Joe's American Bar and Grill - Waterfront

Joe’s serves some of the best clam chowder in Boston. Our server was so nice and friendly, and she easily answered any questions about the menu and offered recommendations when we could not decide. Service from the kitchen was quick and all entrees were delicious. The menu offers something for everyone. We’ll definitely return.
Service was phenomenal. The nachos were delicious and BLT was enormous.
Great service. The food was really good and arrived quickly. A great place to spend Thanksgiving!
Absolutely terrific Thanksgiving dinner for seven of us. Prices/value excellent. Ambiance and service as good as can be.
Great service, great value, great food. I came in on Thanksgiving and had a delightful experience. Everyone was friendly. The food was to Thanksgiving perfection. The Back Bay Sangria is absolutely perfect and I recommend it to everyone.
Joe’s is located on great spot in the waterfront. The inside decor is traditional Boston, with mahogany tables. The food was only OK, decent but not worth a return visit. I think this place is better for a burger and beer as opposed to a meal. I would go back in the summer when they have waterfront dining outside.
Was very good. Excellent lobster roll and crab cake tater tots! Pretty views right on the water. Attentive service.
I’ve been to several of these restaurants in different cities in NE.
Can’t beat the chowder. Also anything you can pick off the menu will be very good.
Never a bad meal or service for that matter.
Consistent and reliable.
Nice location, but the restaurant was very chaotic the day we were there. The service was good and the food was decent, but I think I was served a Virgin Mary instead of a Bloody Mary :-)
Great place ,clean and service awesome, surely will recommend this place too others n already started wit friend n family
Thinking of going back with the family ...surely thinking this week to take my company workers there this place is truly great and the view to die for had a blast
Great location and food. We were a party of 12 and service was terrific.
The whole experience was great!! We love their salads!! Please don’t go away!!
Coffee was good. Waiter seemed a bit distracted for a nearly empty restaurant. Guests seemed to enjoy their omelets and French toast. I was stumped, though, by the notion of serving an omelet in a piping hot, mini cast iron skillet, where eggs arrived hard and just kept cooking in the pan. This is basic stuff. Lift your game, Joe’s.
Location was convenient. View was nice. Given both, the place should have been packed on a Saturday late morning. Maybe not everyone likes eggs that bounce. C’mon people... It’s brunch, not rocket science.
Nice view. Bloody Mary’s were like drinking tomato juice. Food was not good. We were starving so we ate it. Service was slow, took a while to get beer that was ordered. Def not a place we’d come back to.
Horrible service. Never going back.
We had another great meal at Joe’s American Bar & Grill. The service is great. They go to great lengths to make sure you are totally satisfied with your selections. Wish they would return to New Jersey. We miss their honey chicken salad!
Request for a quiet table near the water was not honored. We asked for our salads to be served first. Two minutes later our meals arrived. We were being rushed, and friends were visiting from far away! The hostess was rude when I asked about the free table we had requested in my res. Will not return here for a long time if ever!
Busy place. Did very well with a food allergy in our group. Would go back. Food was good.
Would definitely recommend Joe's - delicious food, great atmosphere and right on the water! Perfect combination for a great dinner out!
A quiet Monday in Boston but really nicely busy with attentive waiting staff and good food
We enjoyed the new menu tremendously everything we ordered was fresh tasty with great presentation we also love the fresh hot bread that still offered . The bread pudding dessert was also excellent enough to share for even four people . our waitress Aniea was very friendly attentive and gave us plenty of time to decide we will definitely be back
Always busy, especially if you want to sit outside. The food is consistently good across the many locations, which is a bonus.
Nice location, excellent food and very good service. Strange experience with ordered wine: $48 for bottle of cabernet in menu but $60 on bill - was corrected by manager manually
I really enjoyed the food. I had the New York strip. Very good and flatbread for appetizer. My boyfriend had surf and turf( lobster and filet mignon). Our waitress was Elizabeth who was a lovely girl and hard worker. We stopped earlier in the day for a beer and sat outside. Everyone was very friendly especially Allie our waitress.
Sehr lecker. Leider sehr laut.
Well prepared food served by very friendly staff...a pleasant experience
the food was so amazing, but the service was so so so slow!!
I have been coming here for years. My visit on 09/13 was a terrible disappointment. We had a 2:30pm reservation and stopped by at 10am to try and change it to 11am (the doors were open & unlocked). the hostess very rudely looked up from her phone and told me they weren't open yet. Fine, can overlook that. We come back around 11:30am, get seated at a dirty table, were brought dirty plates and then we sat there while at least 4 servers walked around in slow motion for nearly 5 full minutes. We get some attention, get seated at a different table - this was also dirty, along with the plates and the cutlery. the manager was very nice, came over, apologized, sent out a "free" appetizer. We got the crab cakes and when delivered to the table they were cold. I got french onion soup, which is my favorite and Joe's is my favorite place in the city to get it but this time it was way over salted. My friend got clam chowder, it was very thick with cream but had two tiny pieces of minced clam. We split the reuben, it came out nicely plated, but the potato wedges were cold and dry like they were freezer burnt. A very unfortunate experience at a place I otherwise love. Sadly, this has been the case the last two times I have visited. I believe in the third strike rule and am rooting for Joe's, but realistically there are a lot of other places that come with better service, better food and no attitude or dirty tables.
I was totally disappointed with the food. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad and it was horrible. The salad was drowning in dressing and not the Cobb salad I know Joe was famous for years ago which came in a large Tortilla shell. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and he was only able to have two bites it was cold, hard and not appealing at all. Some had the fish dinners and were not crazy about it at all.
Oh and also the waitress put a basket with the bread which was hard as a rock, really!!!!!
So sorry to say I would not recommend your establishment. Very, very disappointing.
Good simple food in an outstanding location at very reasonable prices
Ok. Service was slow.
honored reservation time, roasted mussels interesting and different-would get again. , catch of the day fresh. (swordfish in our case) tables close and crowded but did go on labor day weekend. on the waterfront which I always like but most tables inside w/o view.
Went with 2 friends. Waitress was busy, took a long time to get order. Hamburger ordered medium rare was very well done. My cod sandwich was overdone, corned beef hash was a puddle of grease. The sweet potato, fries hash and hamburger had strangely the same weird aftertaste. We all think it was bad cooking oil.
Won’ go again
My family was in Boston for the long weekend and had dinner here Saturday night. The service was quick and the food was AMAZING! So much so that we ate at the other location on Newbury Street for lunch the next day.
The location is perfect and the food and service are exceptional.
This place was absolutely terrible. When we arrived they did not have our outdoor reservations. They told us we had to wait in line for outdoor seating. After we refused they sat us in the corner of the restaurant at a tiny table. We requested to be moved, we were then rudely sat inside by a window. Once our food arrived it was cold, I sent it back it came back colder than before. Our waitress was no where to be found. We asked to talk to the manager where she told us to calm down. I will never go here again and will continue to tell my friends and family about the awful service. The waitstaff was great, both managers I spoke to were rude and not accommodating. Never again.
Love the location. Had excellent quinoa salad and blackened shrimp!!
Great! Everything great!
Fast friendly service! We had a large group and our server was friendly and super efficient!
Loved our meal and the view outside. Best bread ever-
