Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Prawn cocktail was amazing, our server Melissa was very professional and great with my picky family, got our orders exactly the way we wanted them. The gnocchi was good but I will not order it again, a little on the spicy side for me.
Thank you for another great meal!
This was poor food, poor value and not good service. It is trading on its old reputation and sadly does not live up to that tradition. In short do not go there.
I booked well in advance. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, the table was for 8 people but squeezed onto two tables which could only seat 6. We were fortunate as 2 did not show.
The rare tuna was over cooked, the steak was inedible. As host I asked all afterwards about the experience. All had complaints about the food.
The service was poor and included pouring wine into the water glass, long waits between courses, upselling, one server comment was “well that’s what you ordered”.
As a group we get on very well. This saved the day not the restaurant. I should have complained at the time but wanted to speak to my guests before forming an opinion.
It was my 20th birthday! Right when we were seated, a waitress came over and ask if we were having brunch for any special occasion and I told her it was my birthday. The food was amazing! I had the seafood pave and it was to die for; the shrimp was pan fried to perfection!! After they cleared our plates she brought out crème brûlée with a candle!!! It was so thoughtful and unexpected!
We enjoyed a lovely meal and ambience of the restaurant but we did not have the best experience with our server. He was ok BUT we have never had an ok experience with service at your restaurant. I always feel a server can make or break the event and ours certainly didn't make it. We look forward to another positive meal in the future.
Server’s knowledge of food was good. Could have been quicker on offering more wines.
Left a sentimental scarf on the chair. Could give that little bit more service by contacting me by phone (my number is on Open Table) to let me know how I can eventually retrieve it.
3rd time visit. Improving but not quite 5-star.
Our server ( Johnny D) was very rude and did not follow up with us once. He started the night by just standing at our table and just staring at myself and my date. After about 30 seconds We told him we'd like to order drinks and he said "good" and Took our order down. Almost every single sever in my lifetime has told us their specials or something they'd recommend or ANYTHING besides staring blankly at us. Throughout our meal he did not come to us once to ask how everything was or anything. We had to wave down the porter to ask to get the servers attention. We ordered a lot of food ( two appys and the seafood platter for 2 , which is very large) so when it came time for dessert we politely declined as we were full and said just the bill please. This guy rolled his eyes and stared at me and walked away. What kind of server does that. I'm paying $250 for a meal and you rolls your eyes when we are full and don't feel like dessert? When he brought the bill he didn't place it on the table and walk away, he placed it on the table , looked at myself and my date in our eyes, and slide it in front of me, smirked, and walked away.
Our anniversary dinner was spoiled that server and ruined our evening. The food was good , nothing amazing , carrots were basically raw , but other then that it was fine food wise.
Found the restaurant friendly an the service was great .... food was good .... We had a variety of dishes which were great ... the lobster was disappointing for the cost we paid .... and dessert had frozen fruit which could have been after New Years but the item was taken off the bill not by our request so are server had good insight ... overall was pleased with our time there.
We with a total of nine people dined here for our organization’s New Year luncheon. Our server, Brian, went above and beyond our expectation. He did a great job explaining each signature dishes. The dishes were delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are really into seafood.
Been here many times - this times was unusual - our meal took too long to get to us - they gave us an appetizer on the house - no explanation as to the long wait for our food - many patrons were seated, ordered, ate and paid before our food arrived - Kevin gave no indication why our order took so long - when the food arrived it was good however not too hot - I had the crab dinner which was just warm - just an off night we guessed. It'll be a while before we're back and will then ask for Wade to be our server as he always manages our table well, with each course just coming one after the other with just enough time between each one to enjoy each others company and our food. Too bad, so sad, our evening was not quite what we expected. Perhaps next time . . .
Both food and service was impeccable. Would have preferred a table on the main upper dining floor with the white tablecloths for our annual family Christmas brunch. Was asked to switch tables, was told by hostess all tables already reserved. We were seated on the more casual tables in the bar area.
Although the food was just alright today, I would still come back to try Joe Fortes again. This because my first experience here during happy hour was quite pleasant.
The ambiance and service were on par as always, but today we ordered two of Joe's 'classics' and both the ingredients and the taste was subpar to what a restaurant of this class (as determined by the restaurant's ambiance/service/price point) should have served. That being said, I would return to give it another go and would definitely recommend their happy hour for a quick get together with friends.
Disappointed in appetizer. Oyster Rockefeller which was insipid. Waiter said they would get fresh ones, took too long and our main meal arrived before the appetizer. Waiter told us they were on the house so despite arriving after our main course we didn’t send them back. The replacements were awful too. Worse though was they did charge us. Manager said basically they didn’t charge us for replacement oysters. Whoa something wrong here. Didn’t charge us for bad food delivered too late. Joe Fortes is no longer a classy place. Sneaky cheap Manager should be running some third rate joint not a restaurant that had class until recently. Wasn’t the cost of the oysters. Our bill was over 200.00 for two people and the half order of oysters was 11.00. It was the sneaky way they charged us and tried to tell us we were lucky as the replacement oysters were free. Whoa. Oysters were insipid, made up way ahead of time, delivered too late and we should be thankful they didn’t charge us. Joe Fortes going downhill very quickly.
Although an expensive place, it really is worth the cost. The food was all delicious and good portions for a high end restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. My only complaint would be that where we were seated happened to be right by a door... other patrons at nearby tables were too hot and constantly opened the door causing our table to be hit directly with an ice cold draft (it was late december and almost snowing)... not too pleasant to say the least. Otherwise, I will be back again, especially for happy hour
The food was great and the service top notch. My only complaint is the atmosphere and the layout of the restaurant. I went there for date night and it didnt feel too special. Feels like the owner couldnt decide between a lounge bar or a high end restaurant. It is VERY tight, hardly any space to move around. The tables are small and it is very LOUD. If youre looking for a romantic ambiance and talk to your date without shouting h6then go else where!
