Joe's American Bar and Grill - Boston Ratings and Reviews
Everything we wanted and more for a celebratory New Year’s Brunch. Great atmosphere. Outstanding staff made up of professionals who are friendly, courteous, and clearly well-trained. Food presentation was picture worthy as well as delicious. I even got a free dessert because it was my birthday over a week ago!!! I definitely highly recommend Back Bay Restaurant Group restaurants. Never a disappointment. 😊🥂
Service was ok - We were there on NYE for dinner and there was absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant / bar. I had the steak for main meal and was able to eat as the chargrilled taste was like something that some one had painted onto it - fries also tasted off. I was really unwell during the night afterwards
We were happy to be there on NYE... lots of fun energy in the restaurant, we ordered a variety of dishes (party of 6) Every one was very satisfied with their meal. The swordfish was cooked to perfection, the macaroni and cheese was flavorful with out being greasy. Chicken picatta was delicious and not too salty like some places. Our server was spot on .. just the right amount of attention. We will be back for sure !!
We love Joe’s! The atmosphere is always good- especially at a high top table in the bar.
Always good drinks-
Kids enjoy the fish and chips! And of course the delicious and fresh bread.
The nachos are the most expensive nachos we have ever bought- $17 with chili on it. Crazy- feeds more than 4- but for chips and cheese not the best value.
My husband and I shared a grilled chicken sandwich- pretty sure it was about 3 oz total of chicken breast on the sandwich- skimpiest sandwich ever- and we weren’t looking for a lot!
Everything was very tasty- just the value is not great for the items we selected .
Lots on the menu - and a good variety.
I have had the deviled eggs on a previous visit and they are awesome! Should have ordered them this time too!
Impressed with Joe's! I had mistakenly put 2 people in my Open Table reservation when we were actually 6... The host and servers didn't mind at all and found us a quiet table in the back near the kitchen, which was great for our party that included two children. The server was attentive but not overbearing and listened to the kids' stories about seeing Disney on Ice! He even led them toward the kitchen to see the action there. The food was great (and consistent with our visits to other Joe's restaurants). I would have liked a more extensive craft beer selection, but otherwise, we were very happy with our experience!
We all enjoyed our Christmas Day lunch. The meals were delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. I did feel that there could have been more of an effort to play Christmas music to create more of a Christmassy atmosphere. There were decorations etc but music would have definitely added to the experience.
Had 48 hours with my husband in Boston over the festive period. We were really pleased to find this venue open on Christmas Day. The venue itself has a lovely ambiance. The service was exemplary and the staff were really attentive. The food selection was very good, giving both my husband and myself plenty of choice. The portion sizes were perfect for us and the food tasted absolutely superb. We also enjoyed the festive cider cocktail alongside our meal.
We could not fault our dining experience here and the next time we are in Boston, will most certainly dine here again.
We used to go to Joe's when they were on Dartmouth/Newbury corner and loved it so were slightly wary of what it would be like in 'new' location. Obviously things have changed but we still enjoyed our meal. The only negative we would say was that the burger buns were toasted but not warm. The burgers themselves were delicious. We sat downstairs which turned out to be a good idea as the street level restaurant section was VERY noisy and conversation would have been difficult.
We came fór breakfast on sunday morning, the menu is very small, we decided to start with good coffee and ordered cappuccino and the coffee was terrible. We then decided to have mimosa but the time was only 9 o clock so that was not available. The eggs and bacon was decent
5 friends for a birthday. Stuck in a corner downstairs, a booth for 4 and a chair stuck on the end. Not enough room on table. No water brought to table, no fresh cutlery for entree. Two sandwiches, bread and chicken cold on both. Service very inexperienced and poor standard. Disappointing.
