What Insiders Are Saying
Joe's is consistently one of the best steakhouses in town, and you shouldn't even order steak. Stone crabs are where it's at.
We went to Joe’s for my daughters birthday and it was fantastic. Everyone had something different and no one was disappointed. We’ll definitely dine here again.
Absolutely spectacular! Our server, Dave, was absolutely incredible and made our evening so special. The King Crab was by far our favorite item on the menu. I would highly encourage anyone to dine at Joe’s!
Service and food are outstanding. Looking forward to going back again.
All around fabulous , food, wine ,value, ambience, and service. A must for the foodie in your life

She is from Miami but said they had better done crab than she got in Florida as a child
Overall outstanding experience and food was superb
Amazing service and food was delicious as usual!
Ive been coming to Joes for a long time and last night was a shock to me. Im extremely disappointed in the amount of food i was given for the price i paid. I was charged $70 for two crab legs cut into pieces. I paid $153 for two meals and left still hungry and unsatisfied. Im sad to say Joes as lost a long time customer in me.
We had a reservation at 830, we got there a few minutes early to get a drink. Got sat at the best table in house, in the back corner booth that was so romantic for Valentines Day! Our server Charles was outstanding. So knowledgeable on food and just a great conversationalist. We had the stone crab claws, and Madagascar shrimp as apps and licked the plates clean. For dinner we shared the Filet Oscar and Dover sole, absolutely perfectly cooked and presentation was great. The side of Brussels sprouts was one of the best things I’ve eaten. To top it off we got 2 desserts and devoured them as much as we could. It was a great night and we couldn’t thank Charles enough. Highly recommend. Also my mojito was like it came right out of Florida, so good.
Everything was great. The food was excellent
We had such a wonderful time at Joe’s. The food and service was excellent and we can’t wait to go back!!
Good old fashioned food. Steaks, seafood and sides are all consistent and tasty. Drinks and desserts are also terrific. You won't be disappointed.
Went above and beyond. Very friendly and interactive staff! Great atmosphere and the food was perfect!
Food was delicious!! Service was friendly & timely. We appreciated the chocolate covered strawberries we got for Valentine’s Day.
wonderful place to drink, dine , and enjoy friends.
Amazing customer service. Great quality food drinks/food!
Every staff person we encountered were outstanding in personality and knowledge. I can't thank you enough for an amazing experience, as I was there with my Boss and and they were impressed with my choice : )
We had the perfect business dinner. European guest approved of the Lobster and King Crab! I loved the Crab Bisque.
Very extensive menu and excellent culinary cooking.
The Chop Salad was hearty and flavorful. The Bisque was excellent.
Great experience as always. Steve our server was great
Outstanding food and a fun place to dine. Our server was excellent.
Excellent food, great experience.
So glad our waiter recommended that we at least try the Stone Crab. It was so fresh and so delicious!! All the seafood we had was very fresh and so tasty!!
We were there to celebrate my daughters birthday and it was amazing. The service was stellar, fist class and dinner was delicious. I have no complaints.
Consistently awesome which cannot be said for very many places. I used to like their wine list somewhat more a few years ago but there are still lots of fine choices.
Steak was a bit over cooked. Usually the food is excellent, perhaps just an off day for the cook.
Excellent service. Old school steakhouse with great food. It was our first time at this location and it did not disappoint.
This is a limited review because I had eaten a late breakfast so I wasn't particularly hungry but I just had to sample Joe's fish tacos before catching a flight home. In particular, I wanted to compare Joe's Tacos to those I have eaten in San Diego and La Jolla.
Joe's Mahi-Mahi tacos were as good as those I had in California. But they were small (three) and expensive ($17.95). I also had a really good glass of French white wine (a lessor-growth Chablis) for $15 per glass. I sampled the French Sancerre also, which was very good, but did mot complement the tacos as well as the Chablis did.
Bottom line is that I look forward to a full dinner at Joe's the next time I visit Chicago (which will not be in the winter!).
Food was good and priced Appropriately. Key Lime pie was excellent. Seating was very tight and felt like you were in your neighbors conversation. Very Loud.... great for night out with friends. Not so much a place for a romantic meal with you love.
Always great service and food never a fails !!!
Always a great place to bring out-of-towners. The food was great and the wine list always has the right selection to pair with your food choice.
Very good, as always. Very expensive, as always. We’ll go back, as always.
Chris (waiter), Matt (Mgr) were exceptional, very attentive.
Our favorite restaurant in Chicago...for probably 15 years has been Joes - so I am not happy to write this review. And...I want to be clear that there was much about this visit that was excellent. First the good. We were late yet they accommodated us quickly. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The valets, host and coat room people did their jobs. It is possible that, because our visit was on a weekend, the restaurant acts differently. But I would never again go back on a Friday. Maybe I will stick to lunches.
First, the glasses on the table were filthy. We brought along a $600 bottle of wine. They replaced the glasses when we requested a change...but with more of the cheap glasses. The sommelier came over because we offered a taste of the wine. We never saw him again, even after ordering a $175 half-bottle. This should have merited a visit. They took our bottle off the table and then forgot which table it belonged to. So I had to go to the wine station, after waiting for some time with an empty glass, to find out what had happened. Our server was so busy that we rarely saw our server. We were trying to time our wine and food courses, and ultimately managed to do so, but not without a lot of effort tracking down the staff.
I tipped anyway...and will be back. I am giving them a pass for one bad dinner after many years of great dinners. As I noted, we probably will not be back on weekends. It is just too busy. I hope the next visit will not turn us off forever.
Probably the best steak house in Chicago. Great service and atmosphere.
Best bread basket, key lime aioli to die for and mint ice cream a must.
Everything was great!!! Service, food, atmosphere, will definitely be back and highly recommended!!!
