I frequent this restaurant as a result of trying it once from open tables app. My 19 year old daughter came for a visit and was pleased that most dishes can be made gluten free upon request.
The food is always great here or I wouldn't keep coming back. We shared gluten free nachos which were surprisingly good. My daughter ordered ribs and her comment was that they fell off the bone and downed them in no time. I ordered a lobster roll. The lobster roll was great. Loaded with meat. Not a lot of filler ingredients. It's simplicity was appealing to me and was not soaked in anything that would drownits taste. The sweet potatoes fries always rock here.
The waitress was awesome. Attentive. Friendy. And knowkedgable.
The decor is rustic American with cozy atmosphere. A bit noisey. Prices are reasonable. Bathroom is a bit of a walk from any location in the restaurant.
I will continue to frequent this pkace
Lobster roll for >$20 should contain meaningful amounts of lobster...
Childhood friends get together five or six times a year to talk about old times and to try to solve the problems of the world and those of the Red Sox!
Great food and service, but I realized after I left that we didn't get the WEL15 discount.
Speedy and nice service. We where a large party of 8, so it was good to not be delayed.. Only plate that was not good was the nachos appetizer.
I have written a few reviews on this spot. I found this restaurant through OpenTable. 1,000 point option in 2016. I went to another location but by far this particular spot is the best.i went to other locations, but the wait staff and the chefs are the best and most consistent here.
I decided to take Dad for Father's day. I always order the calamari as an appetizer when I come and today was no exception. The calamari here is always perfect. Not chewy. Great blend of sweet and hot peppers and perfectly coated. Dad ordered chicken piccata, and seemed to think it was average compared to others. My girlfriend and I both ordered the baby back ribs meatloaf! Wow. What a palate pleaser. Yes, they use the meat from the ribs as the basis for the meatloaf. Mashed potatoes was perfect compliment.
I ordered Berry rubarb with ice cream. Was very tasty. Dad ordered the butterscotch bread pudding, a trademark desert. Initially we were told they were sold out. When the wait manager came around to ask how things are going, I expressed disappointment that dad couldn't try this. She said they actually had three more. So brought one out. Dad said he would try a couple of bites and I could have the rest. About thiry bites later he cleaned it off and said this was the definition of decadence! He enjoyed himself. I was happy that the wait staff was so friendly and attentive.
I keep coming in back here because I love the place. But be warned that they are not all the same. The one in Woburn is best. Open table pointed me here and I stayed. Worth the try.
Fathers Day was perfect at this place and the calamari was to-die-for!!! Waitress was awesome, food was perfect! We are coming back again and again!
The day of our reservation I had received a call from the restaurant confirming our reservation and to see if we needed any special accommodations, at which time we had a brief conversation and was told if we wanted to we could bring in a few balloons and even our own cake for the celebration.
On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome by the Hostess as we walked in. There was some light friendly dialogue then seated promptly to our table. Our server took a few minutes to warm up to our large group but once doing so, was very accommodating especially in helping us get the children fed first. The server never rushed us through the meal and kept checking back periodically to see if we needed anything as we celebrated out daughter's college graduation from law school. For appetizers we had the fresh mozzarella on a basil flat bread, and calamari both of which we would all savored and recommend.
Dinner we had an array of food ranging from pan roasted salmon on a bed of spinach, chicken piccata tender enough to cut with a fork, and prime rib French dip that melted in your mouth. Overall we thought Joe's American Bar & Grill did a good job in helping us celebrate this milestone in our daughter life and we look forward in coming back again.
Food was very mediocre. This location does not hold a candle to their location on Newbury Street. It's like two completely different restaurants.
The ground lamb burger with side Greek salad was quite tasty. A fairly limited menu.
We asked for a round table and were very easily accommodated. The server was more than patient with us both when ordering wine and our entrees. They say they accommodate those who are Gluten Free but it was very difficult to get answers about that. There is not an extensive menu but certainly enough to satisfy every dining taste.
Really lovely setting and delicious food and wonderful service!!!
I will be back and send folks your way...
I frequent this restaraunt. They have awesome calamari, cooked very well, with a little spice from some fried hot peppers. Ideal for my palate with two dipping sauces. I ordered a lamb burger with Greek salad and sweet potatoes fries. Was wonderful. My friends ordered salmon and Cobb salad respectively. I mooched a piece of grilled salmon. Again great food. And our waiter was super friendly and attentive. Warm American decor. And a friendly atmosphere. I love this place . Not all are the same though. I visited two other Joe's. Neither one was as warm, friendly or as good with the calamari. In two other spots it was chewy. This place I think has the best chefs in the chain. Hence I keep going back there
We had a good time and good food at dinner. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about was the salad portion that went with the sesame seared tuna.........the salad was very limited and was not very fresh. too much cabbage in it rather than greens.
Joe's American Bar & Grill is a local restaurant that can accommodate large groups. There were only four of us but there were a couple of large graduation parties taking place. We had a good waiter despite the other groups and we were able to relax and not have to rush.
Requested a high chair with reservation and didnt get one until an he in after asking twice. Ordered a prime rib and found out they were all out after everyone got their food. Server was nice though.
We had a fairly good experience. It was Mother's Day so we expected it to be a little busy. However everyone just seemed to be running around like crazy with little order to the system. We were served fairly well. The food was good but not outstanding or particularly memorable.
Crowded Mother's Day but we (5) were seated within 5 minutes in a room with other families! Our waitress was rushed but very accommodating and seemed happy to be there. Meal came, mine was cold and had a funny "spicy" taste and the server took it back. Manager came out with a new dish and as I was eating my mouth was burning. Mind you , it did not say "spicy" on the menu. Manager came by to check, saw that I wasn't eating and said I could have anything else I wanted. After a few 'no thank-you's" I settled on something else. Manager came by with server again, so incredibly sweet and eager to please, and said my dinner was "on them". Not only did they not charge us for my dinner they gave a take out of something else too!! Where can you find such gracious, accommodating servers and managers like those at Joe's ? I dare say, nowhere. Thank you Joe's for making my mother's day even more special. Home run!!!
We were there to celebrate Mother's Day also I anniversary the wife like the food I like mine also I know it was Mother's Day but still waitress service was slow The food could've been a little hotter thank you
Went here on Mothers Day and had a wonderful time. The cod with risotto was delicious! The 3 waiters we had were each very attentive. Will return here soon!
Made last minute reservations for Mother's day brunch and it was definitely the right call! Outstanding food and service!
The Mother's Day brunch was disappointing. Our service was great but the food was lackluster. The biscuits and gravy were bland and dry and the kitchen didn't respect any of the requests we made so we had to send back two out of four dishes. Also there weren't enough kid seats for all the families which meant we had our babies on our laps for the entire meal. Unfortunately even though we really wanted to like it, I wouldn't recommend or go back.
Mother's Day brunch. Can't go wrong. You get a free cocktail with your brunch entree. Kid friendly and great atmosphere with great service.
Excellent food with a new menu. Wait staff was attentive and very pleasant.
I've been visiting this location for over 11 years, and the service and quality is always consistent!
What could have been a total disaster was avoided when the new manager stepped up and offered apologies for the under cooked food of two of the meals and provided substitutes. And took care of the check for the four of us. Apparently Joe's American has been sold which we suspected when we saw a different and less appealing menu. Joe's previously had a wide assortment and many choices. This was not the case. When we questioned the manager after the food was returned he told us that indeed the company is under different management. As I said, only the smarts of the manager saved the evening and even welcomed us back with a gift card. We'll try again and hope things improve.
We had a whole bunch of apps and enjoyed our Cinco de Mayo, our waiter was amazing!!! Thanks!
(I think his name was Harry)
The floors, walls, entryway window, and table chairs are DISGUSTING and DIRTY. There were side rails that had old food and fingerprints all over. The bathroom was atrocious.
The wait staff was congenial and eager to please. Food came out timely and orders were as requested. Will never go there again due to the lack of cleanliness at this restaurant!
The food quality at this location is so poor compared to the one at Atlantic Ave in Boston. I'd ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad at the Atlantic Ave location and it was so good, so I'd decided to order the same dish at the Woburn location. I was so disappointed. Likewise, the burger was so dry compared to the other location.
Great service. Food was good, one steak was a bit overdone. Party of 5, everyone enjoyed it. There was a private large party nearby so it wasn't a quiet evening but we weren't expecting quiet.
We had a great time at Joe's on Sunday! They had the brunch menu with a free mimosa as well as Easter specials and their regular menu. Drinks were great and food was great!
Our sever Matt was attentive and friendly.
Despite having a reservation, we had to wait twenty minutes for a table. The hostess was cleared overwhelmed and unable to track the reservations very well.
Our server was really terrific and the food was great, too.
An adequate meal but nothing special. Salad was good portion but too much dressing and greens were not overly fresh. Physical location seemed a bit old and dated. Server was efficient but came on a little strong. Would not go out of my way to return there.
Good food but they rush you. Entree arrived in the middle of the salads. Felt like they had no communication. Maybe trying to turn tables.
Very busy restaurant. Very a typical American menu, standard fare burgers, steaks, chicken and a few fish offerings. The fish sandwich was very good. Options for gluten free extremely limited.
Roast beef dip sandwich not as good as before & restaurant seemed dark
Great service we got right in the delish food overall A+ would definitely go back! amazing date night ;) FYI got buffalo chicken and tuna tartare apps very good . And broccoli ziti and fish and chips for meals !
It is what it is… They claim to have recipes based on New England type food
Nothing could be further from the truth
It's a very basic burger salad snack place
It's right off the highway so if you had to grab a quick , inexpensive bite it would be worth it
