1st time going to this restaurant, simply amazing, we loved everything about it, food was fabulous and the service was even better, can't wait to go back...
Best steak I've ever had! I highly recommend the Fillet with Zip sauce and Bearnaise.
Sit at the the Bar ask for Mervin! Friendly and fast and might give you a few fishing tips.
The only issue my wife and friends and I had was with Christine at the front counter when we entered. She wasn't personable and had attitude towards us. If I was to return and she was there to greet me, immediately leaving is the first option.
The food was great and the service was impeccable.
Always a fine dining experience. Attentive, well staffed and fantastic food.
This experience exceeded my expectations. I have heard that this is a Detroit legend and now I know that it is true. The do a wonderful job of presentation, preparation and assuring customer satisfaction. The waiter Adam was most attentive to our needs and did not hesitate to address every question and concern we presented. He even went so far as to offer information and suggestions that we didn't anticipate or ask which in essence positively added to our experience.
The Calamari was greasy and the caper sauce was plated on bottom. Did not taste good.
Excellent restaurant. Very good time. Excellent atmosphere. We had excellent seats overlooking the water and the food was great great service very good time highly recommended
Joe Muer’s is always top notch. Looking for a great high end place, this is it. Obviously best seafood in Detroit but don’t forget about their Chairman Reserves filet. The sushi, apps, soups & entrees were all perfect. Excellent martinis as well. I’ve been here about 30 times & never had a bad meal
As always the food was outstanding in presentation and flavor. The service although good but not as good as in past dining experiences here. My cocktail was brought promptly, but the Mrs’ soft drink did not come until asked for. When the entrees were brought out they were mixed up. Mine was given to my wife and my wife’s was given to me. The waitress did quickly changed them when she noticed the mistake. I also had to ask for the additional item to the dinner. Lastly when we asked for desert we were brought the bill instead.
All in all we will still come back because we look at these incidents as anomalies rather than the norm.
Food was amazing as always. Our server recommended an outstanding bottle of wine. I love how knowledgeable the waitstaff is and the attention to every detail of your meal. One personal note. Please dress appropriately for a restaurant of this caliber. Leave the torn jeans and jerseys in the closet.
Overall a wonderful dinner, never disappoints.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday and Joe Muer did not disappoint! Calvin was an outstanding server; and gave great suggestions - such a cool demeanor. The only complaint is that the atmosphere though inviting - was very loud (seated directly next to the piano).
My girlfriend and I had a mediocre dining experience. The tone was set when we walked into the restaurant...dressed appropriately with a confirmed reservation. Hostess was completely lacking in advising us when we would be seated and escorting us to our table. On the plus side, they did accommodate the requested waterfront/view table I had requested. The wait staff was accommodating in the way of not rushing us, well spoken and thought out recommendations for wine and food and answering the few questions that we had. Overall, for this experience, my girlfriend and I gave it an 8 out 10 largely based on experience with the seating and arrival.
Every dish was delicious. Shrimp & grits and crab balls for starters, strip loin and halibut for mains. Didn’t have time for dessert because we were catching the free shuttle to the Fisher Theatre to see Hamilton.
Craig, our server, was personable, but not fully informed about valet parking validation. This misinformation cause a lot of unnecessary walking back and forth between the hostess, the valet machine, and the valet office at the Marriott once we returned from the Fisher. No one could give us a straight answer. It didn’t take long to figure out, but the point of using a valet service is to elimate the excess steps required to retrieve one’s car. It was a frustrating way to end an otherwise perfect evening.
Always like the Murer style but this is outstanding. We just were in Vegas and remark that our experience at Muers was better than any we had.
Manager, Staff, and Server CJ were the best!
While we have dined at the Bloomfield Joe Muer more recently, we had not been to the Detroit restaurant since it opened in 2011. Having been longtime fans of the original Joe Muer, we did not feel that the new version met the high standards we had come to expect. Fast forward to last Friday evening dinner prior to "Hamilton" at the Fisher: Every aspect of our dining experience was exemplary, including the shuttle to and from the theatre. We won't stay away so long and look forward to future dining at Joe Muer Detroit.
The fish is overpowered. I strongly suggest they lighten up the fish dishes, and if they use crab topping, make it lump crab.
Enjoyed the meal, service and ambiance; great views I might add. First time in Detroit, it was highly recommended and lived up to all the expectations. Ordered off the “specials” and they were just that. Halibut & Bass dishes were delicious. I don’t generally order dessert, but I made an exception and was pleased with my choice (NY Cheesecake) - was amazing! GH
Our waiter Wil was rude and condescending. Argued about what we wanted to order with food and wine. Our tuna came cold and when we complained he informed us that is the way it was supposed to be. I have had tuna many times and that is NOT the way it is supposed to be. They cooked it a little and it was much better. If you go there make sure you don’t get Wil
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, place is very nice. My wife was happy. Only thing I would change is that my wife and I would’ve gotten a smaller table with a better view of the river front. They sat just me and my wife in a booth for 6-8 people facing the bar and not the river I asked the hostess if she could move us to a smaller table but she didn’t think we should so we just dealt with it... it was my wife’s birthday food was excellent.
I asked the waiter to box my salmon and when I came home there was a red sauce in the box and no salmon. I’m not happy about that because of the money I spent to go there.
Great experience for us. The atmosphere, service and setting is top notch.
My husband and I have been going to Joes for quite sometime. You cannot go wrong with anything on there menu. Even there wine and drink list has an outstanding selection ! The view of Canada and our water front is simply stunning- especially at sunset.
At Joes they also have a pianist, his name is Les. He is an all-around gentleman. My husband and I always slow dance to his tunes after our dinner.
For any occasion Joes Muer’s is the place to go!
Food was good but not great. Had fish tacos as an entree. Mahi was dry, but slathered in guacamole and aioli. Place was dead. Hostess had a unwelcoming and unfriendly manner. Waiter was very nice and attentive. Oysters were good as were crab cakes. As a landmark we wanted to try it, but for us it will be a once in a lifetime visit. There are far more creative restaurants with better atmosphere appearing all over the city who would welcome our business.
I brought my bestfriend here for her birthday and it is now her favorite restaurant. She ordered the halibut chefs special on top of a king crab cake that was to die for! From the bread basket and white bean salad to the desserts and coffee, not to mention the window seat view of the river and Canada, this was a five star experience! Thank you to our waiter Wayne for the added touch of hospitality and eye candy! Truly top notch.
Food was impeccable and the service was great! Nice ambience on the river. Best seafood place in Michigan!
great seafood and fish, expensive, service very attentive, free shuttle
Love the food and the service.
Fabulous! Great for a special occasion. Food, service and the view are top notch.
Terrific food and service- could not have asked for more and the ambiance is wonderful. What could be better than beautiful view of the Detroit River while
