Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Our office Christmas get together and we all had a terrific time! The oysters to start were amazing, as always. One of our fellow diners had never had oysters and she fell in love with them! I'm betting she'll be back for the oysters alone.
Salmon, Arctic char, lobster and steak were among the entrees ordered and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Joe's never fails to deliver a marvellous meal and the service was over the top!
Thank you for a memorable dining experience....again!
Our meal server was very attentive; the food was delicious however we were seated next to a party of at least 40 persons that stood in the isle way talking and visiting very loudly. This busyness next to our small table intruded in our space. We could hardly carry on our own conversation due to the noise. We asked for another table and were told by a server (not ours) that there were no other tables available but we could go up on the roof. The temperature outside was 4 degrees and raining therefore we thought him quite rude to suggest this.
Wonderful seafood platter for two. Delicious seafood. Service was impeccable. The only drawback was that we were very close to another table and the waiter was constantly squeezing between my wife and the table behind us. She was constantly having to squeeze in to let the waiter serve the people behind us. The noise level was incredibly loud.
This was a great evening at the beginning of the Christmas season. We have dined here several times over the past few years, usually on our annual trip up to Vancouver. Always have a great time and the food and wine are super!! Brought some friends last year and they came back with us this year again and loved it. Our waiter, Michael, was fantastic and would highly recommend anyone to request him. Very personable and had lots of suggestions for food and wine. A great time again and will return the next time we are in town.
Overall the entire experience was great! The food and service was amazing! The place was packed when we were there, but we were greeted and brought to our table quick. Our server was very polite and answered any questions we had about the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Great service, fair prices, and great food!
We were looking for a good steak and fish restaurant and I remembered having been to Joe Fortes over a decade ago. I can honestly say we had a great meal and the restaurant has managed to maintain their high quality over the years. That’s rare in a restaurant. I had the ling cod special, encrusted in pumpkin seeds. Just delicious. The rest of the group had the steak prix fixe meal available during the week. A great deal with 3 courses for $44. Steaks were delicious and done to order, a full 7oz sirloin. Our mains took a bit longer than usual, not that we minded, but the chef sent out some amuse buche, candied smoked salmon. Lovely touch and great.
Our waiter was amazing and the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night. For dessert the tiramisu and creme brûlée were both yummy. We had a wonderful evening.
Highly recommend and would definitely go back!
We love to go to Joe's. First of all for the food, which for us is always seafood. Best Caesar salad anywhere. Loved the carpaccio. And we always have the pavlova for dessert. We are small people, we do not eat a lot, but servers always happily split entrees and salad. The servers and bussers and everyone is always friendly and competent. Employees stay there for a long time and you can tell it is a good place to work. The piano player has been there since it opened 33 years ago. They even turned the music down for us! And put us in a warm booth!
Have a wonderful birthday brunch with our family! Food and service was amazing! Only downside was that we ended up at the table closest to the kitchen doorway, so there was constant traffic going by our heads throughout the meal. Very tight, they could have given up a little room for more comfort. Will be back!
I picked this place for lunch as my final stop for my visit to the city. I had oysters, followed by clam chowder and tuna tartare. Food was excellent. Oysters were very fresh but not many options were available. They do offer lunch sets as more economic options. The restaurant has high ceilings and natural light in, which gave it a romantic ambiance.
I booked a table to celebrate my 70 th birthday on my own as part of a week of dining with friends. I was pleased that my table request was honoured so I had a prime seat to people watch as well as drink in the ambience of rich brass, oak, and Christmas garlands and lights. The service and food were impeccable and the meal finished with a lovely surprise- a creme brule complete with candle. Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable evening. Cheers!
