Joe's American Bar and Grill - Boston
Book your next event with us
After a disappointing night at a restaurant only one street away from Newberry, Joe's put that experience behind me.
Nothing extravagant, but just good execution on a diverse menu of American faire.
This is a great place to catch-up with friends. The Baja Fish tacos were great.
Our server was the worst part of our experience, although two of the entrees we received were overcooked as well. Server was hard to find even though it wasn’t actually that busy and we had to remind him about 4 different items that had not been delivered to our table during the meal. I mean, does it really take 30 minutes to get a lemonade to a thirsty 6 year old? My lady’s Fisherman’s platter was well over cooked and the mussels tray we got were half burnt. We aren’t ones to send food back so we sucked it up, especially since we had the littles who were already starving. Overall I would not visit again.
Always a perfect treat to eat at Joes
Love the bread and the steak is fabulous!
I tried the special, baked scrod. It was good, but a very small piece for the price they charged.
Reliably good food in casual surroundings, punctuated by children screaming. Service is generally above average.
Really enjoyed our meal, especially the clam chowder. We got exactly what we expected. It will become a regular when I’m in Boston.
Lights over our table were out and our table was in a corner that was very cold by the entrance. Forgot our appetizer.
I had scheduled a team brunch for my employees. Everyone enjoyed the food and had a great time. Our server was nice and pleasant but being that he was also tending to the bar, he tended to our table slowly. I ordered steak and eggs and my steak was raw. Not rare, raw. By the time, I was able to tell server, everyone else had already finished eating. A couple of people could have used refills. All in all this could have been a 5 star review. I give it a 4 as our server should have been more attentive but her had other things ongoing on. He was nice otherwise.
The fish (fish & chips) was like rubber and impossible to chew.
Nice place good food and service
Brunch was great !
It was an excellent experience
They handled a brunch party of 12 as if we were two, just wish our table was a bit bigger it was a table for 10.
Great service in an awesome location in the Back Bay! Great bar seating.
Their food is always delish
I may recommend Joe's for drinks as the ambiance was nice.
Server was outstanding. Was very accommodating. Everything was prepared as requested and the salad was fresh and included some excellent croutons. My only mistake was forgetting to request the gravy on the side. The guys at the bar nearby were entertaining with their conversation about sports. It was a great evening overall.
Joe’s is a great place to meet up with friends or family for any occasion. The restaurant is really clean, the staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious. The menu is not too expensive either and is well worth it. We went for my birthday and the staff did a great job of making us feel welcomed. The cocktails are great as well!
Waitress was horrendous , came by twice and we had to find her to pay and then she was rude
Waiter, Dan,at high tops was great. Treated us so respectfully Would come back because of him. Boston at Newberry St
Best staff and great food
Nice table sunlight was right in my husbands eyes with no way to lower shade since it was coming in sideways and no shade for that. Food was good as was service noise level was very loud difficult for conversation without yelling
Made reservations for New Years and had a marvelous dinner with GREAT cocktails and delicious food. Great location with a short stroll to Copley Sq. for fireworks at midnight.
We had a great waiter, service was wonderful and the buffalo chicken dip was the best!
We went to Joes for lunch on New Years Eve. We were a big group. They seated us on time. The food was delicious and our waiter was excellent (think his name was John). We ate at a bunch of places over the holiday and this was by far the best.
Prime rib was the greatest!!! Service was perfect and enjoyed the restaurant surroundings. A little expensive but location responsible for that factor.
Nice place, good food. Enjoyed with my wife and 2 little ones. Will look to go back when in Boston again.
Great location, menu and food. Waiter was a bit lacking.
Food was good but the service was incredibly slow
We had a lovely family dinner here. Channing our server treated us very well. We ate here twice and would go back again if we had not run out of time. Great place.
Joe's Bar & Grill on Newbury is our favorite! Always great food and service!
Went because it was local. Food was mediocre. Had the tuna appetizer, mussels and a BLT. Quite over rated. During lunch. Service was so-so. Took forever to bring is desert, so we canceled it.
I searched for a restaurant open Christmas Day in Boston.
Joes had the best menu selection and location. We enjoyed Shrimp Scampi, Crab Stuffed Sole and Salmon along with some delicious Calamari. Well done Joes.
Honestly, I was disappointed since I was familiar with the restaurant. I had called several times to confirm regular menu would be served on Christmas Day and was told there would also be a special menu. After the waiter had been to our table several times for drink orders and to inquire if we were ready to order, I had to ask about the special menu and he acted as if he had no idea and had to go ask...upon his return he had one copy of the special menu. We ordered from the regular menu and the food was somewhat disappointing....not the standard I was expecting since we’ve been to the restaurant before. From the hostess desk to the other wait staff we encountered, no one was friendly.....not even a thank you as we past by the hostess stand on our way out the door. Maybe the staff was not thrilled to be working Christmas Day but they could have been a little more enthusiastic considering it was a holiday
Food and service were very good, especially for a big day like Christmas. It was extremely loud and very
crowded but they were extremely accommodating to my handicapped friend and elderly mom.
Had an awful server who tried to syphon off part of the payment for himself. Had to take up the issue with the manager. Twice. Service was slow, inattentive, but the manager was great. Food was OK, on par for what one would expect. Very loud space with a lot of unruly children and uncaring parents.
Fabulous location for a large group birthday lunch!
The beer was very flat. My wife had a Bud Light draft and I had a Sam Adams draft. They were both very flat and not crisp tasting. We did something we nearly never do and sent the beers back to be replaced by bottled beer.
The food was good. Sam our server was terrific. I think draft beer is an essential part of a restaurant like this.
We had dinner there a week earlier and my friend had to send back his Guinness. Time to clean the lines
We had a group of 17!! Service and food were fantastic.. thank you Robbie!!!
