We take reservations starting one week in advance of your desired date--seven days in advance, starting at 11 AM online and over the phone. And with Broadway's staggered start times, things get tricky, so if your desired time is unavailable online, please give us a call; we hold a certain number of tables for phone reservations only. For parties of six or more, please call the restaurant directly.

Because of staggered theater times we can only guarantee reservations made online for one-and-a-half hours for parties of two, and two hours for parties of three or more. Apologies, but we don't reserve tables "only for drinks."

Since 1965, Joe Allen has been a quintessential New York restaurant serving a classic American menu in the heart of the Theater District. Just two blocks from Times Square, it has been a favorite of Broadway performers, locals, and tourists for almost 50 years.

    We booked Joe Allen as a pre-show dinner because it was close to our theater. When we first walked in I was like "oh no this is going to be bar food at best." I was so happy to be proven 100% wrong!! The food was awesome - starting with the chips and Guac - the chips were made from shaved taro root and made in house - so delicious and different! My husband ordered the meatloaf - the gravy had a wonderful flavor and the meatloaf itself was tender and not too dense. I had the monkfish, which was very mild and the tomato and caper sauce was yummy. Our waiter Devon was amazing, so fun to talk with and had great recommendations. The whole experience felt much more high end than we were expecting. Even though it seems like a bit of a touristy spot it's definitely worth trying, especially for pre-theater. They were quick but we didn't feel rushed at all. We would go back for sure, especially if we could sit in Devon's section.

    I enjoyed it to the max. That has always been true from the time in the eighties when I was producing on Broadway and was a regular diner until now when I come as often as I am in the audience. I am impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the friendliness of the atmosphere. I will happily try everything on the menu and hope I can keep coming in order to do so. Thank you to all!

    Delicious dinner, great service and easily accessible to the theatre we were going to... around the corner. Plenty of time with a 5 or 5:30 dinner to get to a 7 pm show.

    Server (not our waitress) brought out our entrees while we were in the middle of our apps (Steak Tartar & La Scala salad) then left our food under heat lamp till we were done drying out the meatloaf and not doing the burger any good either (fries were cold). It was just after 3 pm on a Sunday so the place was literally empty. Don’t know why the food had to be so rushed. Our waitress however couldn’t have been nicer though the portions were smaller than I remember. Over-all still one of my favs.
