Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House
There’s no other way to describe our experience, it was perfect. We came early to our reservation and they seated us right away on the top patio. The view was GORGEOUS. Our waiter Colin was amazing. He was funny and charming and he took such good care of us that evening. We had the prawn cocktail to start, and our mains were the fish and chips and the seafood linguini. The food was amazing. Everything was so fresh and flavourful. The lobster oil for the bread was probably the most interesting thing, because it was the first that we’ve heard of lobster oil but it was so tasty! I had the grape drink from the bar, and it was so refreshing for a spring evening. When we finished our meal, Colin brought over a crème brûlée that said “Happy Anniversary” on it! It was such a sweet surprise for us. They made us feel so welcomed and special. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is in search of a restaurant with amazing food, staff and atmosphere!
Have not been here for a few years. Not sure why. The food was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying. The only thing was we felt a little rushed as this is a very busy place.
Very loud but excellent service and food. They were extremely accommodating.
Our dining experience was, overall, very good. We were entertaining guests from the UK and they loved it. The food was great, the service was perfect, never had to wait for the waiter to come and check on things, so refreshing. The only thing I would have liked is a little more 'seclusion' perhaps from the bar area. It was often difficult to talk at our own table. We'll definitely be back!
The food and service were wonderful. My only complaint was the noise level, which only got worse when the pianist began playing.
The seafoods taste is very delicious and the salad and the clam chowder are very good as well. Definitely, I will come again with my family.
Unique restaurant and bar- almost a modern day, expensive saloon. Well appointed, large space with quality food and good service.
Great food, location, and service. We had a rooftop patio table
and were so impressed that we made return reservations for the next week.
I would recommend Joe fortes however very disappointed that they have a sports bar. I thought it was a high-end restaurant but it takes away from the ambiance when you have a final basketball game that everyone is cheering
We recently celebrated Mother’s Day there for brunch, our server Andrew was attentive and professional. The girls all standing at check in desk, could be a bit more friendly. The food was delicious!
Excellent Mother’s Day Brunch with the kids.
Service was fantastic and the food amazing.
Service was superb and the food was excellent as always!
Fantastic restaurant - service and food was top notch. My only complaint would be our table was under a speaker which was loud and made it difficult to talk and hear. The restaurant staff did turn it down but was still not an ideal table to sit at. The roof top patio is the place to sit. Would definitely return for another meal.
Absolutely love Joe Fortes and Saturday, May 11th was no exception. My parents were in town for the first time visiting from Ontario and had the most amazing night. Jenna took care of us on the rooftop patio and truly made it a memorable evening with her unbelievable service, the food was sensational and Jenna completely went above and beyond to make our groups evening truly spectacular.
Thank you to the entire team at Joe Fortes team for a wonderful night
Unfortunately, our recent experience was less than stellar. We were a group of seven and given a table on the patio (as requested). The overall vibe was pretentious when asked if we could be given a few extra candles for the table (the lights on the patio at our end did not work - nor were we told this would be the case, until asked, so we were eating in the dark!) the server replied with: 'yah, if I can find them, I will'... and quickly scurried off. We did not receive the candles and/or any additional light or an offer to move inside. Our server was unfriendly and came around the table maybe twice, the entire time we were there (only to take the orders); we had ordered multiple bottles of wine, of which we had to look for and pour ourselves! We won't be coming back; even more unacceptable when paying a premium for food/wine.
Vincent our server was excellent. All 4 of us had something different and all the meals were excellent. It can be quite loud but our table seemed to be in a bit quieter area. 5 stars overall.
I heard such good things about the restaurant but it really fell short of my expectations. Had to ask how to get service round here three times. First and last time I am afraid
We were there to celebrate a birthday and were delighted with the place. I knew what the menu prices were in advance and thought we got good value for money. B'day boy says "I had a great time, the steak (a Manhattan) was very good. The ambience of the whole place was very conducive to a relaxing and satisfying time!"
Poor value for money. Green beans and roast potatoes were under cooked. Salmon and trout were nothing special and the sauce was nondescript. Carrot cake was generous in size, period! Our server Marlea (sp) was quite wonderful.
Great evening out with friends. Food and service was amazing! Thank you
Always a good time at Joe Fortes. The staff are so accommodating and professional. Oysters were amazing!
Fantastic restaurant. Amazing service, food, music, and ambiance. Great place to celebrate or just enjoy the experience. Will definitely be back.
We dined at Joe Fortes our last night in Vancouver and were not disappointed. We ordered the rib-eyes,halibut and a swordfish special of the night. Food was delicious. Mike our server was excellent and even sent out an amuse bouche as our food was taking a bit long. Our only regret was that we were so full that we couldn’t order dessert! Thoroughly enjoyed
The food level was lower than before. It used to be more fresh and luxurious.
We had reserved a patio table but there was not one available. :( The noise level was quite high and made it difficult to hear all members at our table. Food and service were impeccable as usual!
Everything was amazing! I had a birthday and really wanted to sit on the patio. The stuff kindly provide us with the best seats!
Amazing food. The French toast will win over any child ( even the big ones ). Service was great.
We had Sunday brunch as a per cursor to Mother's Day. We sat out on the patio on a beautiful, sunny, 20 degree Vancouver day with a slight breeze. Perfect. The patio was full and we were lucky to have a nice place set out for us. We tried the lobster Benedict, French Toast (very interesting design), and the good Ole American Breakfast. It took a bit of time for the food to come but we were entertained by the gorgeous weather and the fantastic conversations. The food was excellent and the quality of the food and presentation was impeccable. Our server was very friendly and all in all, we had a fantastic brunch that set us off for the rest of the day. Well Done!
It was a great experience & we definitely would go back & a great service from Tim F. definitely deserves more than 5 stars! Highly recommend this place.
El lugar se ve que fue tradicional, pero vive un poco de ese prestigio sin cuidarlo. Muy ruidoso, el servicio es regular, la comida es a penas buena para el costo.
The service was great our server Vincent was excellent. He greeted us from the moment that we had sat down, brought us personalized menus for my dad’s 65th birthday. The whole night was a huge and very sweet celebration.
The memories that this has left for our family is something that words can’t describe! My dad was thrilled to have such a fun rewarding night.
Thank you Vincent and all of the team at Joe Fortes
We had a group of 10, service and food was excellent would high recommend it to anyone.
The food was delicious and the service was very good. Awesome Pavlova for dessert.
Good food and great service.
Food was decent although service a bit too quick for
My liking, no pause between courses. Attentive and friendly service.
Three friends who wanted to catch up over a meal. It was perfect. Our server was amazing. She surfaced whenever we needed her. She kept our water glasses filled. We stayed a long time but did not feel rushed to leave. We sat outside and it was a bit cool for one friend but they gave her a blanket.
I have dreamt of visiting Joe Fortes for years, and this was my 1st visit on our 21st wedding anniversary. They warmly welcomed us, sat us on the famous rooftop patio and gifted us a delicious tiramisu for dessert. The knowledge of menu from our waiter Rob was impeccable. We absolutely savoured dishes. We felt truly spoiled. It exceeded our high expectations!
We can’t wait to return to Joe Fortes!!
That was an amazing experience to have dinner at Joe Fortes. Oysters were so fresh and tasty. Sockeye salmon was also good. We enjoyed white wine made in Canada.
I was disappointed with the service we got from our server. When we were seated and given the menus we were told she would be right back to take our order but she did not return for a while even though we had our menus closed and the whole party was obviously waiting to get our dinner order in. There was a marked difference between how she interacted with our table and the tables around us (i.e., did not spend a lot of time at our table, barely checked on us, etc.). The seafood was delicious but the sides that accompanied the dishes were lacking (i.e., the kale and mushrooms that was with my sablefish was just not very appealing to look at nor was it something I would want again). There was also the incident when someone in my party got a lobster shower from the table next to us. The server was cracking the claw and sprayed lobster liquid all over my dinner companion’s neck. The server’s comment that at least it didn’t get on his clothing was not appreciated at the time. I also included when making the reservation that it was for a birthday celebration but that wasn’t acknowledged during the dinner either.
