Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab - Washington DC Ratings and Reviews
My husband, daughter and I had a DELICIOUS dinner at Joe's. I loved how the entire staff told us to "have a good time" from the minute we walked in the door until we were seated at our table. We definitely indulged and every bite was delicious. These were the highlights - stone crab claws, crab legs, lobster tail (my favorite), Madagascar shrimp and the Boston cream pie. Our waiter was excellent. Great dinner!
Took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had an amazing time. Every waiter, host, every single person said happy birthday to him. Our waiter was knowledgeable and did an amazing job explaining the dishes. It was an experience and one he won't soon forget...Thank you!
Came for the stone crab but was blown away by the food (ahi tuna filet; sea bass; crispy brussels sprouts; any of the pie) and the service (Seven was excellent. The man knew his menu, the area, the restaurant; easy to talk to and he listens to what is said.
Nice, well-located restaurant with good food but ... non-visitors friendly. If you have not arrived altogether, those who arrived have to wait in a small entrance lobby or to take a seat at the bar. But in the latter case when the last person arrives you have to sit at the bar waiting to pay.... It would be more convenient to get the table and order some drinks
It is on the pricier side, but is undeniably one of the best dining experiences I have EVER had. Save this restaurant for someone special.
From the opening cocktails and appetizers and to the entrees and desserts, we were more than pleased. Be sure to try their signature stone crab and mustard-based sauce and, of course, a perfectly-portioned steak. After filling your bellies with all of that goodness, you should have just enough room for the delightful key lime pie.
After living in Miami and enjoying authentic Joe’s stone crabs for 4 years, I was really looking forward to enjoying the same stone crabs now that they finally arrived in my hometown of DC. So I took my 13 year old son to brunch at Joe’s on Sunday, with the promise that he will love stone crabs as much as I do. Both of us are “foodies” so my son’s palate is more sophisticated than most kids his age. We love trying new things and Joe’s did not disappoint...but unfortunately the stone crabs did.
Although practically everything else lived up to the original Joe’s standards (really great!), unfortunately the stone crabs were not nearly as fresh as they should have been. They seemed to have been flash frozen (perhaps to travel to DC) and then thawed out before serving. The meat was not as tender or tasty as they are when you get them in Miami. On the one hand transporting them could be an excuse, on the other hand, if that was enough of an excuse then all of the top restaurants that fly in seafood should have the same “thawed out” tasting seafood, but they don’t. At this price, the quality should be maintained.
If there is any way that Joe’s can fly them up faster without changing the texture of the crab that would be ideal...especially when customers are paying $50-100 for only 5-9 claws. I would appreciate a reply with any suggestions Joe’s may have. Thanks!
It was a wonderful experience. Fortunately I was given a gift card to finally dine at Joe's. It is much too expensive for our budget but it was really a pleasure to have the opportunity to dine is such a wonderful place with delicious food and outstanding service. I hope next Christmas to receive another so we can do the same!
I came here for my birthday and had a wonderful experience. We were sat at one of the best seats in the house with a great view of the lower floor. From start to finish, the food was magnificent. We ordered the grill seafood platter and the 8oz steak which was great. The wine selection was also very good and complimented the meals perfectly. I will definitely be dining here again.
I am a fan of Joe's. I now have a new appreciation after sitting in the section managed by the waiter Robert. He was outstanding! Going forward, I will always request to be seated in his area, if it is available. Stellar service. As always, the maître d' team was wonderful.
OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER were excellent. The Beef Wellington was excellent as was the crab stuffed shrimp. However, the potatoes Lyonnaise, strong tasting with the onions, although delicious, did not go well with the shrimp and normally the server would have suggested another more subtle dish. As this was a birthday occasion a delicious cake (with candle) was presented at the end of the meal, a nice treat.
I cannot give this visit five stars because most of our steaks were overcooked. Three of the four steaks ordered at our table were not edible and had to be sent back. Our waiter forgot to take my husbands order and he had to go find the waiter to place his order. We were a table of 8 but how do you forget one of the adults at the table? Once the filets were recooked they were perfect but half the table was done with their dinner by then.
Desserts were awesome as usual.
Outstanding! Dave our waiter was delightful and extremely knowledgeable when answering our questions. We loved him. Ricky was in training and he went above and beyond his call of service. He can fly on his own — he did not appear to need further training. What a very delightful and warm young man. We always have the best experience at Joe’s! This restaurant is one of our top five best in the US.
We love Joe's. They have the best clam chowder in town. Our server, Crystal, was very attentive. We enjoyed the Madagascar shrimp, Tuna fillet, more Madagascar shrimp, cole slow, and key lime pie. The valet parking is available after 6p and there are parking lots close by, so if you want to do valet parking, make your reservation after 6p.
