We are visiting from out of town and it was our first time at Joe Fortes. As soon as we walked in, our host sat us right away. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Food was very good. Overall we had a very good experience.
Everything was perfect except the prices were too high for us. I enjoyed the live music (piano) the most.
A Vancouver classic! Always busy but worth the wait. Seafood options galore and plenty of other dishes to satisfy. During the summer try to get a spot on the roof top patio.... great way to spend a sunny afternoon.
There were not enough gluten free options, was very disappointed that gluten free bread wasn’t even offered.
Farewell dinner for my aunt visiting from Malaysia. Actually, my brother didn’t like his steak (but he is super-finicky about his steaks) and I’m sure the staff saw the rest of the table finishing it for him (as well as his sides) but the waiter kindly comped his steak dinner, which was really beyond expectations. My husband and I plan to visit Joe Fortes again as we really liked our meals and want to try other things on the menu. Well, really for the fresh shucked oysters... thumbs up!
The food was pretty good. Server was very nice, only problem was he mixed up our left overs and gave us the wrong bags...
pricey but delicious
We attended a brunch for 10 people at 1pm. My husband and I ordered a tier of seafood which was very delicious and had a nice variety of choices. Our other company enjoyed the salmon cakes and Cobb salad. I plan to order these next time I go. The combination of people talking and the piano music was loud and made it difficult to enjoy easy talking for our group. The table was nicely set. My biggest concern was that our table was over by a wall. I was facing the wall and so the waiter had to constantly reach over me to fill glasses and remove dishes. It would have been more polite had the waiter asked if it was okay to remove things from our table or refill our glasses rather than simply reach in without notice, block our faces while having conversation or literally lean into me as he reached. Aside from the last issue which I really found difficult, I will return. It is a wonderful place to have lunch.
Requested the rooftop patio. When calling to confirm, asked that we get a booth if the patio was unavailable. Arrived to find that they’d seated our guests joining us for brunch at a table when a booth was free behind.
Great roof top patio and beantiful interior. Food is great.
As always, exceptional service! Not only I am impressed with food quality, but I was happy with our waiter. He was so natural and made us feel at ease !
Love the atmosphere. Food is average but service is good.
Always great. Sablefish was fantastic as was the fresh Red Truck on tap.
My sister recommended Joe Fortes to me as a birthday dinner option for myself and my boyfriend. She noted that the rooftop patio was romantic and an experience of its own. I️ looked up reviews online and noted tons of glowing experiences. I immediately made a reservation. The day of comes and my boyfriend unfortunately was feeling under the weather and was unable to join me. I️ contacted my best friend to fill the slot and although the evening started out as a disappointment from not having my boyfriend there, the atmosphere soon made me perk up. The food was delicious and totally distracted me from how I️ was feeling before our dinner started. The server was amazing and able to recommend the perfect wine for my friend and I️. She was knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly, personable. She made our visit that much better. I️ will be returning and I️ am so glad I️ had the experience I️ did. What a perfect way to spend my 22nd birthday dinner.
We were looking forward to this meal but we were all disappointed with the steaks. Had better elsewhere.
Had a great time, with the best possible service, as we gathered family and friends prior to heading to see Paul Simon's Farewell Tour concert.
Best seafood restaurant in Vancouver! We were fortunate to dine during spot prawn season - amazing and worth every penny. Our server was fabulous, portions are generous and vibe is great! A must if you are in the city!
This is a fantastic energetic happy hour experience! You must order a double Dekker seafood tower!
Particularly good seafood, especially the lobster/shrimp roll. Even New England couldn't beat it.
Excellent service and food it’s pricey but worth every penny 👍🏼
Everything was excellent, except that the swordfish was rather dry and chewy - a disappointment given its price (!) and that everything else, service, all other food, ambience were marvellous.
My mother was visiting from the states and this was the perfect restaurant to celebrate Mother’s Day! Our server, Dee was fantastic!
Good food and service. Noisy at dinner time.
Definitely get a reservation. Great service. Oyster Rockeferrer was yummy. Steam clams filled a large bucket. Filet Mignon was very tender and tasty. Highly recommend you go.
Excellent seafood and steaks. One of the best paces in town.
Good food and service. Enjoyed the sunshine on the rooftop patio.
Dinner was mediocre. Very small portions. My tenderloin was undercooked and cold. Sauce had hardened on top. No flavour to potatoes and they were cold. 3 scallops were not hot as I ordered a surf and turf. Prices don’t match quality. I don’t mind paying expensive prices but do expect fantastic food. Restaurant was very loud. First date and we couldnt hear each other. Had to ask for bill to be brought.
Our server was friendly but seemed distacted. We had ordered a bottle of wine and had to ask for it twice. The appetizer came out before the wine which was really odd. My husband had ordered prawns added to his meal and the server forgot to put the order in to the kitchen until he asked for them after his meal arrived. They brought them after. Later a manager came by and apologized and said they would be taken off the bill which was nice. The food was good (although the seafood linguini was drenched in sauce) but the service was definitely not what we expected for a higher priced restaurant.
Great food and service by Peter on the beautiful patio!
Very poor service. No quality check. Ill informed server re prices. Messed up a salad.
Best food we had on our 6 day trip Service was great and Fish and steaks were both great Eat in the main dining room for a quieter experience
Terrific on every level...
Very nice atmosphere BUT I wouldn’t recommend rooftop for a date unless you’re there to watch sports or happy hour. But overall the food was excellent and I’ve already recommended others to go for dinner
Best restaurant in Vancouver. Food and service are in perfect synergy.
we have always enjoyed our meals at Joe F but this Saturday was particularly busy, with big parties. The food and service was excellent, but we were seated by the entrance of the kitchen and there was very little room for our table and the servers to walk by; It felt cramped and noisy.
But ... we truly enjoyed ourselves and we will be back!
One of the best spots in Vancouver for a meal! Great service, excellent food, fun and upbeat ambiance.
Really enjoyed the meal. The food I had which was the trio of fish was nice but the cod part was cold. The pavlova was absolutely fantastic the best ever
We were celebrating a birthday while in Vancouver from the US over the weekend. The atmosphere is wonderful. Very convenient to downtown hotels and easy to walk. We had delicious food (a bit on the pricey side) but definitely worth it. Our server was terrific. Very professional, friendly and warm. Thanks for making the dinner special.
great service. great atmosphere. fabulous selection of seafood!
Always great service here, food is very good, but not the best in town. Medium noise level on the weekends with live piano.
