Joe Muer Seafood - Detroit Ratings and Reviews
We had the crab-stuffed flounder and the Dover sole. Both tasted great. The sole in particular was very expertly prepared, de-boned perfectly at table-side. Since it was our anniversary dinner, we also had the lava cake and the New York cheesecake. They were both wonderful. Wonderful views from our table of freighters cutting through the ice in the river. We had a great experience in all. We'd definitely recommend Joe Muer for a fantastic night out.
Joe Muer Seafood in Detroit never disappoints. Was introduced to the original Joe Muer Seafood restaurant on Gratiot Ave. at E. Vernor in 1975. Being seated riverside only improves the experience! Amazing seafood and the at-your-table service exceeds expectations! (The latter from Sa'īd ("Sa-eed") this last visit!)
Checking in at the hostess counter was our only downer (It would be great to replace the numerous young people who appear behind this first stop for clientele with the type of very courteous, formal maitre d' I recall from visits at the original who made a great first impression--you knew you were someplace special.)
Perch, salmon, you can't go wrong w/the seafood here. You may want to ask the kitchen restrain from the copious amount of mashed potatoes. Desserts to die for. Enjoy!
My expectations are always exceeded when I dine at Joe Muer's in Detroit. I took friends there to celebrate the holiday on three different occasions. Each time, the service, ambiance and food were 5 star!!! This is my go-to place when I want to experience dining at its finest!
The food and service was phenomenal! Joe, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable. Timing was good. We weren't rushed, and didn't have to wait long, either.
The troubles came after dinner. Their free shuttle left us at the FoxTheatre. I have a medical condition where I have to go to the bathroom frequently, so after the show I HAD to go. When we got out side, no shuttle. I called the driver, and she said no, there's only one trip. We were NOT made aware of this!!
We had to take a cab back to the restaurant. Then, we paid for parking at the machine. The next day my credit card was blocked after a fraudulent charge was flagged. The last place I used it was the kiosk.
So dinner was fabulous! Everything else, not so great.
We were greeted immediately
The ambiance was exceptional especially the view
The pianist played but unable to really hear from the back of room
Our waiter Scott was great. Very informative and attentive. Great wine selection
The view of the port and water was nice, creating a great date/bday celebration with my hubby
The manager was great too.
We didn’t dress as sophisticated as the other guests, nevertheless, we weren’t treated any less special
Keith our waiter was exceptional and took very good care of us. He was knowledgable and really cared that our dining experience was important. Made request when I booked for a table with a view and they came through. Overall, food was great, price point was fair and staff were exceptional. Will certainly return. Thank you
WOW!! What a beautiful place to have a nice quiet dinner with fantastic food and wonderful service!! Diablo Tiger Shrimp, my favorite dish there. Oyster Rockefeller is great! Truffle Pomme Frites, delicious. Carrot Cake to die for!! And you must try The Black Orchid Martini.
Waldin our server was not very attentive. He did not go over the the menu, chef of the day options with us. He did not even tell us his name when asking us "what do we like to eat." That night was a very special night. I propose to my girlfriend that night. The co owner save the night by apologzing sincerely for Waldin behavior. He also gave us a bottle of champagne for the night
