Great atmosphere, very tasty food, and great service. Very generous portions.
Would recommend this restaurant.
Great food and excellent service . Environment is fun
Expensive- 12.95 for a can of local craft brew that other restaurants sell for 7.95. Just greed. The seafood platter was average at best, the oysters we had were flat (can't think of any other way to describe them) Almost no substance to them. Limited variety. the clams and mussels, nothing special. So, the food is good, not great, the drinks over the top expensive, great atmosphere, great waiters, won't be coming back anytime soon.
Seating downstairs is a little loud. Service is very attentive. We ordered the Westcoast Seafood Platter for 2. Lobster, crab and scallops were wonderful. A single prawn each seemed odd. Oyster was overwhelmed by the sauce. And the mussels were a weak effort. Rice was a gluey ball. Still... the lobster, crab and scallops outweighed the weaknesses.
This is my wife and I first time dining here which was long overdue. I indicated in my booking that this our anniversary today and the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary and delicious creme brûlée. Very kind of them!
I had seafood pot pie got no taste all all. The clam chowder was not hot and too much potatoes.
Very friendly staff! The food was excellent! But the noise level took away from the experience.
Always phenomenal service, great food and drinks. Good for intimate parties of 2, to larger groups. But it's all about the service
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Excellent food. We are from out of town, but every time we visit Vancouver. We always make sure we stop in for dinner. One of my favorited for seafood.
The service and ambience was excellent. I wasn't a fan of the Ahi Tuna steak that I received, it tasted a bit bland and over cooked for something worth over $40. But the experience was excellent. Food can improve slightly.
Great service and friendly staff. Suggested Fish dishes were good
This place had a great atmosphere and the staff is excellent. This is my second tinge returning to this place and a huge disappointed and I would not return. I had the new York strip and my wife had the mac n cheese w/ fries. Mine was I ever cooked not juicy and tender like I remembered, the fries were truffle fries, that was my fault I should've ordered them plane I don't like truffle oil, but those were terrible. The appetizer was delicious, tiger prawns with cocktail sauce, so good. My wife didn't even eat half of her mac and cheese, the crumbs were burned making the whole dish taste burned and little to no flavor. All together I paid 150 for food I could have definitely made at home so much better for less then half the cost!
Joe Fortess is a perfect venue for everything. It's fantastic!
Exceptional service, big portions, food was excellent. First time there while visiting Vancouver, will be back again next time!
Our Server was particularly good. It made the visit a very memorable one. As well.. my food was excellent . Thanks.
just wanted to enjoy their brunch one more time, it has always been good. really like the parmesan fries, but the time between the fries and the main course was way too long. I get it that the appy is first, but 30 minutes between appy and food is too much. then when the food did arrive two of the four meals were cold and had to be redone. so clearly they were sitting around for a while. the food was very good when it did arrive and my rating is mostly based on overall history at Joe Fortes. still recommend this place.
Best seafood house in Vancouver.
Overall excellent dining experience! Nice touch with the creme brûlée birthday surprise! On the house !
Great food - great ambiance & service
A fun night out for family & friends for the Rugby 7s
My wife and I had been coming up from Seattle to Joe Fortes for many years for most of our special occasions. The first time we came was on a recommendation of a friend from Vancouver. The Dinner was about the best we had ever eaten (Petit Filet so tender it just melted in your mouth) so we planned on returning for future dinners. The next time we came again the dinner was beyond our already high expectations. This past Saturday, the dinner was very poor. The Petit Filet was Very firm and chewy (not Tough) and had little flavor, the vegetables and potato had no flavor as did the Mushrooms. This was a total disappointment so we have no future plan to return and will be looking for a new restaurant for our special occasions.
Our server was very attentive and made good recommendations. Food is excellent as always. I like being tucked away in a quieter corner but didn’t like the interruptions from other waiters having to come around to get bottles of wine.
I’ve always enjoyed so much here with their amazing seafood selection and wonderful taste. Strongly recommend!
Excellent restaurant experience. A little pricey, however.
Amazing restaurant will definitely come back. I found the tables to be quite tight together though. Sometimes the servers derrières would brush my back to sneak by and serve other tables. All in all great though!
Had a dinner reservation at 8:00 P.M. and upon arrival we were promptly seated. The restaurant is very busy...and very noisy so expect to dine with 100 of your closest friends. Tables are packed tightly next to each other so this is not a restaurant to go to if you want an intimate and quiet romantic atmosphere. Service was attentive but due to the noise from the piano to other patrons, our server could not really "connect" with her guests. The food was of average quality. Daily trio of fish entrée was plated nicely and quantity was great, but salmon was slightly rare and mashed potato sous prawns was excessive. Swordfish entrée was prepared "ahi" style but came across under seasoned and "chewy" Vegetable sides for both entrees as per all "trendy" establishments these days.... blanched at best and very raw. All in all, $140 including taxes and gratuity for two diners" a shared salad, two entrees and one glass of wine no dessert. Maybe not so steep pricewise for a downtown Vancouver eatery of their reputation, but Fortes needs to up their game in the food quality aspect in spite of their their success.
We had a wonderful dinner! Our server was super friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious! Cant' wait to come back
Excellent all round EXCEPT for the super loud piano thundering on throughout our meal. Impossible to hear and speak at a normal level. If the idea is turn tables quickly this is a sure fire way to make that happen! Our server was AMAZING. Incredible attention to detail and our every need
Came in for my mother’s birthday and was throughly disappointed by our service. Our Server didn’t know the menu and seemed to prioritize visiting with other servers rather than bringing us our food. He came and informed us our meal was going to be late which was nice, but I was little confused because it seemed he didn’t punch in our order because every other table was getting food except for us! At the end of our meal our finished plates at at the table for ten minutes before we asked someone to clear them for us. He didn’t even acknowledge my mother’s birthday when he guiltily brought over the complimentary dessert after asking another server to get our bill
I was seriously dissatisfied because I have eaten at Joe Fortes before and I absolutely love the food and have had amazing service before, it just was too bad this gentlemen ruined the feeling of the restaurant for us. Service was so poor not sure I’d return again
Service was very good and ambiance was very nice. Food was not exceptional it was good but I was really expecting it to be much better, it was a bit of a dis-appointment.
The Lobster Bisque was exceptional and I enjoyed every drop. My main was good but the vegetables and potatoes were far below expectation, my companion felt the same with their meal.
We had the best lunch of lobster and shrimp rolls and our waitress, Heather could not have been more helpful and attentive. She has such a pleasant personality. We will be back. Warren and Heather
Amazing service and recommendations from the menu.
We tried the West Coast seafood platter. The crab and lobster tasted good, clam was average, salmon was overcook and bit too dry, I personally do not like the baked oyster with cheese.
It came along with a dish of rice and vegetable. As an asian, I can tell that it was awful. Rice tasted like what you get on the plane.
We also tried the white wine Pentage from BC. It was sweet and we like it.
They have live music and our friendly server kept filling water for us and check if we need anything.
Overall, great atmosphere great service but the seafood platter is not worth the money.
After hearing about this restaurant, I expected much better food and service . Our waitress took all of our order but totally forgot to bring one of the dishes. There was a mother and 3 little kids nearby with very bad manners. Ambiance was not very good.
Fantastic food, excellent service and great lunch deals.
Joe fortes is always a place we go when in town. Great seafood, great service and great location.
Excellent food & services, had a nice night catching up with friends ❤️
The quality of the food is excellent! Unique menu items, great atmosphere and impeccable service!
