This place is classic old school NYC. I mean where can you get meatloaf, mashed potatoes, calf’s liver and banana cream pie that’s REALLY good. And the waiters are such personalities. Go after 9:30 to people watch. Oh and the French fries are a not to miss. Love this place.
Always love Joe’s! So glad to be able to do to a wonderful play and have a martini and a burger at Joe Allen’s after.. treats are back!
Our server was a lovely human being. We had the best evening
Joe Allen is the perfect choice for dinner before a Broadway show. Simple menu, great service, good drinks.
Delicious food and wonderful service! Definitely recommend!
Lobe Joe Allen!! I’ve been there three times in 6 days - it is the Cheers of Broadway ! Greta good and nice waiters!
Tried and true. Joe Allen never disappoints. I had the calf's liver with bacon and onions. My friends both had the meatloaf. Can't go wrong with either of them!
Excellent burger! Best I’ve had in a long time!
So nice to be back at a favorite.. though it was very slow while I was there. The staff was attentive. And food wonderful.
Broadway is Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe Allen is back and happily so! The menu has some of its favorite offerings and some new as well. Service is familiar, friendly, and hospitable. Like Dolly returning to the Harmonia Gardens, Joe: “it’s so nice to have you back where you belong!”
One of my favorite places to go before a show. Fun decor, attentive service and delicious food.
Went to Joe Allen for brunch before the theater. Food was excellent and service very attuned to theater goers. This place has been around forever, and now I understand why. Best Bloody Mary ever!!!!
I was overjoyed to hear that Joe Allen reopened. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. The food is consistently superb, the wait staff is attentive (without being intrusive) , and even the drinks are perfect. It has a classy "casual" vibe but I, for one, would not wear dungarees to eat here. The liver and onions entree is my personal favorite along with the banana cream pie, but you can't go wrong even if ordering one of their sandwiches. I will definitely be returning to eat here soon.
We dined at the restaurant pre theatre and really enjoyed the food and service so much that we returned after the show. We wer only in the city 2 nights. After our second show the following night we went back and had another delicious dinner. We can't wait to return on our next trip to the city.
Great location; superb ambiance, staff and food. What else is there to say! I particularly like the simple elegance of Joe Allen. So glad you are back as we safely navigate the pandemic together!
Year after year, Joe Allen's never disappoints the theater crowd it's catered to since 1965. Legendary service for comfort food in speak-easy environment that inexplicable makes your feel like you've arrived.
We love Joe Allen! So glad your open again!! Food is great but we missed a few things from the old menu. Couldn’t wait for a slice of banana cream pie to celebrate my husbands birthday. It was good but not as great as the woman who used to bake them. Can’t wait to tie in Joe Allen with a Broadway Show after!
Loved it - miss it on miami . Always so good . Never disappoints- super consistent
Joe Allen is far and away my favorite spot for a pre or post Broadway meal. Always great food and service. Best place for a celebrity sighting!
It was wonderful to be back dining and enjoying great food and ambience at the iconic Joe Allen.
Glad to have an institution like Joe Allen survive the pandemic and ready to serve theater patrons. A great option for before or after your show or movie.
Always a great place to eat… Good service and atmosphere.
It was wonderful to dine once again at Joe Allen’s! Due to the pandemic, it had been some time since we had last been there. It felt great to be welcomed back! Staff was very accommodating and food was better than ever! We look forward to returning soon. Thank you!
Have been patrons for over 40 years. Have not been for many months because of closure from the pandemic. Like old times some of the same old staff. Like coming home
Jeffrey is the BEST server on Earth. And being back at Joe Allen was a dream. It's been missed during the pandemic. Same energy. Same food. Same cocktails. Same piece of home.
Nice to be back.. Great service, friendly, smiling, fun, efficient from the waiter. Food good... burger very good, but seemed smaller. Nice crowd...
Joe Allen is back and I couldn’t be happier. Long time NYC tradition. You can always count on the quality of the food and service and that special Joe Allen vibe. They never disappoint.
Joe Allen has always been my favourite restaurant in theaterland. How glorious to have it open again. The staff are personable, able and professional. The menu of comfort food and classic dishes is classic. My steak tartare was just as it should be (and so rarely is elsewhere). The dining room, decorated with posters of Broadway flops, is clubby and comfortable. With Mr Allen’s death and the delay in theater reopening, I feared the restaurant might not reopen. It’s back by and the same as it ever was: perfect!
Joe Allen is as fantastic as ever. Great ambiance, delicious food, and outstanding service. My dinner companion would want me to add applause to the bartender too; he said it was the perfect Manhattan!
So great to have this staple back after its long Covid hiatus. One of the best places to go before or after a Broadway show!
So happy it’s open again. It’s the perfect neighborhood restaurant.
So happy to see it back open and with the same high qulaity of food and service.
This place is my "go to" comfort place. The Martinis are always perfect, service prompt but not pesky, ambiance is very nice, food is wonderful.
So glad Joe Allen is open again — just like it always was, except some new technology for ordering. Comfortable, familiar and homey — with good food!
It has class. That's all that needs to be said. Wait staff worked as a team. Everyone delivered excellent service.
.would be nice to have more white wines by the glass.
So excited you have opened back up!
Our first time back to the City from Dallas in over 2 years.
As always one of our favorites!
Great comfort food, perfect theater-district atmosphere. VERY nice to be back!
I loved the ambience. The burger was good. Service was excellent. Would like more menu choices.
Had the best hamburger. Perfectly cooked and served. The French fries were also the best - crunchy, crispy bits of potato, perfectly realized. Wait staff were engaging, prompt with excellent service and quick with a smile. I would definitely return for an encore.
