Joe's American Bar and Grill - Waterfront
Book your next event with us
Great spot to hit when visiting from out of town! Next time we visit we will be coming back!
We have dined a bunch of times at the Joe’s on Newbury Street. This was our first time at their Waterfront location. We were impressed with the ambiance, friendly and attentive service and our overall experience. We also found this location to be a bit quieter than the Newbury Street location.
Our waiter served us very well without hovering. Our mains of the pan roasted salmon and the Cure burger were properly prepared (burger nice and rare as requested) and nicely complimented by a Sam Adams draft Boston Lager and draft Brick Red.
All in all a nice evening dining experience.
Amazing location, tasty food, nice and professional staff!
me and my fiance actually ended up going here last minute for valentines day and it was such a positive experience. grateful we were able to get a table! Beautiful skyline and water front views, fast service, delicious apps and dinner! loved the ahi tuna tartar! great steak tips & sides. and their bread is so delicious as well. Will definitely come back!
Decent food and decent service from our server but Joes was to dimly lit and to loud for my liking. Also the seats were wet from being cleaned but not dried !!
Great location, fun cocktail list, good eats. Also, if you have small children, they offer a great kid-friendly menu.
The food is great, and it was very helpful that they had gluten free options for the one of us that has celiac. The service was just OK.
Our table for 10 was ready early, service was very attentive and friendly, everyone was happy with their meals (omnivore, vegetarian, and GF friends). Good drinks too. Loved being on the water!
Pretty Good food, but service was slow- I think partly because our waitress was also the bartender even though we were sitting in the dining area. I think it would be a good expertise in warmer weather to sit outside!
American Joe’s is fun to watch a sports game at but the food is very mediocre. The chili was cold and there were bits of bone it it. The chowder had a lot of sand. The salads were okay but very overpriced. Overall the meal just wasn’t that great for the price. In hindsight, we probably should’ve just gotten the burger and fries which they never get wrong.
As a local, I should have known better. This place continues to employ front of house staff that simply does not care and doesn’t even seem to be trained properly. The volume of tourist “one and done” business allows this place to perpetuate abhorrent standards of service, overpriced garbage food, and somehow still remain open. Sail loft is 40 feet away. Go there instead.
We have a dirty fork, glass, and plate at our table. Hair in our food and service was bad. The waitress was so sweet and tried her best - likely not her fault. But it was overall poor which was disappointing.
We went to Joe's on New Year's Day for brunch. Menu options were fantastic, and included full lunch menu. We sat at a high top at a window overlooking the harbor - very nice, and fun to watch boats. Only gripe is that service was a bit slow with every order and even getting and paying the check. The restaurant was not at full capacity so not sure why it took 10-15 minutes for coffee, 10-15 minutes for the check, etc. Maybe the waiter was hungover from New Year's festivities ;) Wait time on food was fine. I would recommend this restaurant either way. It's a classic. Sad it left Providence!
We felt rushed the whole time. Main course arrived just after starters. Supposed to be nice NYE dinner but they just wanted rid of us. Shame as food very tasty. Preferred sitting outside in the cold waiting for fireworks than staying there. Very disappointing
Went for dinner before the fireworks on NYE. Perfect view. Great experience
Let me just say for starters, Joe's American Bar and Grill is ALWAYS a good idea folks! I've dined at several of thier locations and the food / service is consistently of a high quality
Great service eventhough it was Nee Year's Eve!! Perfect view!! Just loved it.. variable menu for both foods and drinks, perfect place to take good pictures. The steak trips were just amazing!
Having made the reservation 4 weeks ahead I expected a table that was not at the front door. The table was dirty when we were seated. Kevin (our server) was great & no complaints in the dinners we ordered.
The ribs were awful. They advertise is it “slowly cooked for 10 hours” but were not even close to being fall-off the bone.
Service was sub-par as well.
Does not live up to its location.
Overall great experience. The person who brought out our soup and meals was so enthusiastic and made our experience that much better.
Food was really good! Tuna tartare and the tuna salad were really food
Great service and experience
Great wait staff! Friendly and attentive. Everyone’s food was very good but the baked haddock was a little dry.
We celebrated my daughter's 16th Birthday and had a blast! The hostess and waitstaff were very nice to her and everyone else at the table
Joe’s serves some of the best clam chowder in Boston. Our server was so nice and friendly, and she easily answered any questions about the menu and offered recommendations when we could not decide. Service from the kitchen was quick and all entrees were delicious. The menu offers something for everyone. We’ll definitely return.
Great prime rib
Service was phenomenal. The nachos were delicious and BLT was enormous.
Absolutely terrific Thanksgiving dinner for seven of us. Prices/value excellent. Ambiance and service as good as can be.
Great service. The food was really good and arrived quickly. A great place to spend Thanksgiving!
Great service, great value, great food. I came in on Thanksgiving and had a delightful experience. Everyone was friendly. The food was to Thanksgiving perfection. The Back Bay Sangria is absolutely perfect and I recommend it to everyone.
Joe’s is located on great spot in the waterfront. The inside decor is traditional Boston, with mahogany tables. The food was only OK, decent but not worth a return visit. I think this place is better for a burger and beer as opposed to a meal. I would go back in the summer when they have waterfront dining outside.
Was very good. Excellent lobster roll and crab cake tater tots! Pretty views right on the water. Attentive service.
I’ve been to several of these restaurants in different cities in NE.
Can’t beat the chowder. Also anything you can pick off the menu will be very good.
Never a bad meal or service for that matter.
Consistent and reliable.
Nice location, but the restaurant was very chaotic the day we were there. The service was good and the food was decent, but I think I was served a Virgin Mary instead of a Bloody Mary :-)
Great place ,clean and service awesome, surely will recommend this place too others n already started wit friend n family
Thinking of going back with the family ...surely thinking this week to take my company workers there this place is truly great and the view to die for had a blast
Great location and food. We were a party of 12 and service was terrific.
The whole experience was great!! We love their salads!! Please don’t go away!!
Coffee was good. Waiter seemed a bit distracted for a nearly empty restaurant. Guests seemed to enjoy their omelets and French toast. I was stumped, though, by the notion of serving an omelet in a piping hot, mini cast iron skillet, where eggs arrived hard and just kept cooking in the pan. This is basic stuff. Lift your game, Joe’s.
Location was convenient. View was nice. Given both, the place should have been packed on a Saturday late morning. Maybe not everyone likes eggs that bounce. C’mon people... It’s brunch, not rocket science.
Nice view. Bloody Mary’s were like drinking tomato juice. Food was not good. We were starving so we ate it. Service was slow, took a while to get beer that was ordered. Def not a place we’d come back to.
Horrible service. Never going back.
