A wonderful experience as always, such a gem! We love Joe Allen and everyone there.
So sad to see it close. So very sad to see it close.
Many moths later and we're open again, just letting everyone know!
We had a wonderful time. Food and drinks were excellent, service was great and our server had a great personality.
Always love Joe Allen for before or after theater dinner. Or simply to pop into the bar for a drink. Our waiter was a riot - I wish I could remember his name - but he was the best! We'll be back after the coronavirus fades away. Everyone, please wash your hands and stay healthy!!!
Nice place, great food bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
I haven't been to Joe Allen's for a while, so am not a regular. When we arrived at 8:40pm per reservation, it was fairly empty. Nonetheless, we were seated way in the back. I didn't object because I didn't want to be disagreeable in front of my son, to whom I had told Joe Allen's was such a great place. We had finished within the hour and when we left, it still was not crowded, and I just wish we had been placed at a nicer table. It felt disrespectful.
We’re regulars. It’s a lovely, reliable joint for pre or post theatre. Staff are warm and welcoming. Food is also reliable, not too creative but very satisfying. Love coming here.
A reliable sanctuary from the madness of the Midtown theatre district.
Went for brunch - the stuffed french toast and the yogurt with berries were both fantastic. Can't wait to go back again!
Branzino and scallops were tremendous. Drinks were ok...a bit overpriced but hey, it’s NYC. Overall very nice pre-show experience.
We Will always love going here. However, we missed seeing some of our regular entrees like free range chicken, and no pasta dish except chicken Parmesan?
The service was wonderful, and it was nice to be there on
Always good, always fun, always special!
I could go with yes or no on this one depending on the friends. While I enjoyed the cauliflower and hummus, the fact that there were almost no "non-meat" options at a restaurant in 2020 is amazing to me. There were four of us dining and three of us don't eat meat. One person got the caesar salad, two of us got the cauliflower and hummus. Pretty much our only options. Having said that, the meals we all got were good, the service was excellent and the location is really convenient to theaters.
Joe Allen is often my go to place for lunch on Matinee Wednesdays! Good food, good service and fair prices.
You can't be Joe Allen for a pre-theatre lunch or dinner. Reliable food and very good service.
Great for after theater. An old stand-by that has aged well. You can get a lighter dinner and the food is ok to good. It’s like a diner for the rich and famous.
Good comfort food and drinks at reasonable (Manhattan) prices.
This place has tremendous potential! The inside is warm and cozy. The tables aren't too close for comfort as with other restaurants. The menu has a good variety, but the food is just mediocre. I had the brisket sandwich. The bread was good, the spread was good, but the brisket was dry and tasteless. My sister had the turkey burger--same issue--good bun and fixings, but the turkey burger was bland. So sad! A real disappoint given the restaurant's wonderful ambiance. I think the bar would be packed if they had a specialty cocktail list. The servers need better training. No food recommendations. No drink recommendations. The place was virtually empty, but our server only visited the table a few times and seemed disinterested in the job at hand. This would be a great place to order a beer if only for the ambiance, but don't go there looking for a specialty cocktail or for a good, quick meal.
Loved Joe Allen. Everyone was so nice! Food was excellent
Food and service were both outstanding...It’s always been a gem and it still is.
Our go-to place in the Theater District. Professional staff. Great burgers. And, if you go in the evening AFTER a show, you never know who you'll see there!
We left the theatre and needed a quick bite to eat. Few tables empty at 10.50 pm but not too much to choose from the menu for vegetarians. Lovely waitress recommended the cauliflower hummus dish which was delicious. Fun place with a good story.
Wonderful dining experience as always.
Had a wonderful lunch with my 9 year old grandson. I have been a patron for years, this however Isaacs first experience. So happy to share these experiences.
Overall, everything was excellent. However, this is the first time that it took 20 minutes between when I finished my appetizer and when my turkey burger arrived, and it was not that busy... However, my server was attentive.,
Limited menu. Not very creative. Seated by door with wind every time door opened.
Can always count on the consistency of a meal at Joe Allen - great service fresh food and delicious banana cream pie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Joe Allen is one of the best spots in NYC. Warm, comfortable environment where you get great food, service and ambiance. (And if you are a theatre fan, you are pretty likely to run into some major Broadway stars dining.) This past trip our service was impeccable as always and Jonathan, in particular, was not only an amazing server and bartender but, AWESOME to chat with at the bar! Definitely hit Joe Allen's when you are in NYC!!!!
Pre-theater on Monday night. Sat at table bar side. Man at next table kept hitting my seat. Service inconsistent. Food just ok. Menu could use ‘refreshing.’ Bartender makes a solid cocktail.
Wonderful spot for brunch with out of town friends. Terrific service and delicious food.
Great for pre-theater or just hanging out at the bar! Great, reasonably priced venue.
Great spot for pre theater
Came here for my birthday lunch and the experience was incredible. It was quiet during the lunch hour. The service was absolutely perfect and the food was easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. I can’t recommend them enough.
Great place. Main courses could be a little bigger
Always dependable. We eat there every time we visit the City — at least once.
Shawn was our waitress and she recommended the steak and it was awesome. She was so friendly and helpful. We had the best meal and the food comes our so fast! Great experience! We went back 2 days later.
I had an important meeting that day. I wanted to impress people and I wanted good service. It was excellent. There’s nothing compared to great NYC dining. Thanks so much.
My favorite old school New York restaurant We go after shows and it always delivers
You don’t really go here for the food, although it’s fine. It’s the ambience and the wait staff, both theatrical and fabulous. We love it here.
