I'd never been the Theismanns in the 40 plus years I've lived in Northern Virginia. I enjoyed my food (Chimichurri Flank Steak) and felt the service was above average. Parking was easy with complimentary free parking in the underground garage...so all in all not bad and I will return.
We life going there, BUT since it was remodeled they tend to turn up the music very loud in the seating area. That may be ok in the bar area, but otherwise people go there to visit with each other not listen to music. They did turn it down when we asked, and the same a previous time.
Hi Barry, thank you for leaving us a review! We will make sure to pass along the information to the team and hope to see you again soon.
Kerry was a great server. Food excellent
Hi Brian, thank you for taking the time and leaving us a review! We will pass along the sentiments to the team and hope to see you again soon.
Have always enjoyed the brunch here. But went this past Sunday and learned there have been some changes. Most notably the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict featured the smallest crab cakes I’ve ever seen (accompanied by the largest muffins I have seen). It tasted good but it was lacking in quantity. This is a change from other times I have been there. The restaurant has also been recently remodeled- I personally preferred the wooden booths to the tables. Not sure this will remain a regular go-to brunch for me anymore.
Thank you for taking the time and leavings a review! We are sorry you had a less than stellar experience during you brunch visit. We will make sure to pass the information to the team and hope to see you again.
Great food and friendly service. We love the Ambiance and the Christmas decorations.
Thank you for the kind words! We hope to see you again soon.
Very good food. Hamburgers very tasty and menu with a wide variety.
Thank you for the kind words, Roger! We hope to see you again soon.
The family has been to Joe Theismann’s Restaurant on a number of times two of them being Thanksgiving with them. Unfortunately, this time we’re we’re seated in the extended part of the restaurant which had no quality of atmosphere whatsoever. Always, in the past we have been seated in the main restaurant area. And considering we made the reservation in September you would think we would’ve gotten sitting in a desirable location.
My entire family felt as though we were seated at the children’s table. Our waitress seemed totally overwhelmed and uneducated. She consistently forgot various items which we consistently requested. Stating, she’s having a bad brain day. Simple request like a cup of coffee seem to be a major ordeal and we were never granted that request.
The food and portions were well received, but considering the atmosphere that we were placed in and the service that we we received, it will be questionable whether or not this Thanksgiving tradition will continue.
Hi Gil, we appreciate you taking the time and leaving us a review! We are sorry we did not meet and then exceed your expectations during your time with us and will pass along the information to the team. We hope to see you again.
Came here for Thanksgiving dinner around 6pm. Had been here for lunch before and had a good experience. We made reservations although there seemed to be plenty of seating. Restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Several options for the three courses. We had the pork loin and trout. Both dishes were great. Staff were prompt and friendly. Overall was pleased with the experience. Would go back.
Hi Leslie, thank you for taking the time and leaving us a review! We are thrilled to know you had a wonderful time during your Thanksgiving visit and look forward to having you again.
Food was obviously prepared in advance. Not horrible but not great. Convenient location wise but don’t try to park in lot before 5pm.... no parking validation and you will pay a $15 parking charge.
Hi Sammy, thank you for taking the time and leaving us review! We will pass along the information to the team.
Ambiance , service, and food offerings on Thanksgiving were minimal. Similar to last year. In years prior to last year it was a crowded but excellent experience with both special and regular menus available . Need to improve cocktail offerings or decrease the prices.
Hi Rodney, we appreciate you taking the time and leaving us a review! We look forward to hosting you again soon.
I have eaten at this restaurant many times but first Thanksgiving. Food, and service has always been impeccable. Remains consistent.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We hope to see you again soon.
Thanksgiving!!
We hoped to you gobbled til you wobbled!
We’ve always love JT’s! We’ve come here for Thanksgiving several years. This year they put tables in by the windows instead of the cozy booths, and unfortunately the food was sub-par. In the past it was wonderfully simple & traditional. This year the appetizer choice was horrible. We went with the crab vs the spinach dip. But they were spicy & overly fried. Had to ask for rolls—but they were not delicious like before. The stuffing was a new recipe—why change? We want exactly what we would make at home, but served with no cleanup or leftovers. I don’t need pumpkin seeds on my whipped cream either! Please go back to being the old JT! You were perfect (and had more customers)!
Hi, we are thankful to have loyal customers who leave us comments like these as we take them very seriously! We will make sure to pass the information along to the team and hope to see you again soon.
Food was great. Service...not so much.
Thank you for the review! We will make sure to pass the information along to the team and we hope to see you again soon.
Came in from Detroit for the weekend. We saw the restaurant on Google, looked at the menu and thought it would be decent for the four of us (including my vegetarian wife). We weren't disappointed! We would, for sure, go back!
Hi Chuck, thank you for taking the time and leaving us the kind words! We are thrilled you had a wonderful time with during your trip and enjoyed our dishes. We look forward to seeing you again.
Food always quality. As long time pateons, we are not crazy about the new look inside from the decor to the new men's restroom. And a few long standing favorites like lasagna Chicago pork chops, and Joe's balsamic dressing were removed from the menu. Bummer!
We've been coming here for a number of years and like the new renovations. If you could only find a spot to post the football picks. It took me 10 weeks to figure out they are behind the bar.
The steaks were great! Joe Theismann actually showed up and stopped by our table to say hello.
Great experience!
Food and service was very good. Nice atmosphere. Bonus we got to meet Joe himself and take pics. He was very nice. They say he comes once or twice a month to hang out and do this. We got lucky.
Solid food, solid service ...... nothing fancy, but always dependable ...... burgers and sandwiches are very good, but my favorite is the fish ‘n chips ..... great beer selection ..... good place for a relaxed weekend brunch ....... excellent atmosphere, especially for customers who have fond memories of the Redskins’ long-ago glory days.
Noise level was unbelievable when entering on a Sunday night. Anywhere around bar or tables in 2/3's of the space would be impossible to talk. We knew to ask for a table in the 1/3 of restaurant fairly closed off from bar and other area of restaurant - sometimes this space is reserved for groups. If not available, bring ear plugs.
Great service, menu and ambiance despite a loud noise level. Will definitely head to Theismann’s again!
Service was great. I had the philly flatbread. Very good. My only complaint was the seating was very tight. I’m not a big person. I wish the tables were a little further apart (around the bar area). I was there solo and everyone around me was with someone.
My wife and I have eaten at and enjoyed Theisman’s many times, however our last visit indicated that the restaurant is undergoing distress. Two of our favorite entrees, lamb and ahi tuna, have disappeared from the menu leaving just more traditional proteins. Our “up” martinis were served in small cocktail glasses with an apology that the bar had run out of martini glasses. One was also missing the standard olives. We ordered the” house” Merlot, but the waitress returned to tell us that the bar had no more. Nevertheless the food and drink we did have was good.
Like the new renovations. Service was very good. Four of us had the Crab Benedict which was excellent. One person had the blueberry waffle with scrambled eggs. I had a “virgin” Mary that was spicy and just right. Two had mimosas which was served in a plain juice glass. Disappointed that it wasn’t served in a fluted glass. Overall, our experience was great and we will all return.
Our party of 4 arrived on a busy Saturday a few minutes before our reservation time. The host team was scrambling to seat a table of 35 so we waited a few minutes for our table. Not a big deal. We were seated in a back room near another very large party - 20 or so people. We sat for over 10 minutes and the server - running in and out to service the large party - never once came by to say hello or offer water and bread, or even make eye contact. We were fully ignored. At the 10 minute mark we got up and left - no one noticed or asked us anything. Probably an anomaly as we’ve dined here before but disappointing for sure.
They have once again changed the menu to remove the best items. Unwilling to accommodate basic requests.
We went to watch the Nats game, hoping there'd be noise and TVs and we were not disappointed. It was lively and crowded, and the meals were very good. Our server was wonderful.
The food and service was great. It was a bit dark and loud, so don’t plan on having a lot of conversation but the atmosphere was great and the games were all going on the TVs. I will definitely be back for that Southern Fried Chicken salad!
Food was good, just a bit expensive. Server was pretty bad but it seemed like other servers were better.
Great service
Amazing service, great food and music. Really relaxing!!!
I had the NY Strip steak salad and the steak was so tough it was inedible. In the end they comped my meal but I had to ask for it and talk to the manager.
The food was good, but the service was AMAZING. First, they sat us in front of the Nats game, and they didn’t mind our request to move a table over since there were soooooo many people watching the game it made us feel awkward- this worked out because the next guests who sat there seemed to be so excited to be that close to the game. Patrick definitely knows his food and made several great suggestions. My husband and I are definitely foodies and were absolutely pleased with his suggestions of using the bread rolls with the crab dip, the Short Rib entree and the Louisiana entree. We love Shortribs, so that was easy, but the Louisiana entree was divine- the chicken was moist, the rice and sauce were creamy- perfection 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. We skipped on dessert because we were so full, but definitely stopping by again to try the apple crumble.
Comfortable atmosphere. Great hamburger and food overall very good and reasonable prices.
Excellent food and service !! We had burgers all around but the steak dinner at the next table looked incredible !!!
Food was okay. Service was okay. Nothing was extra ordinary
Food is always extremely good; the wait staff always does a great job and are friendly/professional however our waitress had way too many tables to cover. The decibel level, following the renovation, is very high. All-in-all, this is one of our ‘go to’ places.
A great spot to watch a game; newly renovated sleek bar; easy to make lively conversation if you're in the mood. Service was excellent. Food was well prepared, typical of a casual bar/restaurant. The calamari was crispy as written and the right amount of chew. The Butcher's Burger was tasty; sides of creamed spinach which was a little thin, and garlic mashed potatoes which were lacking in a little zip, were okay. Wednesday's half-price wine bottle program on an excellent selection of very good bottles was a bonus.
Food was great.
waiter was also tending bar
He was good when he paid attention.
Service was slow.
It was very very noisy.
