The food and service were wonderful! I would definitely go back.
Joe G's does not disappoint - food is consistenty delicious. Menu is simple yet covers all the bases. Will be back for sure!
The food and service is impeccable! Our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC!
What great service and food! If you want 5 star ambience in NYC, you’ll pay 5 times what we paid for amazing food in a smaller dining room. If you don’t mind a little smaller dinning area but want great food and great service, go here.
Awesome service! The waiter had awesome suggestions for us and took care of us well. Will be back!
Joe G's is like a family restaurant. The food was good The menu had some very interesting options. The price was reasonable. The service was very attentive.
There was a couple at the next table who were unreasonably demanding and the staff
did everything possible to meet their requests. The restaurant is convenient to
An early business dinner- food and service were excellent. Tony (our waiter) was first class and all was perfect for a great business dinner.
Second time dining at this restaurant and once again, it was fantastic! We had an early dinner at 4:30, and it was very quiet, which was nice. Servers very friendly and attentive. We will be back again as none of us have had a bad meal here.
Friendly & courteous service since my husband and I walked in the front door. Imaginative cuisine and comfort food exist side by side. We have been going here since my husband worked in the neighborhood and it is still our go to place whenever we have a show at Carnegie Hall or in the neighboring theaters.
Our server, Tony, made our meal truly special. The food was fantastic! We will be back again.
Food was very good and very reasonable.
Bartender Nicki was great...will return next time I'm in New York City.
I'd been to Joe G's a couple of times, but not recently. The prices are very reasonable and my entree (salmon da'vinci) was very good. Cozy, small, low key place for a comfortable dinner. The staff was fine, except that I felt a bit rushed, even though we were there fairly early on a Sunday evening. Overall, very pleased.
Heerlijk gegeten, aanrader!
We were treated like kings and queens! Wonderful restaurant!
We always eat at Joe G when in NY. The hostess knows us by name and always asks about our family. They are very accommodating and go out of their way to make our dining experience enjoyable. The food is always delicious. Homemade dishes. I always order veal parm and my husband orders eggplant parm. Joe G is probably my favorite restaurant of all time, NY or any other city.
Joe G serves food that rivals the most expensive restaurants in the city at reasonable prices. My sole almondine was exceptional, as were my friend's stuffed pork chop and primavera, and my husband's veal. The tourists who head for Patsy's down the block should detour to Joe's.
Very good food - authentic Italian. Highly recommended
All good. Food, service, atmosphere, friendly staff, value.
Great restaurant! We found this place last minute, will be back for sure!! Delicious food!
Great value for midtown NYC!
Entrees mostly in the low to mid $20s.
Exceptional muscles in a marinara sauce.
We both ordered off a $29.95 prix fixe menu.
My friend had a chicken dish with mushrooms and a brown sauce, which I wish I had ordered. She loved it.
My snapper filet was good, but not sensational and did have a few bones in it.
The tiramisu dessert was ordinary.
The one big flaw was that we both ordered specific beverages which were never delivered. We were not charged. Apparently, the waitress didn't write it down, or forgot.
Because of our schedule, our reservations were for 3:00pm Saturday. We were the only ones in the restaurant.
Overall, we were pleased and likely will return.
We were visiting NYC and looking for a casual Italian restaurant to dine in after seeing the early evening show at Radio City Music Hall. Joe G’s was within reasonable walking distance and had great recommendations out here at OpenTable and other places on the Internet. We felt we couldn’t go wrong by giving it a try. We made a great decision, that’s for sure. The food was very good and the service was EXCELLENT. We’ll definitely return to Joe G’s when we make our next trip to NYC.
Great little place. Good Italian food. Quiet and quaint. Great service. Not fancy but good, casual delicious food.
We are regular customers and always enjoy ourselves.
We've been going here for years. One of our favorite small local restaurants where they know your name and even remember what you like! If you like a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly service. Cozy and delicious, with no affectations.
very good food, very good service, accommodated a group of 12 people including kids, only down side there was no high chair available
When in NYC, we often dine here. Prices for the quality of food are more than reasonable given it is NYC.
While the food was very good, the service was very poor. This place does not provide a high chair or booster for children, and there is no advanced notice of this. When we arrived the PM before the NYC marathon with our group of 4 + a 2 yo, our waiter (tony) said this was going to be a "huge a problem", and also refused to take the order for the child first. All through the meal he was rude and condescending. I have a pretty long fuse for that sort of thing but this was too much and the only reason we didn't leave at the start was that there would be no way to find another place to eat on a Saturday pm the day before the marathon.
The only saving grace was the food overall was very good. So overall you may have a better experience if you don't get Tony as your waiter and you don't need a high chair.
Good food, AWFUL waiter. Not sure his name but an older gentleman with gray hair. Couldn't understand him and he wouldn't stop talking and let us enjoy our meal. He also had no understanding of any of the advertised specials the restaurant was promoting and overcharged us for our order. Worst service I have ever had.
Quiet restaurant with good food. Tony, our waiter, is a real professional. Recommend.
For years we've walked by this restaurant and never ventured down the steps. The other evening post reading some reviews on OpenTable we decided to take the plunge. WE WERE NO DISAPPOINTED! The food was truly delicious and a GREAT VALUE. Cocktails again were prepared perfectly. Our waiter was attentive and a seasoned pro. The room was quiet enough that we could actually have a conversation. So long story short - we've found another neighborhood option that I'm sure we'll frequent periodically. Glad the family is still running the joint! Thanks!
The food was mediocre. Not enough appetizers to choose from..bread seemed store bought. It was very hot in the restaurant.
Dined here on Sunday and while the food and service were very good, we were the only ones dining. Our reservation was for 5 o'clock and while that might be a tad early, when we left at 6:45 we were still the only people dining. Much too quiet. It's nice to hear other diners quiet conversation. So while we enjoyed the food and friendly service we would not go back.
The food and service are excellent. We ate here two times since the food was so good and reasonably priced. We have friends that live in NYC and told us about this place. Otherwise it might be easy to over-look finding this restaurant since it is below street level. The atmosphere is pleasant and a nice change from the noise and crowds of mid-town. The mushroom gnocchi is one of the best I have ever eaten.
Great Italian family restaurant with friendly service. Joe is always glad to spend time with his patrons and greets them with a big smile. try the antipasto platters for sharing. They come with a good variety of fresh ingredients and plenty of it.
The restaurant was nothing special the sauce for the pasta was bland. My son had the chicken sorrentina which he said I made it better. To top it of my son had some stomach issues that evening after the meal. Not on the top of my list for NYC.
Loved it. Great food and service. They were great with the kids.
Great food & excellent service!! Substitutions are no problem. Wait staff was very attentive. We were in NYC for a long weekend & I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Bait and switch. Awful waste of time and money. Had selected based on Open Table writeup but Menu prices were twice those on Open Table menu. Could have gone to a much better place.
Food less than mediocre. 200 degrees in dining room. had to sit in bar.
Surprised to find this gem in New York! The restaurant was easy to find, staff greeted us warmly. The service was fantastic and the meals we ordered were fabulous! Will recommend to everyone I know who goes into Manhattan.
We were glad to find this little tucked away place within walking distance from our Central Park hotel location. The pizza was excellent as well as the pasta, and it was not busy enough for our server to exchange some stories about Italy, as well as suggest a wine, and the other wait staff was very attentive. We ate in the dining area, but the bar (first as you enter from the sidewalk above), seemed like a nice quiet place to meet for drinks and conversation; it was not very crowded, so perhaps that is why it seemed so calm for a NY restaurant. Very relaxing and enjoyable meal.
