Food wasn’t great. Fish tacos didn’t taste fresh
The burger made my boyfriend sick, salad was very overdressed, overpriced. I liked the spinach artichoke dip though and the service was fine. I won't go back though.
The setting was great for a graduation dinner. There definitely seemed to be something very wrong with the service staff! The drinks took a very real long time for the waiter to get from the bar. The drinks came but then it took a very long time for us to be able to place our order for appetizers and then the same for drinks. The calamari, artichoke dip an bread were delicious. I ordered chicken piccata which was bland. We made sure to place a special chocolate layer cake dessert for a surprise with a candle. After a long time the waiter put down a white piece of cake that was awful. My daughter didn’t want us to say anything at that point and her boyfriend made the plan with the restaurant manager so this was particularly disappointing to me. We wanted coffee, etc but it wasn’t worth asking because we were so frustrated! There was a glass of wine that spilled during dinner and the waiter did replace it at no charge. We also were not charged for the slice of cake! For a meal that was over $200 I don’t want to leave feeling disappointed!
We had a lovely experience although we had to wait 25 minutes after reservation time to be seated. Would definitely go back.
Joes food still as great as ever. Sat down to eat at 6:00 for a 5:30 reservation but considering it was graduation weekend it was all good. Our table had a fabulous view of the waterfront! Food was great, especially the calamari! Please tell me what you put in the sauce that accompanies it. Hope to get back there soon.
This place is awesome for groups. The service was wonderful, so was the food and for 15 people, the price was right. I would highly recommend and will definitely consider Joe's the next time I have a large group. Loved it!
We really like it there. Fun place on the water with good food!
We had a reservation for 6 pm and were not seated until 7 after checking in three times with the hostess and each time being told we were 20’minutes, then 10 minutes, then 20 minutes away from being seating. When I complained a fourth time, were seated promptly after reminding the host that we had a reservation. What is the point of a reservation if you are are an hour behind schedule. Terrible organization. Will not go back again.
Great location, friendly service and delicious food!
Great location and nice ambiance. The food is always very good and the wait staff area on top of their game.
The lobby can get crowded when it gets busy and he wait staff have to wind their way through the people waiting and around the bar to get into the dining room. There has t be a better way to avoid the traffic jam and the food service having to go through the waiting crowd
My family has been going to Joe's for 20+ years, and I'm so sad to say I'm no longer a fan. My son and I went for dinner early Saturday night. We had a reservation, and were shoe-horned into a table where we couldn't move our chairs back and the tables near us were so loud we couldn't have a normal conversation. Half the restaurant was reserved for a tour group. Our food and drink portions were smaller than usual, but still expensive, and the food quality was meh. The fish tacos were great, the salmon and the burger both disappointing. My son had the burger, and he left hungry since it was pretty small. I'm disappointed. The only saving grace was the waiter and the rest of the wait staff, they were hustling and friendly.
Reserved a high top to ensure a good water view. None were available. We lucked out and got a regular table by the window overlooking the marina. Waitress was the best part of the experience, a pleasant young lady who checked in with us at just the right times.
Other than that, the drinks were so-so, the apps okay (some of the calamari was a bit rubbery), and the rest of the food was nothing special at all. The other servers who dropped off the food couldn’t have been less interested - more or less dropping the plates on the table, not even asking who had what.
I’d been to another Joe’s in Boston earlier in the month with a large group, and wrote off the last luster experience to the size of the group. I now know it’s just the way things are there, and won’t be returning again.
Food is ok. Nice location. Good service.
Always a favorite spot! View can’t be beat and terrific seafood fare!
Food came before the drinks?
Our server was outstanding! She was a delight to talk to!
Good place to bring family or business. A little pricey for what we ordered, but the food was good.
Location is great but food was just ok.
Cod sandwich was difficult to eat.
A great last stop before heading west. Always enjoy the fish tacos and clams.
Excellent food and ambiance - perfect for a friends' lunch! Riley was a great server - super accommodating and flexible for our table needs.
Had a great time! The patio isn't always open so you can't sit on the water if it's still cold outside (this was during the spring). However, they have a row of tables next to the windows, so we got to look over the water during sunset anyways! It was loud, but not so loud that we couldn't have conversations. A bit on the pricy side for American food, but nothing tasted bad. All just on the better end of average.
Of 4 of us all but one enjoyed the food--the fish and chips were a bit overdone. The music was too loud. Otherwise we had a lovely time and will go back again. Also the service was really wonderful!
First off, this place is beautiful. Right on the water with great views on 2 sides, and the interior decor is classy and rich. However, the service leaves much to be desired and the food is just OK for the price. We made a reservation for brunch on a Sunday, and our party of 8 was promptly seated. The restaurant was empty, and although our server greeted us shortly after we were seated, her visits were few and far between, and become more so as the place filled up. Two of our orders came out wrong (my fiance ordered 3 eggs and got 2, I ordered sweet potato fries and got potato wedges) and when I asked the server for ketchup, she said OK but never came back. My food (the Sunshine Burger) was delicious, but others in our party weren't impressed with theirs. I was considering this restaurant for a post-wedding brunch, but after experiencing the subpar service, I'm going to pass.
Always a good meal. The Ultimate BLT was HUGE (and very delicious). My only complaint was that our mimosas were super pulpy and definitely more OJ than champagne.
Selected location because Open Table indicated “private parking”. That was not the case; had to pay for parking (would have ubered). Chicken on two of my family’s meals was over cooked and chewy. A lot of better places to eat in the area.
Rainy Sunday brunch; very nice. Bad weather kept the crowds down. The restaurant was quiet and uncrowded. Without the usual crush of tourists, it was kinda nice. :)
good food, quick service, nice place to view the harbor
Great experience as always! Server was attentive without being overbearing. Food was delicious.
Wonderful food and great location. Arrived on a slow day for lunch and service was horrible. Hostess never greeted us or took our names. Walked passed us several times at the front desk as she assisted the large party in front of us with chairs and combined tables. Another waitress came over and seated us. This was our waitress and the nightmare continued. She was rude in taking our orders, very abrupt and seemed to care less. We asked a few times for refills on drinks which was ignored. Also drinks had no straws in them which we asked for several times and she said yes but proceeded to sit another table and enter orders in the computer. We had to go to the bar to get straws. As I said earlier, nobody was in the restaurant and food took almost 1 hr. From sit down to delivery of lunch entree. She ever asked if we needed anything, how was the good, etc... anytime we would call her over and ask for anything she would just nod her head and then come to our table and just drop it in the middle of the table and leave. Food was good but I will not be back due to the horrible customer service from the 2 staff that we interacted with.
The perfect location right next to shops. Nice atmosphere and really good food. Reasonable. For portions.
Had to send chowder back, was ice cold. Steak was rare, yet asked for medium. Service was decent but restaurant was empty.
Joe's is a staple for my friends who come to visit me from London. The food is excellent. The bread is a must have. And the ambiance on the water is really nice. Definitely check it out.
Food was good, wait staff was good and drinks were good. It's right on the water and close to Quincy Market, the Improv Asylum.
My favorite restaurant - ever! So delicious! Always consistent on very good food and service! Great for a date night or out for a family dinner.
Went for late early dinner before the Bruins game. They had The Botanist gin...my favorite!! Great selection of food and the waitress was exceptional! Wonderful view...too bad it was raining that night.
For a quiet night, service was slow and kept forgetting things.
Food is delicious. The view is great!
This was our primarily favored restaurant in Boston and we always liked to be in Joe's place. But, we were shocked when we see the plate we ordered at last time in New Year Evening dining at 10.00 pm. The plates was not elaborated and not delicious. Anyway, if it was not a special day meal we would go out of restaurant without eating the meals on the table.
Onion soup and tuna tartare were great. Prime Rib bad no good and very expensive.
Service was average tending to bad.
The restaurant was not very busy with many tables open and my wife and I had to wait a very long time for our waitress to arrive. Also, when she did arrive she was not very personable or apologetic when she brought my wife a broken/cracked glass. When asked to replace it the response we received was “thats the second one today” and a new beverage was brought out very much later.
