Joe Muer Seafood - Detroit Ratings and Reviews
We were greeted immediately
The ambiance was exceptional especially the view
The pianist played but unable to really hear from the back of room
Our waiter Scott was great. Very informative and attentive. Great wine selection
The view of the port and water was nice, creating a great date/bday celebration with my hubby
The manager was great too.
We didn’t dress as sophisticated as the other guests, nevertheless, we weren’t treated any less special
Keith our waiter was exceptional and took very good care of us. He was knowledgable and really cared that our dining experience was important. Made request when I booked for a table with a view and they came through. Overall, food was great, price point was fair and staff were exceptional. Will certainly return. Thank you
WOW!! What a beautiful place to have a nice quiet dinner with fantastic food and wonderful service!! Diablo Tiger Shrimp, my favorite dish there. Oyster Rockefeller is great! Truffle Pomme Frites, delicious. Carrot Cake to die for!! And you must try The Black Orchid Martini.
Waldin our server was not very attentive. He did not go over the the menu, chef of the day options with us. He did not even tell us his name when asking us "what do we like to eat." That night was a very special night. I propose to my girlfriend that night. The co owner save the night by apologzing sincerely for Waldin behavior. He also gave us a bottle of champagne for the night
Glen was our server for the evening and we appreciated the service he provided. He even gave us a recommendation on which hotel he thought we could get great benefits from! We took the advice and had an amazing time! Thank you for your excellent service Glen, we will be back again to you again!
We have dinned here many times, this specific visit, was excellent as always...food was fantastic, service was outstanding, our waiter Zayd (hope i spelled it correctly) was very attentive, answered every question we had with regards to the items on the menu. Our drinks never went dry and the food was arrived in a timely manner. Cant wait to return.
WE HAD TWO SERVERS, THE GAL WAS VERY ATTENTIVE, THE GUY KIND OF DISAPPEARED EARLY ON.
THERE WAS A LUMP OF SOMETHING WEIRD CRUMBLY/GRAINY TEXTURE IN ONE OF MY OYSTERS ROCKFELLER. I SPIT IT OUT AND ASKED OUR SERVER TO FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS AND WAS TOLD, WHEN ASKED THAT MAYBE IT WAS "THE BEGINNINGS OF A PEARL." FOR THE PROBLEM, I WAS OFFERED A FREE DESSERT OF CHOICE WHICH I TOOK HOME.
I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE STONE CRABS WERE NOT AS LARGE AS I EXPECTED AT $25 EACH AND WITHOUT THE MUSTARD SAUCE THEY REALLY DIDN'T HAVE THAT MUCH TASTE. IF THEY AREN'T GREAT AT JOE MUERS, I CAN'T IMAGINE ORDERING THEM ANYWHERE ELSE OUTSIDE OF FLORIDA.
The restaurant has a nice view of Canada but it doesn’t make up for the bad food and poor service. We ate disappointing mussels and their new fish with crab meat stuffing which tasted stale. I had a few bites and stopped eating and had to wait ten minutes to beg for lemons to try to make it edible. It still wasn’t.
Food was very good--Tempura asparagus appetizer and my trout were both define. My friends short ribs were great. Bread was great. My salad was fine--nothing special (but that trout was). Ambiance issue, though (which I brought to the attention of the manager and he did apologize, but I'm not sure they understood how bad it was). We we excited to get a table by the window, but it also near a wait stand/server/buss area--RIGHT behind me. Banging around the whole meal. It was packed, so I dealt with it, but it was so distracting (and there is a way to be more quiet about it). I think they were just unaware. I hope they improve that. At those prices, I don't expect my nerves to be be frayed by that noise.
Walking into the restaurant there was a warm welcome feel. The service was great and were very attentive to our questions and even offered advice. The appetizers we had were fantastic. My wife was in heaven with her entree and the fact that they even cracked her crab legs for her. As for my main dish i had the braised ribs and this was the only unfortunate part of the food.... my ribs were a bit too charred and were overly dry. I was even recommended to try these from a friend. I just feel that it was just a minor blip as i do not see it usually like this ....
I will definitely be going back in the future. I should have said something about my ribs but i do not like to complain.
Being it was our anniversary my wife had ordered a dessert and they even took it upon themselves to add a special touch to it without us ever requesting it... very nice touch.
We had a family girls night out to go see the wizard of oz at the fox . We decided to eat dinner first at joe muers . The server was Great he recommended the shuttle for us to take to the fox and we did and we're glad we did . The view is amazing of the river and the place was decorated beautiful for the holidays . The issue we had was with the food it was just mediocre for the price . We're not big complainers so we did not complain to the server but I ordered the steak medium well it came probably just medium and was very pink inside I ate the outside of it but could not eat the middle . I ordered the scallop potatoes on the side and they were still very hard . My mother ordered The lobster tail with potatoes The potatoes were lukewarm/cold and had no taste and the lobster was not cooked right kind of soggy . My sister got the salmon and she like that she said it was good and the appetizer we got was good also the calamari. My niece has a allergy to dairy and gluten and they worked with us well on that . Overall the food was nothing special there was no "WOW" like you would expect . I feel like we could've went to a regular steakhouse and enjoyed the food better !
We went to Joe Muer Seafood Detroit after the Nutcracker Ballet at the Detroit Opera House and to celebrate a Birthday. The restaurant and view is spectacular! Our waiter was very professional and pleasant. The food was excellent, but many of the meals you have to order your sides a la carte, so it can get pricey. The waiter acknowledged us celebrating a birthday, but they didn't do anything special. The discount the valet parking, but it was very confusing and inconvenient. They provide a sticker to lower to valet cost, then you have to go to a machine out in the foyer of the Ren Cen Building to scan it and it wasn't working. Otherwise, a great place for a special occasion.
