The food was fabulous. Had the scallops which were excellent. My friend commented on how good her filet was. The service was equally wonderful. The noise level was a bit high for a small cozy restaurant. All in all, it is now in my top 5 restaurants in the St Paul area.
Absolutely loved our dishes and time at Joan’s as usual!
If you eat early noise level is conversation friendly, later conversation is hard.
The trade off is excellent, local, from scratch cooking.
I will come back.
Excellent meal in a cozy, bistro-ish, neighborhood-restaurant-feel place with a creative menu, great food and excellent service. The only negative is the relatively high cost--probably 'worth it', but something that will definitely need to be tucked into the equation as far as a return visit is concerned.
Outstanding meal! From the starters, to the entree, the kale Cesar salad, the best bread i have ever had, the wine, etc... we will be going back soon. On top of all that we had amazing service from the time we walked in the door.
Love your restaurant!
Food, service and drinks spot on. We had a great night.
We LOVE Joan's in the Park. After discovering this wonderful little restaurant last year, we have returned every couple of months since. From the outside, the space seems very unassuming, but once in the door you are welcomed by an attractive and cozy bar and dining space (nice patio in the summer too).
The food is definitely the star of the show, with a relatively small menu that rotates dishes in and out so there's usually something new to try. From the creative starters and salads to the beautifully prepared and plated entrees, every bite is delicious and special.
The bar and wine list are not huge, but the quality is terrific. It's obvious a lot of attention has been given to wine selection, and I've never been disappointed no matter the price point. The service here is uniformly wonderful. Although servers have different styles and presentations, they are all well-trained, friendly and eager to make sure patrons have a fantastic experience.
Depending on the season and the day, the room can be a little loud, but somehow never loses the cozy vibe. Joan's is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it truly is worth the cost. We tend to splurge when we visit so end up with a pretty healthy tab. However it's absolutely possible to have a nice dinner without spending a fortune.
There aren't many places I would ever rave about, but Joan's in the Park is a fantastic dining experience.
Both the service and the quality of the food is consistently some of the best in the Twin Cities.
Second time there and great again.
Will go back soon
Always a treat. Excellent food always, with a neighborhood feel and hospitality
Definitely a favorite restaurant. Great food (Susan seems to have a talent for fish), warm service and brown butter pudding! The best!
Dinner at Joan's in the Park was very good. The service from Dan was once again excellent. The value for the quality of food prepared is high relative to comparable restaurants in the Twin Cities. On this visit, the entrees were particularly good for our group: scallops, tenderloin, fish special, a vegetarian mix. The only drawback for business meals at Joan's is the noise level, which is moderate-to-high, making business conversations sometimes challenging. Otherwise, we'll be back!
We had a great experience at Joan's in the Park. The staff was very welcoming and the food was delicious. I would definitely go back!
I have never written a review for a restaurant in my life, but after the outstanding experience my husband and I had on our date there the other night, I had to send my support! Our server Matt was fun, knowledgeable, and precessional; the owner came and apologized for the 10min wait we had even though we had a reservation, and the food was so fresh and delicious! We loved the wine we had as well! A bit on the pricy side, but well worth the service and the experinace in my opinion.
Birthday. Great method to celebrate- take a photo keepsake of your group.
Great food! We were there with my son to celebrate my husband's birthday. All the dishes were superb, the flavors perfectly balanced. Two favorites are the lobster salad and Signature brown butter dessert. The service was attentive and friendly. Quiet and relaxed ambiance enhances conversation. I've never been disappointed at Joan's in the Park!
Fantastic food, wonderful service, a little pricey but well worth it.
The food and service were wonderful. We had the lobster toast to start, and had the filet and scallops respectively for our entrees. We finished with the brown butter pudding and semolina cake for dessert. It was enjoyable and delicious from start to finish and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back.
Delicious food and great service. This is nitpicky--there were 6 of us and would have liked separate tabs.
Exceptional service! We had an 11 month old with us and the staff was wonderful and accommodating and extremely helpful. Food was amazing, and we all enjoyed our evening.
Food was great and perfectly prepared. Service was wonderful. Thanks, Dan
We go to joan's often and are never disappointed. The food is always tasty and creative. The service is friendly and consistent.
Joan and staff make it a very personable experience. It has a very neighborly feel, that you are part of the area no matter where you came from. It's a gem.
The food is delicious! Service is on point, she even used a crumber to our table. It is a very small restaurant, cozy. Definitely recommend making reservations.
Enjoyed a really tasty meal with great cocktails to start and a lovely warm atmosphere for conversation. The chef, owner, and chef's daughter (our waitress) all made us feel especially well taken care of. The food was exquisite. We'll definitely be back.
Always impeccable. Took my steak loving friend who has sampled most high end steakhouses in the area and he said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had (8 oz. filet, with mushrooms and a reduction sauce, a perfect medium rare).
Their cocktail menu is mostly classics. Perfectly executed, consistent versions of your favorite drink.
Service is always good. Gracious, well informed, and present but not overbearing.
The dining and bar space are small and intimate. Reservations a must. Limited bar seating is luck of the draw. Older well heeled crowd, with lots of regulars.
This is a top 5 restaurant in the Twin Cities. No doubt.
wasn't so sure about this before i went. The food was over the top and its a great romantic spot.
I sat by a window and was a bit cold but I would do this over and over again. Food was so good! I will return as we loved it !
We dined early which was a good thing as the noise level escalated as the evening progressed! Our waiter Dan was very accommodating as one of guests had some gluten free restrictions. Overall it was a pleasant experience!
This was a referral from a friend and it definitely lived up to our expectations. I let them know that we had 2 birthdays in our party. They started with sparkles on the table. Appetizers, main dish, dessert and wine and after dinner drinks were amazing. Our server was over-the-top with service; he even took our photo and handed each of us an actual printed photo to remember this special evening. 5 Stars
Food is phenomenal, service wonderful. Just a great neighborhood restaurant that serves unique we'll crafted fare
Joan's NEVER disappoints!! Worth every penny + leftovers!!
Thank you for a wonderful experience!! We love this place!
We were blown away with the flavors in every item ordered. We will definitely go back again.
Still one of the best restaurants in the state of Minnesota! Very friendly and enthusiastic service that really cares about their customers.
What a gem this place is! Small, but beautiful. The food was exceptional. The service was friendly and accommodating. Reservations are a MUST. We cannot wait to go back.
Amazing! Everything was amazing!
Joan's is absolutely our favorite place to celebrate special events and be with favorite people. Always great food and special service.
Super as always!!
Joan’s in the Park was easily the best dinner I’ve had in a few years. Every taste had complexity and balance. It was truly remarkable. I highly recommend the Butternut Squash Ravioli appetizer and the Brown Butter Apple wIth Taleggio Fondue Salad. Their Beef Cheeks were amazing as well. 5 out of 5. My only complaint is noise level, but that is to be expected in a highly popular establishment with limited seating.
Absolutely LOVE this place. Outstanding food, wine and service. Joan's on the park is one of our favorite restaurants. Not a bad drive from mpls and well worth it. Outstanding
If you have never eaten here..make it a Bucket List ITEM. BEST STEAK IN the Twin Cities..best lobster salad..great wine selection...interesting dishes on the menu...all served in a very quaint atmosphere. Love..love this experience each time we go. Thank you
