Joe Theismann's Restaurant
Have been going here for years. The new menu took away all the favorites like lasagna, chicken parmigiana, buffalo chicken sandwich, ahi tuna, and more and the prices jumped up. It took 4 asks to get a soda and our food took 45 minutes.
Service was good . Went during restaurant week had lunch portion was nice. Salmon was cooked to perfection
Each time I have been here the service and food has always been great. Will continue to come.
Getting a little well worn. Needs a facelift for 2019
Celebrated my Father’s 70th Birthday with my Mother. The food and drinks were wonderful and the service made it a memorable event.
Vibrant atmosphere but not noisy; excellent menu and food.
Very loud, even in the dining room past the bar. Entrees came right after the salad/ soup, we had them taken back to keep warm. The pasta with chicken was poor - over cooked pasta and very thick, heavy sauce. The salmon entree was good. We had enjoyed previous visits at Theismans, but not this time.
My first experience was very disappointing. The server seemed annoyed every time she was at our table and barely spoke. My scallops were over seasoned(very salty) but my mother in laws scallops were not seasoned at all (no sauce at all) and were bland. We ordered the chocolate lava cake and it tasty but warm at best. We will not be going back.
I have been going to Theismann's for over 25 years and have found the food and the services to be consistently good. With its location across from the Metro Station, it is a great meeting place for both commuters and tourist.
The food was very good, for the most part. The crab cake sliders were the best! My filet mignon was tender and cooked correctly. My date's salmon wasn't bad, but a little too dry. Prices were very good.
This was my second time at this restaurant and it was just ok. Food was not appealing and lacked flavor.
Shout out to Theismann's for their amazing gluten-free protocol for our family. 4 out of the 5 of us have celiac and they went above and beyond to make sure the order was placed correctly and kept separate from other food during preparation and serving. Substitutions were easy and everyone enjoyed their meals.
We have always loved Theismann's. The food recently doesn't seem to be quite as good as in the past but we do love the atmosphere and staff are always great.
Serena, the server, provided outstanding service! She was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu.
Food was excellent. Price was appropriate. The waitress was excellent. She took care of our every need, brought the food out quickly, and everything was correct. We needed special access for a person with a walker and the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Thanks for a great evening.
We went Christmas day the food was excellent as always BUT the waiter we had was extremely slow
and kept forgetting our drinks and refills. But I like Joe's restaurant it just truly depends on who you get
as a waiter or waitress. Just my opinion but that part could be better.
Food service was off. Salad-Soup was at table about 3 minutes and main course was served. No time to enjoy!
This was one of the few places that was open on Christmas Day. My husband and I had dined here before a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We were a group of four and we were shown to the table right away which was in a the back and more quiet area of the restaurant. The server came to the table quickly and let us know they were short staffed at the moment but we were in no hurry. He was still very attentive and got our drinks and took our order in a timely manner. Our appetizers, drinks and entrees arrived in order and all together. The food was delicious. We had the crab cake sliders and shriacha deviled eggs for appetizers. We ordered french onion soup, lobster bisque, rueben sandwich, fish tacos and two side salads. All the food was very good and we got plenty of food. We also enjoyed a couple of the specialty cocktails (it was Christmas afterall!) Definitely a gem and might be our new Christmas tradition!
Always happy with everything at Theismans. Our waiter Drew was phenomenal. All of the staff/crew were great.
Everything was great - EXCEPT the service was the worst I’ve ever had there!
Salma was awesome! She guided us through the new menu items and we enjoyed a few of the new appetizers!
Our entrees were then perfect, as always!
Please thank her for us!
Consistently good food, lively but not over the top atmosphere and great waitstaff. A “go to” when family is on town or for Happy Hour or a casual, “medium” place for dinner in Old Town.
Good food, well priced and very nice staff. I sent a special request with my reservation and they actually read it and accommodated!
Had a wonderful server and great dining experience. Ribeye was delicious as well as Joe's Favorite Pasta. And don't forget the Pink Cadillac to drink!
Burgers are always good at Theismann's. The restaurant is not really in good repair. There were seats that need upholstering and tables need refinishing. One of the ceiling lights kept flickering. I was surprised the atmosphere was in this condition, because this has always been one of my favorite places to dine. Also, the hostess seemed too busy to address us and paid little attention to our arrival at 3:30 pm for late lunch. Definitely not a great experience, and it was a very rainy day, so it was good to be inside. Reflecting on our visit, I must say it fell short.
Had reservations but took a while to get a table. The manager apologized and comped an appetizer. Personally, I didn’t feel it was necessary, but it showed that he cared.
The waiter was supper busy and took only as much time as needed to take the order and keep our drinks filled.
The food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Georgia peanut wings and the pork chop was what I expected.
I think the noise was because the place was full of Holliday parties and everyone was enjoying themselves.
I would go back for the wings and a beer.
We have busted Theismann’s many times in the past. This was our first visit back in along time. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our waiter was pleasant and professional. The only negative was the slowness with the bar in getting drinks.plan to return
Best steak I have in a very long time!!! Waitress was very quick and pleasant
Great food! Great service! Loved the specials, loved the crowd! I will be back!
Excellent service, environment and menu. Will be visiting again for a special occasion.
The food was great! My guest was not a frequent diner and thoroughly enjoyed her meal! Soup of the day was excellent, salads and entrees didn’t disappoint.
Everything was perfect. Our waitress not only listened to our dietary concerns, but made the ideal choices.
Well done Joe!
The food and service was really great and using Open Table for our reservation was awesome.
I eat at Theisman's regularly and I bring family, friends and co-workers there when a group wants to gather. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The meal and drink choices are wonderful and varied. The noise level is a bit much for quite conversation but it is an ideal neighborhood hangout and a great place to catch 'the big game.'
The location is really great, too. Metro right across the street and decent parking (by Alexandria standards!).
Great food great service.
Bill was an excellent server! Wish all my service experiences were as good as him. While they did not have the Crab cake, (what is the best menu item in my opinion!) the Tuna was good also.
Service was great. We sat in one of the back rooms, which was nice and quiet. Duck rolls, calamari, ahi tuna were all very tasty. The main course meals were all brought out together, nice and hot. The steaks were done just right. My Spirale & Chicken was great, and the crab cakes were very good too! Peanut butter pie, molten lava cake, and cheesecake for dessert were all very good!
Our waiter Was excellent!
My wife and I love JTs! This was our second time here and everything was great. This was a belated birthday dinner and I'm still talking about it to friends. We will be back.
