Really nice ambience and good food. I had the pesto pasta with chicken and spinach and it was delicious. The flatbread pizza was more ordinary. We were just passing through but if we lived near DC, we'd eat here again.

Came as a class trip. The staff was incredibly helpful in meeting ALL of the needs of our group & or last minute addition to an already huge order. Such a nice opportunity for our students & families.

We had a Sunday brunch scheduled for a table of 8. Five of our guests did not show up at the last minute. The staff was completely understanding about it. After reporting our situation to the server, we were moved to a smaller table (a booth). We were grateful to the staff for being so nice about our situation. I look forward to going to this restaurant again.

The best thing I can say is the food was adequate. I'm not really sure why the reviews are so good. I'll start with price and the fact I paid $3 for a kids apple juice which wasn't included in her $6 pasta kids meal that barely had any sauce and was somehow overcooked. Next, my eldest daughter's lasagna that looked as though it was just layers of noodles and beef with little to no cheese. My wife's salad was ok looking but she wasn't even offered any dressing options; it came with ranch which tasted like it was out of a kraft bottle. I had the bison bbq burger which was tasty but fell apart because of all of the bbq sauce being directly on top of the bottom bun. We started with the pretzels loaves, they were good but the beer cheese was so runny, it didn't stick to the pretzels at all. The waitress never checked on us throughout the meal so I ran out if water. I would NOT recommend this place.

The food was good, but not great. The ambiance was nice, and the noise level allowed us to visit during our dining experience. The service was good, but not extraordinary. We ate at this restaurant twice during our 4-1/2 day stay, so it was a "go to" place for our dining. We appreciate you being there!

We made a reservation and arrived a few minutes before the time and were told our table was being cleaned and we had to wait but we could see 6 empty tables so presumed it was a power play on the part of the hostess. Had to wait a full 5 minutes for a waitress and probably would have waited longer if we hadn’t asked another waiter to find her. Then a full 5 minutes for a drink, longer than that for bread. Didn’t get a water refill until my meal was finished etc etc. we could see other customers getting better service and the first time we went we got good service. But it was a disappointing birthday dinner. Food was good!

Our favorite local restaurant. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere. Food well prepared and presented. Great fish and chips and the Cab Salad. Good, and well priced house wines and craft beer. Would recommend it to everyone.

We stayed nearby and made reservations in advance based on TAs reviews. The house red wine was excellent! The side salad with our meals was very good, dessert fantastic, but the real surprise was the low cost for everything!! Very affordable so, we came back again!
Crab cake is unbelievable. Wow!
Thanks for everything, will be back.

We stayed in Alexandria while visiting DC. I made reservations via Open Table ahead of time based on reviews, but mostly location. The restaurant was very close to our hotel and I knew we would be tired from a day of sight seeing. Well, we were tired. And hungry. Joe Thiesmann's was excellent. So excellent, that we came back the very next day (I really needed another greens and feta side salad!). The service was wonderful & staff were professional yet down to earth. The food was wonderful.

Despite being extremely crowded and rather vibrant, our reservation paid off--we were seated right away in a booth as far from the madding crowd as was possible without being in the private room in back. Even so, it was very loud--to be expected, given its good reputation and the fact that it was Happy Hour. All three courses of our meal were excellent in terms of presentation, taste and timing. Service was a bit off, but not necessarily dismissive. The price was about what we expected. That said, for a quieter visit, we'll plan to dine before of after Happy kicks in in full force. Recommended nonetheless.

I hadn’t been to Joe Theismann’s in awhile but it was tasty as I remembered. Delicious butternut squash soup was followed by an excellent Asian chicken salad with mandarin orange slices, toasted pecans, Chinese noodles and 3 varieties of lettuce. A bargain lunch at $20.

My wife took me as a surprise for my birthday. We had a great time and the food and service were excellent. The only disappointment was when my wife made the reservation they offered a free desert, but the restaurant did not provide that during our meal. Other than that we had a great time. Difficult time find a place to park. Clean friendly environment.

I have had many horrible experiences at this restaurant, which have been discussed with management, but no improvements. The food is always served cold, and this food is very expensive. I will not return again.

This is an under-rated property because it's been around for over 30 years. However, the service is always spot-on; the meals are prepared quickly and the area has a good vibe.

Not gourmet dining, but it is still better than the chain restaurants at about the same price point.

Our server, Ciara, was fantastic! She knew the right times to come to the table. Our dishes were very tasty. I had the scallops and they were delicious. For once, we ate at a restaurant and didn’t have to talk over music and loud people. Most importantly, we arrived 45 minutes earlier than our reservation and they were able to accommodate us then.
