90% of our experience was perfect… The stuffed mushrooms were amazing, the crab bisque was amazing, the steak was amazing, the potatoes, Lyonnais were amazing and the crab cake was amazing! Not so amazing was my lemon drop martini which was not even cold. It was not garnished like the others at other tables. But I was put the most disappointed with our waiter. It seem very obvious that he thought we would not tip well… So I obliged him and only tipped 18%. When he boxed the to go items, he put them all in one box together, and even dumped in the watery juice from the asparagus… We threw the box away on our way home. We will be back, but we will hopefully, different waiter .

The restaurant was extremely busy - a great sign! - there was a 5 minute delay before I was seated, but that did not detract at all from the excellent meal. From the steak tartare to the filet mignon with fries and tomato to the gold brick sundae (to say it's "just" caramel and ice cream would be to undersell it - it was delicious!) That, plus coffee and gratuity pushed the cost up to 140, but I felt it was entirely worth it. Booking is essential, especially in the evenings. Highly recommended.

Enjoy coming each time when visiting DC. The Crab Louis salad combined with the petite filet was a perfect balance. Couple with broccolini, four cheeses Mac & cheese, and Jeanie’s mashed potatoes topped off the course. Closing with the apple pie, it made for a full meal for 2. Patrick’s efforts serving us with a great support staff created a good atmosphere. Thanks again for another super experience. See you next time.

This restaurant always amazes me. I love bringing friends and family who are visiting the area to Joe's so they can experience some real elegant, fine dining in DC, since most places have been overrun by tourists who are more on the casual end. Service and food was amazing.

We walked in and were immediately warmly greeted by the 3 people behind the counter. We were escorted to our table by an elderly charming gentleman. Within a few minutes, we were again welcomed by a server bringing a variety of delicious warm rolls and water. Shortly after, our server, Norma, welcomed us and gave us her recommendations. We ordered an appetizer of clam chowder and fried shrimp. Both were delicious. Our entrées were the grilled halibut, a petite filet mignon, and the New York steak with roasted sweet corn side. The only faux pas was that our steaks were overcooked the first time. The second time, they were about 30 seconds undercooked, but the third time was the charm and well worth the effort. This was one of the most tender, flavorful and perfect filets I have ever had, anywhere in the world. Despite the cook on the meat, it wasn't long before the replacement, and many sincere apologies were offered. After the fabulous entrees, we ordered the half cherry pie and half coconut cream pies for dessert. The cherry was my favorite. Not once did my water run out, and dishes were cleared promptly. The timing of the food was impeccable, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff was first rate, the vibe was absolutely amazing (elegant venue--it used to be an old bank--with big band jazz music playing and the entire service staff dressed in tuxedos), the restrooms very clean...we loved this venue and would dine here again and again if we lived in the area. Highly recommend.

Went here for a date night. We had a drink at the bar waiting for our table. Bar itself is lovely. Our App was the steak tartare. I had the petite filet, and he had the dover sole. Green beans for shared side (they are very large). I had a glass of the rioja and he had a glass of cab. Coconut cream pie for dessert (we ordered a half slice to share and it was very large). The food was perfectly cooked, prepared and presented and absolutely delicious. The bread basket is also very good. Overall the entire meal and ambience were near perfection. I only removed one star from service because our waiter didn’t deliver the glasses of wine until after our main courses had arrived, so we had to wait for those. I’ve eaten at many restaurants in DC and this was definitely one of my favorites, if not my favorite.

Great vibe and good food but the service…TOP NOTCH! They make you feel WELCOME, special, like you matter! You’re not just a customer. They treat you like they WANT you there. Smiles from everyone, from the greeter and host, to the waiters and servers and staff who aren’t even waiting on your table. Just excellent people. In most restaurants, the manager might stop by and ask you how everything is, but here, everyone wants to know how they can help. Love it! I will def be back!

Great place near our hotel. Had stone crabs at Joe's in Miami and they did not disappoint here either. Bronzini and creamed spinach were excellent and service was also.

Food was absolutely delicious! My first time eating a stone crab and that was very good. Service was fantastic. Atmosphere great as well. Great place for a celebration dinner.

The food at Joe’s is always fantastic! My slight disappointment was that I was not permitted to order appetizers from the bar menu despite being seated in the bar area. In my previous visits, I was seated exclusively in the dining room, so this issue had not come up. Given the price and proximity to the bar, this rule was a bit disappointing.
