Joe's American Bar and Grill - Woburn Ratings and Reviews
Thanksgiving meal. Waiter was abrupt and forgetful. He was halfway across the room, walking towards us, when he asked "do you know what you want?" Didn't even fully get to our table. Full menu was an option but we all opted for the Thanksgiving menu which was a starter of chowder or salad, either turkey with all the fixings or cod with rice and succotash, and a dessert. The waiter initially didn't ask my mother or me which starter we wanted, we had to remind him that it was included. Salads were fine, according to my parents, but the chowder wasn't hot and was not very flavorful. Turkey dinner was supposed to include cranberry sauce; it was not on the plate. The fish came with green beans instead of succotash. There was no explanation or even mention that it would be different. We asked for the dessert, but one was to go. They all came out on plates.
I might have been willing to excuse it if it was super busy, but half the tables were empty. I can now see why.
We will not do this one again.
Good food, but a little overpriced. I'm tired of hearing "the bread is in the oven". Bread used to come when greeted by the server. I end up asking multiple times, and then ask a manager. Even then, the bread comes minutes before the meal. We like to have bread with our wine while waiting for the entree.
The food was terrific - steaks cooked to spec, sides very tasty. Service seemed a bit lost as there was too long a wait between check-ins and sorting out the bill. Been here before and service was top-notch, so while this time was sub-par, I wouldn't hesitate to go again with business colleagues.
We were a party of 10 and our server was a bit inept. It's unfortunate for her since the table had several experienced servers and bartenders and we're usually an easy bunch. The server was slow to water the table bringing only one or two glasses at a time. Also, the bread, which is very good, didn't appear until well after cocktails were served. The food was satisfactory, neither super good or a train wreck. My sister inlaw who does not eat meat ordered the veggie burger and when it arrived was unsure due tothe low lighting. I took a bite for her since she gets ill if she eats meat. It was a regular meat hamburger. It took several minutes to get the server's attention and then she apologized and said they'd cook her a new one. In the meantime, all other meals had been served and so we waited so my sister in law wouldn't have to eat alone. The wait time is unavoidable but annoying. The new veggie burger took about 10 more minutes. I believe that the veggie burger should have been removed from the check as a sign of good faith but was not. The server was friendly and did offer to split the checks up, which she did. The veggie burger thing left a bad taste in our mouths...no pun intended.
Joe's American Grill is an automatic stop when in the Woburn area. Comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, attentive & welcoming staff and full selection of craft beers to accompany a wide choice of properly prepared meal choices....ranging from bar snacks to steak dinners. See you all again on my next visit
I hadn't been here in awhile and was looking for somewhere comfortable, casual with good moderate priced food. I had never had a bad meal here and we were celebrating a 60th birthday and there were 11 of us. Being right off of 128 in Woburn made it very accessible to all attending. We were kindly greeted by Rosanna, at the door, the setup for our group was great and AJ was our fun, outgoing waiter. Everyone was very happy with their meal, nothing was rushed, brought our own cake which they refrigerated and served to us with candles lit when the time was appropriate. Needless to say, I am very happy I made this choice and so was the family. Thank you!!
Food was fantastic! Restaurant was clean and quiet. Waiter was shady... ordered a kids meal, billed for an adult portion, as we were discussing the issue, he came back and gave us another check with the child portion. I wonder how many people just pay without looking!!
I frequent this restaurant as a result of trying it once from open tables app. My 19 year old daughter came for a visit and was pleased that most dishes can be made gluten free upon request.
The food is always great here or I wouldn't keep coming back. We shared gluten free nachos which were surprisingly good. My daughter ordered ribs and her comment was that they fell off the bone and downed them in no time. I ordered a lobster roll. The lobster roll was great. Loaded with meat. Not a lot of filler ingredients. It's simplicity was appealing to me and was not soaked in anything that would drownits taste. The sweet potatoes fries always rock here.
The waitress was awesome. Attentive. Friendy. And knowkedgable.
The decor is rustic American with cozy atmosphere. A bit noisey. Prices are reasonable. Bathroom is a bit of a walk from any location in the restaurant.
I will continue to frequent this pkace
I have written a few reviews on this spot. I found this restaurant through OpenTable. 1,000 point option in 2016. I went to another location but by far this particular spot is the best.i went to other locations, but the wait staff and the chefs are the best and most consistent here.
I decided to take Dad for Father's day. I always order the calamari as an appetizer when I come and today was no exception. The calamari here is always perfect. Not chewy. Great blend of sweet and hot peppers and perfectly coated. Dad ordered chicken piccata, and seemed to think it was average compared to others. My girlfriend and I both ordered the baby back ribs meatloaf! Wow. What a palate pleaser. Yes, they use the meat from the ribs as the basis for the meatloaf. Mashed potatoes was perfect compliment.
I ordered Berry rubarb with ice cream. Was very tasty. Dad ordered the butterscotch bread pudding, a trademark desert. Initially we were told they were sold out. When the wait manager came around to ask how things are going, I expressed disappointment that dad couldn't try this. She said they actually had three more. So brought one out. Dad said he would try a couple of bites and I could have the rest. About thiry bites later he cleaned it off and said this was the definition of decadence! He enjoyed himself. I was happy that the wait staff was so friendly and attentive.
I keep coming in back here because I love the place. But be warned that they are not all the same. The one in Woburn is best. Open table pointed me here and I stayed. Worth the try.
The day of our reservation I had received a call from the restaurant confirming our reservation and to see if we needed any special accommodations, at which time we had a brief conversation and was told if we wanted to we could bring in a few balloons and even our own cake for the celebration.
On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome by the Hostess as we walked in. There was some light friendly dialogue then seated promptly to our table. Our server took a few minutes to warm up to our large group but once doing so, was very accommodating especially in helping us get the children fed first. The server never rushed us through the meal and kept checking back periodically to see if we needed anything as we celebrated out daughter's college graduation from law school. For appetizers we had the fresh mozzarella on a basil flat bread, and calamari both of which we would all savored and recommend.
Dinner we had an array of food ranging from pan roasted salmon on a bed of spinach, chicken piccata tender enough to cut with a fork, and prime rib French dip that melted in your mouth. Overall we thought Joe's American Bar & Grill did a good job in helping us celebrate this milestone in our daughter life and we look forward in coming back again.
We asked for a round table and were very easily accommodated. The server was more than patient with us both when ordering wine and our entrees. They say they accommodate those who are Gluten Free but it was very difficult to get answers about that. There is not an extensive menu but certainly enough to satisfy every dining taste.
I frequent this restaraunt. They have awesome calamari, cooked very well, with a little spice from some fried hot peppers. Ideal for my palate with two dipping sauces. I ordered a lamb burger with Greek salad and sweet potatoes fries. Was wonderful. My friends ordered salmon and Cobb salad respectively. I mooched a piece of grilled salmon. Again great food. And our waiter was super friendly and attentive. Warm American decor. And a friendly atmosphere. I love this place . Not all are the same though. I visited two other Joe's. Neither one was as warm, friendly or as good with the calamari. In two other spots it was chewy. This place I think has the best chefs in the chain. Hence I keep going back there
We had a good time and good food at dinner. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about was the salad portion that went with the sesame seared tuna.........the salad was very limited and was not very fresh. too much cabbage in it rather than greens.
Joe's American Bar & Grill is a local restaurant that can accommodate large groups. There were only four of us but there were a couple of large graduation parties taking place. We had a good waiter despite the other groups and we were able to relax and not have to rush.
We had a fairly good experience. It was Mother's Day so we expected it to be a little busy. However everyone just seemed to be running around like crazy with little order to the system. We were served fairly well. The food was good but not outstanding or particularly memorable.
