Great happy hour!!
We really enjoyed our evening,,,,it was a perfect location, our waiter was beyond helpful!! I wish I could remember his name. Had an outstanding version of a Manhattan, I should have gotten the recipe, if anyone can help and email it to me would really appreciate it,
Chicken and Meatloaf dishes arrived cold. Chicken was very dry and meatloaf was too salty. Won’t be back.
The only reason I rated the food a 4 was the crab dip appetizer had very little crab and weird color (gray), and just not flavorful. Around here, people expect great crab dishes or leave them off the menu. All other dishes were wonderful.
They ran out of the wine we had after we ordered 2 glasses. They tried to steer us to another but we wanted the Winter Hill. I've seen other restaurants send someone to a store when an item is gone - it is great customer service.
Waitstaff was excellent.
The service was terrible. I could never find my waitress. Braised short ribs with a baked potato. It was hard and had no butter. I asked for butter. It took 1/2 hour to get it. The butter was hard as a rock (frozen), potato was cold -- They did give me another baked potato, but who wanted it at this point. The braised ribs were good. We then ordered a brownie sundae. Again brownie was hard as a rock. I threw a piece and it bounced off the plate. They removed it from my bill. I told them they should take it off the menu until they get fresh brownie. I was given 2 $20 gift certificates, but I am not sure I even want to use them.
Joe Theismann's isone of my favorite restaurants. I really enjoy their Friday night special (the cowboy rib eye). While the steak is a little pricey at $45.00, I've never been disappointed.
Fantastic food and service!! I will definitely be recommending this place to anyone who is visiting the D.C. area!
Good restaurant and the filet was great but the shrimp scampi was not very good...it had no real taste and the shrimp were tiny. Service was excellent and the drink menu prices were reasonable.
6 top was seated promptly even though place was very busy. Nice bar with experienced bartenders got all our drunk orders right. We shared two apps then each had an entree. Food was great service was excellent. They have nightly specials ( daughter had the spaghetti with meatball special) which was very good
We will go back when in town
The food was okay, I wouldn't consider it being off the top. It was a bit pricey for what I got. Otherwise, the ambience was very good and everything was lively
The overall experience was good (above average). My salad with fried chicken was very fresh and tasty, but the crab dip was mushy. I was disappointed with some of the menu changes, namely the removal of the Lollipop Lamb chops, duck rolls, and the brunch Omelette, as well as the Pink Cadillac cocktail. I was pleased at the manager’s offer to have an omelette prepared for me and the opportunity to receive an extended lunch menu during brunch, as well as inquiry about our concerns with the new menu.
Had a great brunch here. Service was prompt and attentive. Brunch and lunch food (yes, we had both) was awesome. Highly recommend the mimosa flights!
Nice restaurant with ample seating away from your neighbor. Service was ok but the persons who actually served the food was not sure where the meals went.
Restaurant was taken over by a restaurant group that killed the menu, removing most of the best items and dramatically changing others for the worse. Have gone from regular customers to rarely and only when convenient. Business has clearly dipped but will come back if you unbreak the menu.
I was a little disappointed. The service was ok - the waitress was a little too opinionated. The deviled eggs and martini were excellent. The crab cakes were ok.
We were seated 1/2 hr. after our reservation, with apologies from the hostesses. The server gave a greeting and returned shortly. The food was very good, but our entrees were served before my husband's soup. Our server apologized; the food runner brought it, then the server comped it for the mistake. There was a lively crowd that night, with the 3 children sitting at a nearby table the quietest of all.
We were seated very quickly but the seat in the booth was old (fabric was torn). There were a lot of people but not overly crowded for a Saturday night. Our waitress was friendly and food was pretty good. I had the salmon and it was cooked correctly but I only got 4 tiny pieces of broccoli. My husband got the special (prime rib) and there was quite a bit of fat, but the sauces were tasty. Overall good experience and close to home and the metro, so we will be back.
Waited for service 15 minutes after seated. Did not acknowledge our presence after food was served. Waiter disappeared, our bill was brought by completely different server. Explained to manager that the whole section of the restaurant was experiencing the same.
We had to send some food back and others simply kept their food because they didn’t have time to wait for the food to be cooked again. The price was high for the quality of food we received. I do not see us choosing this restaurant again anytime soon.
Genuinely friendly staff and great service. They have an updated menu with enough choices to satisfy anyone. Comfortable seating options at the bar, table, high top or booths. Great food unpretentious atmosphere.
We are frequent diners here and are always satisfied with the food. However, The last few times that we have eaten here we have noticed that the food is extremely salty. Yesterday, the nachos, salad dressing, tomato soup were all extremely salty. Perhaps , the chef could leave the extra salting to the diner.
We have been here several times in the past. Unfortunately, this time was not as enjoyable. our reservations was for 12:30PM on Saturday. First, parking was a real problem. My husband drove around for 15 minutes looking for a space. The garage where there is usually parking available was closed. There is construction in the area and street parking was impossible. There were four of us. I really enjoyed the bowl of crab and corn chowder. My husband was disappointed with the Tuna Poke bowl. It was more salad than there was tuna poke. He wished he had ordered something different. The other couple had waffles and the crab cake entree. They both enjoyed their meals. So, we will probably come back again but not until they finish the construction to the metro and maybe pick a different day and time.
Visited for our son’s early 21st birthday. Victor was our sever and he was on point! Everything was timed perfectly and his menu suggestions and knowledge was most appreciated!
We would also like to give a special shout-out to Ruth, the server assistant. She always remembers us and always has a kind word!
Thanks so very much!
I chose to take my family to Joe Theismanns for our first night out in Old Town Alexandria. We had never been there before and my son loves the Redskins so Theismanns seemed to fit my family of all boys.
It was so hot in the restaurant that we were all uncomfortable and when we got our food my youngest was disappointed with his steak it was not easy to cut. We are not sure if it was the knife or cut of ribeye. He eats ribeyes quite a bit. My other son had the crab cakes and they were so small he needed a few more(not for the price though) The frosted mugs were not frosted they were chilled wet!!! Our waitress said they do not come any other way than the way she brought them to us.
We ate as fast as we could so we could get out of the heat.
We got the fish and chips and the fish tacos. The tilapia was cooked to perfection. Just a really good restaurant
Great neighborhood restaurant, Food was great. The noise level was way up with the crowd that came in when I was there-great for business; but, not for conversation. Otherwise, always good-great food.
Service was great. Food was great. They were out of my Scotch but life’s full of little disappointments. Overall a great experience!
Birthday dinner. Very loud hard to even hear across the table. Food was good after they got it fixed. Decided to take the piece of cake home (to go). Got home and found it was not what we ordered
Thiesmans needs a face lift. Material on seating is worn.
My daughters birthday
This was a solid option for brunch with my (rather picky) nieces and nephew. Lots of options with a bunch of solid standards to satisfy everyone. Our waiter was super friendly and did a decent job. The food was fine and did the trick; it's just nothing amazing overall. I'd be back here with my picky eaters, but not sure I'd see a reason to be back here for any other reason.
We came for brunch and stayed for a few hours. Service was fantastic and the mimosas were a great deal, our server kept them coming. We will be back!
Crab cakes never fail at Theismans! Service was also excellent. A very enjoyable evening. Wish the noise level was a bit lower though.
Very pleasant. Attentive wait staff, good food.
First the restaurant is in a great location in Alexandria - just outside of the train station. The seating at the restaurant is varied - outside under an building overhang, inside at the bar, 4 person booth, 2 or 8 person tables, and larger seating areas. The service and staff are great - helping with food choices and making sure you are happy with your meals and drinks. Speaking of drinks - the Mississippi Martini is the best!
A fun place that is casual yet nice at the same time. A good variety in terms of menu. Comfort foods with an original touch. Sports on the monitors if you are interested. Convenient to King St Metro. I will definitely be going back when I am in the area.
We had the fillet, grownup grilled cheese, and strip steak. Prices were excellent, especially for the area, which is otherwise expensive. Quality was exceptional, the fillet and strip were so tender and flavorful that they neared Wagyu quality. Staff was attentive but not in your face always interrupting seeming to time things when there were pauses in our conversation. Sides were spot on flavorful and portions were right for a satisfying meal. In short, worth a visit and return visits are planned!
Thiesmann's has changed their menu. Ten of the people who I work with were very happy with the old menu, but don't like the new menu. Because of the menu change, 10 customers have been lost.
