Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab Ratings and Reviews
Wanting for my daughter to try stone crab, and hearing good things about this place we went on a Friday night. Our waiter even brought out a couple legs to try before we ordered. Nice touch I thought. She ordered the large order and I ordered crab cakes due to a special diet I'm on. Excellent food.
Later Paul Ritchie the manager stopped by our table, and we joked about him not singing Happy Birthday to the ladies seated next to us. I told him we could do a duet and clear the house. He told us we would have dessert, I was surprised and happy . All in all , a great experience that we will do again when we are in Chicago. Thank you to Paul and his staff.
It was my first time visiting and I did enjoy it. The food was well prepared and plentiful and the wait staff were all attentive, courteous and thoughtful. The coconut cream pie was "to die for"!!! So glad I got it to go so I could enjoy it on a less full tummy and make the loud/audible sounds that shouldn't be heard in the restaurant and only in the privacy of home!
I came here for the first time on my birthday, January 11th. This was the single greatest dining experience I've ever had. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was relaxing. The staff were warm and friendly. I ordered the porterhouse with Alaskan king crab and fried asparugus. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection. I ordered it medium rare. It was so juicy and tender on the inside but had a wonderfully seasoned crust on the outside. I am not exaggerating when I say this. The first bite actually caused a single tear to run down my cheek. I had never truly tasted steak until that moment. This is my new favorite restaraunt in Chicago.
Food was excellent. We had filet mignon and crab-stuffed shrimp. Only concern was that my wife's filet was less well done than desired and it took probably 10 minutes to turn around--so the rest of the table was mostly done eating as she began. Server was good at explaining menu items and specials, and busboy was more than attentive. We were there to celebrate a birthday, and we felt like we'd enjoyed a very good celebration meal when we left. For our food budget, this is a special-occasion place rather than a quick stop-off-on-the-way-home place.
My wife’s birthday.
The bone in filets were requested at medium rare to rare and they returned as well done. One was replaced but the other was inedible.
The bad night was made worse when the valet service brought the wrong car - an identical match that we did not notice until almost home.
Not a good night.
We had dinner at Joe's to celebrate my wife's birthday. We have been to Joe's dozens of time and they have the best food, drinks and service in town. The only downside is Joe's is always packed full. Noise levels are higher and there is always a wait to use the restroom.
We went there especially for the crab claws and we were completely amazed at the food and service. Food was stupidly amazing. We had the Crab claws for starters, the porterhouse as entree with alaskan king crab legs and the four cheese mac and cheese. Everything was on point. Service was excellent. Our waiter provided with possibly one of the finest services we’ve ever received in a restaurant. We will definitely come back once we back in town.
Great food and excellent service! Typical Chicago steak house ambiance but elegant at the same time. Waiter was very attentive and wanted to make sure the dinning experience was pristine. I took my family for New Years Day dinner which was my wife and 2 kids. Although classic Chicago Steakhouses may not seem kid friendly but Joes has great food options for kids. Make sure you book in advance as it’s a busy place and the bar area is very chaiotic. If you have a booking they will get you seated quickly. Easy place for Uber or Lyft pick up and drop off.
This was by far my best dining experience ever!! The service we received was second to none and we were never left wanting for anything, this standard was matched by the best steak I have ever eaten. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. My only complaint would be that I will forever be disappointed by other restaurants as I can’t see them living up to joes!!!
