 7:30 so we didn’t get to order the dish that we came there for. Rather disappointing for a Saturday night relatively early on. My filet was cooked adequately and the cheese curd appetizer was fine. Overall we had a nice experience but I wouldn’t say we were blown away for the price. I should note that Covid precautions were excellent and they provided ample space for diners.
The quality of our experience was not up to their usual standards. While we were told about an optional cleaning fee of $4.00 per person it was automatically added to our bill and we had to object to the charge and ask to have it removed. The quality of my steak was less than I expected. Our visit was disappointing.
Ashley was outstanding to say the least
Everyone was friendly and happy. My husband had the bison and I had the halibut, both delicious! Oh, and the potato soup was very good too!
Appreciated their covid protocols - a two way street as they were looking out for their patrons and their staff!
Ordered Steak and baked potato, received mash potatoes.
Split a house salad , my salad was bland no tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.
Asked waiter for extra salad dressing but he forgot to bring it to me.
Excellent food and great menu. Miss the chicken piccata!
Great staff and experience.
The ribeye was fantastic.
Our dinner was fabulous! Food was perfectly prepared and served very fresh. The swordfish special was the best I've ever had, and the bison steak was fantastic. Dessert was a homemade meringue, served with ice cream and strawberries.
They have taken extreme caution with the current covid pandemic, to space all tables and require masks to and from seating.
Excellent over all! We will definitely be returning!
Excellent service and food ! Everything was perfect !
For the first time at a Bartolotta restaurant, the service was disappointing. While we were seated exactly at our reservation time and were provided drink menus, it took 17 minutes for our drink order (a bottle of wine) to be taken and another 15 to have the bottle brought to our table - which was not the bottle we ordered. It took another 5 minutes for the correct bottle to be brought out. With a 90 minute dining limit, spending nearly half of that without drinks was disappointing. Other than that, the food, as always, was delicious.
Was disappointed in the charges and the fact that the high charge for the entree didn’t include soup or salad and had to purchase ala carte, thought it was not value for your money, will not go back
Very Covid-safe. Food, as always, was delicious. A comfortable supper club dinner experience.
Been awhile since we last visited. We'll be back again soon!
This is a favorite restaurant typically but the latest visit was not stellar. The hostess advised us on arrival that there would be a $4 per person surcharge for Covid related costs added to our bill that was not mandatory but...it got added so we’d feel like cheapskates asking them to take it off the bill. While I understand restaurants have struggled during this time, I don’t think it appropriate to add more on to an already very expensive bill.
Food was okay but not sure it warranted a $100/person cost.
We had a very nice dinner experience. The only thing that bothered my husband and I is how we had to put on our mask every time the server came to our table. I was just at another restaurant on Sunday and we could keep our mask off the entire time we were at our table.
Food was great, service good. Very annoying to have to don masks dozens of times throughout our intimate dinner.
Temperatures were taken at the door but it was -17 degrees out. My temp was 91 so it wasn’t helpful for their purpose. Masks were required when the wait staff came to the table, $4 per head “health and safety fee” but saw no additional services for my health and safety. The busser didn’t wipe the bench down and missed a fork under the table. The fee is a joke for such a “covid conscious” the steak was upper end of mediocre. Good beer though.
Food excellent as always, love the cozy atmosphere but of course unusual because of Covid. Fewer tables and safe protocol in place. Regardless, an enjoyable evening!
Everything was perfect. The food, the ambience, our waitress, Ashley was outstanding. It was a wonderful dining experience.
Date night for Valentines
We felt the COVID safeguards were over the top. Having been to several restaurants, this was by far the most restrictive- and we began enjoying restaurants when they opened and in different states.
We would not return until these restrictions are relaxed and rethought.
Accept for the bill getting messed up It was a great evening. We called and they are handling the mix up.
One of the best steak houses around and pretty reasonably priced for what you are getting.
Way to many COVID rules. Had to put our masks on every time the server came to the table. Completely ruined the experience.
Ordered two steak medium and they were both over cooked and, therefore, dry
What should have been a delightful evening with wonderful food, which we always expect from a Bartolotta restaurant, was unfortunately completely overshadowed by the draconian “health and safety” behavior of the service staff. We completely understood the temperature checks and wearing of masks when away from your table, but we felt insulted and unwelcome in this restaurant. We have eaten in dozens of restaurants during the last year, and never have been treated so poorly. We won’t be back.
Went for Valentine’s Day dinner and I always enjoy the food, wine and ambiance here. Great place and the food is outstanding. You get what you pay for. Highly recommend!
Delicious food, good service, but refused to honor our $20 gift card, which was initially declined last March when we decided to order curbside service. We were told then that we could use it once the restaurant opened again for indoor service. Less than a month after it reopened, we dined in and they declined to honor it again, saying it expired in October (when the restaurant was still closed). We were told we COULD have used it at one of the Bartolotta restaurants that was open while Joey Gerards was closed (which was never previously conveyed to us - Joey Gerards had the most convenient location for us, and we had no reason to search for another Bartolotta restaurant).
Yes, it's only $20, but that's part of the point. The fact that they adamantly refused to honor it even after we called their Bartolotta customer service number to explain the circumstances shows us how little they value us as customers. If management wants to take a stand on principle, they should know that consumers can do the same. We won't be back.
Food was excellent. I had lamb chops. Very good. Done perfectly. My husband had a steak. He said very good and done perfectly as well.
The only thing is the $4 per person charge for ppe. Although it was optional, per person is a little over the top. They are truly making money on this. Should be no more than a $4 per TABLE
The best dining on the south side. Number 1 in my book.
Mask policy is a little over the top, from my point of view. Secondly our dinners were ok at best, for the price. Probably will not be back. The Joey's Door martinis were very good. But overall we were not impressed with our food.
Good food - very expensive beyond comparable restaurants and experiences.
We had a birthday gift card for one of the Bartalotta restaurants and we chose this one. Good choice. Even given a tort for desert for my birthday. Would like to return soon.
Did not like having to put back on mask every time server comes near the table. They treat you as though they are going to get catch some sickness from you. It was not a pleasant experience. Food not all that great for the price you have to pay. Felt very uncomfortable there.
Wonderful anniversary dinner...felt very safe and comfortable regarding Covid 19 protocols...they did everything right...food was outstanding...and our server was superb!
The restaurant was nice and clean. The food was very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We were impressed with the protocols that they were following for COVID protection.
Great food. Excellent ribs. Wish I was allowed to order a half rack.
Love this steakhouse! Very good food and the service is outstanding! Highly recommend!
