Everything was good, just a little pricey for a burger.
Dining room could be kept cleaner, but service is usually steady and food choices reliable. A good middling choice, with the handy option of Open Table reservations reliably managed.
Our service was excellent! The food was great too! We will definitely be back!
Waiter was polite and service was good. I bit too pricey, though.
A comfortable spot after a long day at the office. Good place to relax. Good food choices. I had a special request with my order that was fully met even though it was contrary to policy.
Menu needs improvement. Not enough choices like they used too but what we had was good ..
Jesse, our server, was on top of his game. The food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Love to do it again!
Our server Courtney was amazing!
Our waiter was very helpful. The food was good and portions were perfect.
Had a girls night out, food and service was great!! Definitely will be back again soon!
Excellent service and food.
The place was Okay, right off the bat though, the front door host did not want to listen to what I had to say. I gave him my name, reservation time of 7pm, and the number of people stated on the reservation. He looked on the computer to find my name. However a pop up on the screen hid half my first name in the reservations for 7pm that night. Rather than moving the pop up he simply said he couldn't find me in the system. I had to point at my name on the computer myself, of 3 reservations at 7pm and that my name was the only one to start with D, I was very unimpressed. Being the first one there of my group I let him know there was more to come, and that they would be arriving between 7pm and 730pm, he stated he would usher them as they arrived, of the 10 people to show he was only around for one besides myself. It wouldn't have been a big thing, but we were in the back so it wasn't a clear view to the door. The wait staff was nice, they were attentive to finished dishes and empty glasses from taking over the table. One thing I noticed for the alcoholic drinks, they wouldn't ask if you wanted another, which I can agree on. They were on point and my waiter buddy "H" got compensated for the quality service and length of time we were there. As far as the food goes, I didn't order anything that would have stood out too much, a fancy burger that every chain has. If I had to compare, it would fall under the 99's category. Another great thing is they weren't pushy, "Are you all set?", "Did you want the check now?", nope he saw that the crowd was finished, then brought it over. Always tip in cash
My service grade does not necessarily reflect their performance. It was a busy night, but I still did not find complete pleasure in certain waiting lengths. The food was excellent and the chefs certainly handled their own on a relatively crowded night. Overall it was excellent dining and I will certainly return to eat again.
We had a great experience. Went with friends and all had a variety of salads with chicken. We all liked our meals- They were priced a little more than typical but atmosphere was worth it. Only complaint was coming from out of town, I had no idea where the restaurant was as it is hidden behind another building and even at night, the street sign was not lit up and could not be seen.
We enjoyed the experience overall, and our service was excellent (though the restaurant/non bar side was also pretty slow/quiet). Our meals were very good but too high in price for our tastes. Steaks for instance were in the $35-$40 range, which is quite high for this type of neighborhood bar & grille restaurant, especially when places like Capital Grille, Cafe Escadrille, and Strega Prime are so nearby and not much more than that for a better steak and dining experience overall. As a result, we opted for French Dip Sandwiches, which were very tasty but still a bit overpriced at $17.
We WOULD return though, and would likely stick to salads and/or burgers. Our server Jess was very attentive, and we both let her know and tipped her accordingly. We also enjoyed meeting Joe's Boston Mayor Marty Walsh look-alike.
The food was ok . Unfortunately the changes in the menu are not appealing and food preparation is very different than before.
WHILE THE FOOD WAS GOOD, AND IT WAS CONVENIENT TO WHERE WE WERE STAYING ON NYE, THE WAITER (JAMAL??) MADE THE NIGHT.
Best bread anywhere and our server was awesome. Why can't they have regular nachos on the menu? They had tuna with avocado cream nachos. Sounds horrible lol. But we will definitely be back!
It was a nice evening with good food and service
Disappointing dinner. Large tough asparagus, cod tasteless. Chicken ziti broccoli had a pinky sauce with a peanut taste. Husbands sirloin was tasty but not the 8 oz advertised. The onion soup was good. My memories were tastier than the actual food.
We like Joe's but the service at this particular location leaves a bit to be desired. The restaurant was relatively empty (9:00 pm on Saturday night and bad weather) but our server was very slow and a bit rude in the way he served the food. We won't go back to this location again.
Apparently Joe's has updated their menu to be a little bit foo-foo for my taste. After 2 beers/2 wines, 2 entrees, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert the bill was over $100 - certainly not a value. They replaced their real nachos with approximately 8 tiny chips with some raw tuna on them, which was a huge disappointment.
I'm not a frequent customer and perhaps that shows, but it certainly wasn't in my pay range which is less than 80K. If you're into foo-foo type food; you have the money and don't mind paying, I guess it would be a much better fit for you.
Nancy met a girlfriend for girl-time catch-up. It was enjoyable, drinks and food were good (we both had hamburgers), service was great!
Will be returning to do another catch-up!
Thank you & Merry Christmas!
Took a little time to be waited on but other that that the place was great . I would go back again great waitress and a great management staff.
We have been here several times before and it is always a fun time, good food, and friendly service at reasonable prices.
The service at the bar was extremely friendly and efficient while we waited for our friends - and then ditto with our table waitress.
We went to Joe's for Thanksgiving dinner. Hostess, server and food were great as always. Very clean and quaint.
Great place. The menu could be a bit bigger though.
Been to Joe's several times in the past. Went for thanksgiving and couldn't have been more disappointed. Food was cold. Waitress was horrible. Manager and chef did come to table and apologize. Used to have a great menu, but now just one page. Overall, very disappointed.
Not as good as in the past. Ordered the Turkey dinner, 3/4 plate was stuffing, no mashed potatoes, no cranberry sauce. Unfortunately I don't think we will go next next year.
The server made the evening. Phenomenal professional, efficient, fun and happy . (Courtney)
I eat there regularly; they always save me a booth that I like and is easy to access.
Seated immediately. Service was great. Burgers were excellent. Good family place.
As a semi-annual visitor to the area I always enjoy the ambiance, the attentive staff, the fine selection of craft beers...among the full selection of other adult beverages...and, of course, the menu....which offers something for nearly everyone. There is a "Cheers" impression at Joe's. If that is the kind of place you would enjoy, then I recommend you stop in for the fine food, a selection of beverages and plenty of friendship...served daily !
Great waitperson. Mediocre food.
Went out witha friend for dinner and conversation. Service was good, though I had to return my silverware because it appeared quite dirty. The staff replaced it quickly, was very friendly and attentive to drink refills.
Decor is warm and very American themed. Noise was minimal as it was Halloween and not many people were there. Easy to have conversation. Plenty of parking.
We both got calamari appetizer. Was terrific. Cooked perfectly. And we both got "the cure" burgers. Incredible! beef patty, ribs and onion strings and an egg. Was phenomenal. Tastey average to highh pricing for burger section. But worth it!
Joe's American Bar and Grill is a great place to find a variety for a couple or a large group. Excellent food and service.
Have been here a few times with my Wife. This is a good casual place to catch a bite for a burger or on of their suppers. Nothing really special - but same good general steady quality.
The problem was nothing stood out !
Chef Kevin Mitchell cane out to our table to ensure our dinner was to satisfaction. There were 5 of us and we all had a different meal, all were delicious. The short rib meat loaf is to die for. Back bay Sangria was fantastic. Our server was Ashley and she was absolutely fabulous.
They have an outstanding menu of burgers, steaks and basic Americana . I had a crab cake for appetizer, a called the cure which had BBQ ribs, onion rings, cheese and bacon on it and a side of sweet potato fries. Was awesome food. My guest had a salad which she enjoyed.
Service was fantastic. Our server was attentive, always had a demeanor, and enjoyed his work which came through in the service.
My guest asked them to bring something out with a candle in it for my birthday, and they brought out a gooey pan cookies with ice cream on it and a candle. No singing or antics.
I love the warm decor. All wood. Looks like wholesome America . Lighting was semi dark to create privacy and a bit of romance.
