Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab - Washington DC Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I came here to splurge for our first wedding anniversary. We were immediately met with warm faces and led to coat check. The restaurant is very large but it's set up well and doesn't feel that way, as it has separate rooms. The decor is very classic American, black and white with chrome and gold accents. The way the table was set up was incredible, we felt like movie stars. The staff was so friendly, and helpful, but not pushy. We had the stone crabs as an appetizer, which were very good, but I prefer my crab hot. For entrees I had the scallops with broccolini which were both delicious, and my husband had the 12oz filet with creamed spinach and a baked potato. The steak was divine, deep seasoning. The baked potato was fluffy and perfect, the creamed spinach was yummy as well. We ordered the fudge cake for dessert and ate less than half before we we're too full haha. We brought it home and ate it later, it was soooo good, I loved the multiple layers of chocolates textures. It was the most expensive dinner I've ever eaten, so would not go except for a very special occasion, but so worth the trip!
We attended the steakhouse to celebrate a birthday. The steak was cooked perfectly, and our host was so gracious and attentive. He took care of our needs, wants and even made recommendations. This is our go to staple restaurant for a tasty steak and cocktails. I wish there was butter cake w/ ice cream on the dessert menu. Nothing like simple semisweet cake and cappuccino to end the nite. Everything else was too sweet. Thank you for a special nite!
Great food and wonderful service. Enjoyed the attention paid to suggesting items that first timers may not know about (stone crab claws!) and the service that was attentive but not overly intrusive. Steaks done perfectly and seafood prepared so well also. Sides were delicious. Not an inexpensive meal but worth a special occasion when visiting D.C.
Have had epic dinners at Joe’s. Business and pleasure. This was our first time for brunch/lunch. Katie had the King Crab Louis. Best ever! I had the poached eggs Oscar. Wonderful. The cocktails and wine are 1/2 price, which was a great treat. We had a fabulous time and will be going back soon.
Our waiter Jim was great.
I booked this because my boyfriend wanted seafood one night on our vacation. I had no idea it was the same Joe’s from Miami Beach that he loves. Service was amazing, food was even better. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely get the coleslaw and key lime pie!
I had an amazing experience. My host/server Indy was phenomenal. She made sure we were comfortable, she explained the menu very thoroughly. She made great recommendations for food choices. She even made the birthday celebration I had planned, very special. Thanks Indy! You Rock! Great personality 😉
The food was amazing as usual and our server was cheerful and attentive (without being stifling)! Normally I give this restaurant 5-stars across the board but we had some issues with the reservationist (they got the time wrong 2x) and the host was not very nice about rectifying it. However, we were seated within 10 minutes of the original time and we had a lovely meal.
Truly an outstanding experience. The food was mouthwatering and the service was enjoyable (it was like a well orchestrated dance). The only draw back was the hurried pace we felt. With the dining experience of the restaurant there was hardly time to catch your breath before the next course was in front of you. The bill was even placed very early on the table. Loved it, judged need to let one relax.
Looked forward to this special occasion dinner and was sadly disappointed. My wife's steak was well done, when she clearly ordered medium rare. Both her steak and her side spinach dish were extremely salty. My crab bisque was luke warm but the stone crabs were great. Everything was brought up to our waiter but he just acknowledged our complains and offered some key lime pie at the end, which we refused. This is clearly a restaurant that caters to local expense account customers.
Food was OK, seafood better then the steaks. The table we were given was disappointing, right up front by the hostess. The entire meal (drinks, appetizers, meal, dessert) was served over 45 minutes. Way too quick for a restaurant like this, very disappointing. Ruined the experience.
Joe's is know for stone crabs, so that's what I requested. There were about 6 in my order, but only 2 had the tenderness and almost sweet flavor that one would expect from good stone crabs. The server suggested that I try the sauce that comes with the crabs, but this shouldn't be necessary. The table service was very good, but the hostess seated us next to the bar and behind a large pillar despite the fact that most of the other tables were available. We had reservations and were well and appropriately dressed, so I'm not sure why there seemed to be an issue....
Due to the non-stop in flux of Joe’s patrons they are undoubtedly the #1 top dining hot spot to beat in DC. Their hosting staff continues to exhibit a mastery of filling both reservations and walk in customers seating all within a reasonable wait time and turning no customer down. You won’t hear “we’re full” or “we don’t have any tables open” at Joe’s. That’s a true trademark of a restaurant brand that cares about their hospitality service standards when ranking or competing with their competitors. The main draw however, and customer appeal , is their exceptinally well-crafted entrees prepared fresh to your table - brought to you by a professional and smiling friendly server who brands his/herself as obviously happy to be working at Joe’s. Their menu selection of cocktails, appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts is beyond generous to more of meeting a high demand and choice that fits everyone’s pallet craving and budget. Continued kudos and success to Joe’s DC management, their hard working servers and on their game hosting staff. A special shout out to Brittany, our server, who made our dining experience in the busy bar lounge area pleasant and enjoyable.
