I will keep this short...Joe's Cafe has been around since the 1920's. It is a busy place, lots of energy. The food is mediocre at best. Our server was helpful while ordering but disappeared after the food was delivered. We had empty glasses (no refills offered) and lots of dirty plates on our table but nothing happened until the very end when a busboy came by to take the dirty plates. I had the ribs...tender but very little sauce. Vegetables were lukewarm, baked potato was fine. My husband had the prime rib. It was heavy with fat and a bone. Disappointing. We will not go back. I ordered an Old Fashion from the bar and it was a nice strong drink. I think it is the bar that keeps this place going.

Joe's has a very homey feel. The menu is filled with diner-like comfort foods. The staff is very friendly and welcoming; I see why this has been a Santa Barbara staple.

They have a nice bar where the cocktails are good and strong!

Joe’s is the best! Been going there since 1978. Great food and strong drinks. A must do if you are from out of town.

We went Joe’s for my birthday breakfast and it should be something very American. We ordered Joe’s omelette and banana pancakes, to drink coffee, cappuccino and fresh squeezed orange juice. They’ve too much of potion for us but we loved it very much. By the way the omelette tasted really like my mom’s homemade. ❤️

Not sure how this restaurant gets the ratings it does. I eat out A LOT. The service was less than average and the food was diner quality. Specifically, I had the raviolis in meat sauce and it was just "ok." The cornbread was dry and wasn't delivered with the advertised "butter/honey" that was on the menu. The server was nice, but his english wasn't great and he was handling too many tables to be of good service. If you're going to advertise that you're the oldest restaurant in town and deserve my business, please provide some ambiance or food to validate that claim.

The waitress was super nice and really fun. The prime rib is to die for... and on a trip back to the bathroom I noticed they had pie. OMG, the blackberry pie was the topper to a fantastic mean. I am sooo going back as soon as I can.

I have been dining at Joe's for almost 50 years. The drinks are stiff, the food is reliably good, and the price is right. The calamari steak is highly recommended.

Joe's is always a great time. They reserved my table for me through OpenTable without a problem. I love Joes and have been dining there since 1978. It's like home. A must see for people visiting. Always recommended.

Old school charm. The service was expedient, and our food was good. Exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant that has been in business for over 80 years.

Great food - incredible service, almost too fast! I have a friend from Santa Barbara named Joe so i thought we would dine at Joe's. My friend Joe now lives in Charleston, SC where I live and I'm only telling you this because Open Table said I did not write enough on this review. :)

We've lived here for almost 4 years and have been wanting to try Joe's....and finally got there with some friends the other night. It is like a step back in time! Wooden high-wall booths and waiters in tuxedo jackets. They have a fairly extensive menu and we all tried something different and compared notes. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. And, the drinks! Oh my! Their bartenders knows how to pour!

Spur of the moment breakfast off State St in St Barbara
Inside a throw back to 50's style dining in Bronx or Brooklyn style restaurants gone by
