Joe Theismann's Restaurant
Great food!!
Outstanding ambience, service & food on a special ( & crowded) night. Congratulations to all the staff which made the night go flawlessly. Thanks
We enjoyed Valentines Day dinner as well as my fiancé’s birthday dinner here. It was excellent we went two nights in a row!
Outstanding and personable
service
We really enjoyed it's
Food is very good. Good place to stop and have drinks and appetizers. We enjoy visiting on special occasions.
Always nice to return to JTs. Food is consistently done well and matched by excellent service.
Fun relaxed atmosphere
Great. The only complaint is the seats were ripped and needed repair. We sat in a booth.
Great food for herbivores and carnivores alike. Cheers like atmosphere. Eddie takes great care of his diners.
Our favorites have been taken off of the menu: lamp chops; scallops; halibut; green salad with feta; and other appetizers.
Menu selection is limited.
We have been going to Theismann’s for over 30 years. Disappointing the menu has changed. Service and location is great!
Met some old friends for dinner. Not a huge menu, but what is on there is really good. Also have a few healthier and gluten-free options.
Hostess had a bad attitude about seating me as a solo... Otherwise, I’ve had great experiences there.
Great place to have a nice dinner while watching the Super Bowl or any other sporting event! The service here is top-notch.
Change of menu was not appreciated, my wife wanted blacked salmon and we found it was no longer offered
Food was great. Service was slow. We had to ask for bread when the entree was delivered.
Joe Theismann's Restaurant is my go to spot near old town.
Good food, nice variety and great drinks
I am always pleased with Theismann's -it is my first "go to" when in Alexandria.
First time there and I was pleasantly surprised and how well-run it was. Great food great service great atmosphere.
Great service and food. I always like to come here for my birthday since they have a wonderful BOGO deal.
Have been going here for years. The new menu took away all the favorites like lasagna, chicken parmigiana, buffalo chicken sandwich, ahi tuna, and more and the prices jumped up. It took 4 asks to get a soda and our food took 45 minutes.
It was probably an off day for the kitchen staff
Service was good . Went during restaurant week had lunch portion was nice. Salmon was cooked to perfection
Each time I have been here the service and food has always been great. Will continue to come.
Getting a little well worn. Needs a facelift for 2019
Celebrated my Father’s 70th Birthday with my Mother. The food and drinks were wonderful and the service made it a memorable event.
Vibrant atmosphere but not noisy; excellent menu and food.
Very loud, even in the dining room past the bar. Entrees came right after the salad/ soup, we had them taken back to keep warm. The pasta with chicken was poor - over cooked pasta and very thick, heavy sauce. The salmon entree was good. We had enjoyed previous visits at Theismans, but not this time.
We are disappointed that our favorites have been removed from the menu. As an additional complaint is the removal of all reasonably priced side salads. We loved the greens and feta salad, but we would be happy for any decent side salad option under $10 that isn’t a Caesar. Our only option now is to order a big salad and split it and they are not as good even then.
My dining partner’s salmon was good, but it was not up the the standard of the previous salmon entree. My tuna salad was lacking flavor, so if we decide to return I will still be searching for something both healthy and tasty on the new menu.
We used to go about once a week, we may come back occasionally going forward to see if things have improved.
My first experience was very disappointing. The server seemed annoyed every time she was at our table and barely spoke. My scallops were over seasoned(very salty) but my mother in laws scallops were not seasoned at all (no sauce at all) and were bland. We ordered the chocolate lava cake and it tasty but warm at best. We will not be going back.
I have been going to Theismann's for over 25 years and have found the food and the services to be consistently good. With its location across from the Metro Station, it is a great meeting place for both commuters and tourist.
The food was very good, for the most part. The crab cake sliders were the best! My filet mignon was tender and cooked correctly. My date's salmon wasn't bad, but a little too dry. Prices were very good.
This was my second time at this restaurant and it was just ok. Food was not appealing and lacked flavor.
Shout out to Theismann's for their amazing gluten-free protocol for our family. 4 out of the 5 of us have celiac and they went above and beyond to make sure the order was placed correctly and kept separate from other food during preparation and serving. Substitutions were easy and everyone enjoyed their meals.
We have always loved Theismann's. The food recently doesn't seem to be quite as good as in the past but we do love the atmosphere and staff are always great.
Serena, the server, provided outstanding service! She was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu.
Food was excellent. Price was appropriate. The waitress was excellent. She took care of our every need, brought the food out quickly, and everything was correct. We needed special access for a person with a walker and the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Thanks for a great evening.
We went Christmas day the food was excellent as always BUT the waiter we had was extremely slow
and kept forgetting our drinks and refills. But I like Joe's restaurant it just truly depends on who you get
as a waiter or waitress. Just my opinion but that part could be better.
Food service was off. Salad-Soup was at table about 3 minutes and main course was served. No time to enjoy!
This was one of the few places that was open on Christmas Day. My husband and I had dined here before a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We were a group of four and we were shown to the table right away which was in a the back and more quiet area of the restaurant. The server came to the table quickly and let us know they were short staffed at the moment but we were in no hurry. He was still very attentive and got our drinks and took our order in a timely manner. Our appetizers, drinks and entrees arrived in order and all together. The food was delicious. We had the crab cake sliders and shriacha deviled eggs for appetizers. We ordered french onion soup, lobster bisque, rueben sandwich, fish tacos and two side salads. All the food was very good and we got plenty of food. We also enjoyed a couple of the specialty cocktails (it was Christmas afterall!) Definitely a gem and might be our new Christmas tradition!
Always happy with everything at Theismans. Our waiter Drew was phenomenal. All of the staff/crew were great.
