Joe's is consistently one of the best steakhouses in town, and you shouldn't even order steak. Stone crabs are where it's at.
Server, Denise was awesome, made the meal!
Joe’s is the only place to go if you want stone crabs. The service is always professional and friendly, and the food is phenomenal!!
Good food & service. Hard to get a reservation. Noisy when crowded (always).
As Always the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding
A favorite for customer dinners in Chicago. Service is ALWAYS amazing and food FANTASTIC! Thank you for a jog well done.
We’ve been going to Joe’s since shortly after they opened and have never had a bad meal. The steaks and seafood are always outstanding as are the sides and desserts. Even on a Monday night the place is packed.
I go to Joe's a few times a year. Love the food and service. It's a fun way to treat myself after a "me day" (massage or nails, etc.). This time, I was called out by the host for being a table for 1 (I've hosted and got destroyed by my manager once for saying "just one?" to a diner and I've never forgotten the lesson). The waiter took awhile to get to me...probably 10 minutes before I was asked for my drink? They were dealing with a larger table, but it was mid-afternoon...ask someone to help you out and come see if I want a glass of wine while I look at the menu. Also, the steak (filet mignon) was fatty for the first time ever. Disappointing. I also ordered a half slice of pie and was brought a full (I wasn't sure until I got the bill and didn't seem worth bickering, but about half the piece was left on the plate). Also, there was a dinner two tables away who was loudly watching videos on his phone and no one asked him to turn it off/down/use headphones. Shocking for a place as nice as Joe's. Bummer visit...hopefully a one-off!
Everything was fantastic. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable. A bit of a damage on the wallet but totally worth it!
An incredible dinner was had by all in our party. Special occasion of a birthday was remembered and recognized by the staff. The food was prepared as requested and the staff was was professional and attentive and, not overwhelming. Justin was the lead and exceptional. Highly recommend!
Service and food was excellent. We had the large stone crab claws and king crab. Everything was delicious including the wine :) ! We will definitely dine here again on our next trip to Chicago.
It does not matter if in Chicago , DC or Vegas always good
Have been a total of 50 + times over the years
Food is great. Service was excellent. Pricey but worth it.
Fantastic food the key lime pie was the best I’ve ever had.
Outstanding crab cakes and filet. Waitress was outstanding,
Best restaurant ln Chicago
We absolutely loved it, quality food and service can't wait to go back for more!!
Outstanding meal - truly one of the better steakhouses I have eaten at anywhere in the USA.
Great crab appetizer, perfect chopped salad, spectacular porterhouse, excellent sides and wonderful key lime pie - a must have.
Will return whenever I can.
I had an absolutely delicious steak, cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. The mashed potatoes and fried asparagus we ordered as sides were amazingly good, especially the asparagus which was perfectly crispy and came with a delicious lemon butter sauce. Overall, we had a great experience and our waitress Karen was a dream; she was incredibly friendly and made sure our visit was superior.
Great menu and attentive service. Wine list does have a slightly high mark up for certain items.
Boffo, spectacular, great experience!
Fantastic service excellent food
Not very accommodating!
Best seafood EVER! Nowhere have I ever tasted such melt-in-your mouth lobster! Outstanding service, and to top off, desserts were scrumptious!
Wonderful service. Incredible food
Me and my 6 friend's had a fantastic time great food And fantastic staff
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food. One small criticism, though. The bread was quite underwhelming for a restaurant of this caliber. Doesn't take much to offer some hot fresh baked bread or even sourcing it from one of the nice spots around like Eataly or even Jewel for that matter. It just seems that this part of the meal is overlooked and the coffee could be a little better as well, like a french press or something like that. Neither would keep me from coming back. Our server, Lamar, was great and extremely attentive and gracious. Made for a super evening and the food was all prepared perfectly and very delicious.
Food was very good, as usual. Broccolini was slightly too crunchy- less cooked than al dente. Server was attentive and enthusiastic.
We had a 1:15 reservation and arrived at 1:05. Despite the reservation, and with numerous open tables and booths in the restaurant, we were seated at the worst table in the house. We were seated at the four top immediately next to the wait station at the rear of the restaurant. This meant that there was constant wait staff traffic next to my chair, which detracted greatly from the dining experience.
We enjoy coming to Joe’s when we visit Chicago but are usually treated better.
Dinner was amazing and the atmosphere incredible. Everything was done in great fashion
Reservation was at 8:30 and didn’t get seated until 8:55 :(
I was excited to return to Joe’s after a 5 year absence, but it ended up being a disappointment. The server was very pleasant if a bit slow. She seemed to be somewhat overloaded. Crab bisque soup was very good, but the portion seemed small for the price. Sea bass and filet mignon entrees were good, but pricey and had no vegetables or garnish. Isosceles Cabernet was excellent but at $28.00 per glass it should be. All in all, I have to call it a disappointment.....
Well i grew up eating at Joes in Miami Beach and this restaurant while its namesake is not joes in Miami Beach Fl. That being said it does make a good steak, but hat is about it, when i inquired of the server if the stone crabs which had only a small selection, were fresh he unfortunately answered in the wrong way. . Knowing that Joes in Miami Beach closes the third week of May and that is the last of their fresh catch and shipments and since all of Joes licensees get their stone crabs form the SDSU stir button arm of Joes MB, I already knew the Stoney’s were frozen but asked to see if the server would tell the truth unfortunately he did not. So I ordered them and any true stone crab officiant who grew up eating them at the Joes MB will tell you we know frozen when we first bite into them, and these were frozen. So I told this to the server and he said oh well. So if you go to this Joes be careful if its after May 15th the stone crabs are frozen, and our server needs to either be fired or a strong lesson in his chosen profession on how to conduct himself. I will tell you that Abby the Maitre’D D and Manager is one the reasons why you should try this restaurant and do give it a chance she is professional and honest and I will go back if for no other reason but for her and her professional attitude. The food is good and the steak was excellent but I gave this restaurant a ow rating because I do not like being lied to.
Great dinner with friends who had never been to Joe’s. Steaks and sides, as well as desserts were great!
Fabulous as always!
Great food and service...
As a tourist, I ate at Joe's 15 years ago for lunch and had the best key lime pie ever! Back to Chicago 15 years later for work and "remembered" I had the best key lime pie in Chicago which is an odd place to have the best key lime pie! Remembered it was at Joes, so went back for dinner and pie and everything was outstanding! Waitress was outstanding and although the price may seem high for Alaskan King Crab legs, they are worth every penny! Key lime pie just like I remembered....and cocktails are outstanding. Pricey but worth it...would definitely return if I am lucky enough to find myself back in Chicago.
Great lunch. Made a reservation for a return the next day.
Wonderful food and attentive service. Noise level is a challenge. One other challenge: aggressive sales effort when ordering
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service!
