What Insiders Are Saying
Joe's is consistently one of the best steakhouses in town, and you shouldn't even order steak. Stone crabs are where it's at.
Lively atmosphere, great service and good food!
My grilled Halibut was very dry no flavor whatsoever
The charred Octopus had no seasoning compared to other places I had it before
Not too thrilled about a place for prime seafood.
Super meal! With great service and ambience!!
Joe’s is always our favorite place to celebrate a special occasion. The key lime pie and peanut butter pie are favorites.
I ‘d like it better if it was quieter
Great dining experience!
Very much enjoyed our dinner out at Joe's. The table was ready per our reservation and the dining room filled up after we arrived. our server, Ceara, was great and took fantastic care of us, suggesting seasonal specials and explaining some menu items to us. The food, well, it was just plain great. My Filet was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth, Lobster was great and the rest of our Anniversary dinner was excellent. Thank you Joe's for making our 1st anniversary dinner special to us.
Food was delicious. Our waiter Seph was very helpful and attentive. My wife and I will be back.
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Absolutely wonderful meal ... definitely going back next time I’m in the area. Our server was outstanding! Loved the bisque, fried green tomatoes, seafood chopped salad, and oysters! Best seafood ever👍
Our server Chris was excellent
Amazing food and amazing service!! First time eating stone crabs...was definitely an experience since we weren’t quite sure how to eat them, but we figured it out and they were superb!! I had the Mahi-mahi which was so delicious and my husband had the filet...cooked perfectly! Worth the extra money for sure! Our server was excellent and attentive along with all the other servers ensuring we had what we wanted and needed at the very moment we needed it!!! EXCEPTIONAL!!! Will definitely dine there again!!!
Considering the insignificant slivers of crab meat for $60.00 minimum not worth the cost. Fried green tomatoes as side very tough.
The food and service are impeccable at Joe’s. Cant go wrong with any lettuce restaurant. The best.
When traveling, our family likes to have at least one meal at a high end steakhouse. There are lots of places that serve good steaks, but a excelently prepared steak is rather hard to find. Joe's was highly recommended to us. Our waitress treated us like royalty. The food was incredible. Our table enjoyed steaks and seafood! Both were prepared exactly as we wanted and each bite was a little taste of heaven. They have a large selection of wines and we found it hard to choose one! But the one we selected paired with our meal rather well. We even saved a little room for desert. We would definitely return on our next visit to Chicago!!
The food was tasty and the steak was prepared well. The stone crab in my opinion was not totally fresh and the shells were very difficult to remove. I would not recommend this item. The baked potato was soft and did not at all have a crispy crust. The pies were a total disappointment. Crusts were soggy and the bananas in one pie were black and certainly not fresh. The final bill was not cheap and overall not worth the money.
Excelente trato!! Nos festejaron nuestro aniversario con un pastel
Es sin duda, el mejor restaurante de Chicago
Excellent service and food was very good. Had the mahi mahi special and it was good (not great). Would’ve been better with a little sauce with mushrooms. But overall, great choice.
Our favorite restaurant. We go there every year for our anniversary and other special occasions. Wish we could go everynight. Food is always terrific and service is exceptional. Russ was our waiter and we will ask for him everytime. Stone crabs, lobster and crab legs are terrific and Lyannaise potatoes are to die for. My husband had the dry aged bone in ribeye and said it the best steak he has every eaten.
Joes got everything right We split a lot of items so that we could experience more dishes. We started with a half dozen oysters and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about both. We then split a wedge salad. Sounds pretty typical for a steak and crab restaurant so far but it wasn’t The oysters came with a mignonette sauce of shaved ice The salad came with two dressings and crisp pork belly cubes and chopped cherry tomatoes and avocado.
I had crab stuffed baked shrimp that was cooked perfectly. The stuffing was just about all crab. Everything was moist and tender and hot. My husband had the skirt steak. It was a perfect half inch steak done to his liking
We finished with the Havana Dream pie which was to die for with tres leches with caramel custard and dulce de Lethe. Then the chocolate pie
Wonderful food and service.
Enjoyed an excellent birthday dinner for our niece. She says the chocolate brownie birthday treat was the best ever!
I don’t go here often but when I do, I always have a grear time. The food is good and the service is impeccable. I haven’t had better fried chicken anywhere else in Chicago.
Comida muy rica y buen servicio, solo un poco apretados los espacios
Every single time, the meal is perfection! The food is perfectly cooked, and the service is top notch. Glasses are always full, shells emptied and hot towels promptly presented. Starting when you walk through the door, the maitre’d sets the tone, and the training and strong management is apparent. We will keep coming, because it is the one restaurant that never disappoints!
Our reservation was for 5:30 so we went to bar for happy hour which was over at 5pm. My only complaint was that I would love for it to have been at least until 5:30. Our server, Chris was very friendly and we never felt rushed at all. We had the petite filet and asked for medium which was cooked perfectly! Steak was tender and delicious. We also split an order of mac n cheese which was very good. Ambience was very nice with waiters in suits and bow ties making it very classy. This was our first visit to Chicago so we were offered the Key Lime Pie complimentary. If ever in Chicago again would definitely return and would also refer to anyone going to Chicago.
Great evening with great food/service.....no complaints!!!!
I always recommend Joe's as a favorite and made a point to go there when we were in town.
I had high hopes for our second visit to Joe's. Maybe this was a one-off, but both entrees missed their respective marks by a country mile. We arrived early, and were "greeted" by a host who both never acknowledged our presence, nor interrupted his telephone conversation. Definitely NOT a good omen. It was the luncheon hour and my better half and I had read great reviews of Joe's fried chicken; many columnists and bloggers have sung its praises. Either these people have never SEEN a chicken; live, fried, or otherwise, or they've never had really GOOD fried chicken to use as a standard. Sad to say, I have had more palatable offerings in a certain fast-food restaurant who's mascot wears a white suit and sports a like-color beard and mustache. What was served to us at Joe's was mediocre, dry, bread-laden, and salty. In short, uninspiring. Fish and Chips was likewise ho-hum; looked and tasted suspiciously like food-service fare. (HINT: if the pieces are all EXACTLY the same size...) The only redeemer was the Key Lime Pie which, alas, was too little, too late. There are those who will question the logic of ordering fried chicken with fish and chips in a steak and seafood restaurant. My response? You'd better be on your game for every item that's printed and served on your menu. If not, it will come back to haunt you.
There are lots of great, hip and trendy restaurants in Chicago. But few have the whole package - impeccable service, fabulous atmosphere, and outstanding cuisine. Joe's has it all and then some. We have made it a tradition to take my 83 year old mother to Joe's on her birthday and the staff goes above and beyond. Love this restaurant!
I usually have amazing service. This night I didn’t have the same kind of service. Food was amazing as always.
Food was outstanding and server was exceptional-Mercedes (I think) made our night exceptional!
Great service, food, wine and dirty martinis. Mary was awesome!
Kevin was terrific. Recommended watermelon salad was incredibly delicious. Fried chicken and sweet corn were outstanding. Joe’s is a must stop.
I'm a repeat customer and I am never disappointed!! Our waitperson, Liz was VERY good! We'll be back as often as possible!
Best restaurant in Chicago - period!!
Good quality food. Stake was well cooked and service was good.
Great food, impeccable service, and great selection!!
I loved it. It was my first time there with my mother. We went there to Celebrate her birthday. The management staff was so nice to us. The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was delicious. I will be going back to Joe’s in September for my birthday. Also my mom and I loved our server. His name is Wayne. He is so kind and friendly. He treats you like you have been a regular for years. Wayne is very attentive to your every need. He made my 78 year old mom laugh and smile. Which she doesn't do much of that since we lost my dad. ThankYou Joe’s and thanks again Wayne for making my moms birthday fabulous. PS Wayne my mom said she can't wait to come next month and see you her son 😊 Wayne keep up the good work you are a asset to this company. See you next month. Ms Douglas
