We went to this restaurant while we were in Silverdale for two nights, and we were delightfully surprised to find good Japanese food being served at reasonable prices. We look forward to dining at this place the next time we are in the area.
There aren't a lot of good sushi options in Kitsap county, just a few. I am really excited that I discovered Jo:a because their sushi and menu is very tasty. The sushi was fresh tasting and very good. They offered gluten free soy sauce (tamari) which is important for some people.
Restaurant was closed, no warning on website or Open Table!!! Unacceptable for a restaurant to still accept reservations via the app that their website expressly points you to.
My wife and I stopped by on Valentine's Day without reservations and told the wait was 20-30 minutes. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes before leaving. The staff was holding open tables for up to 20 minutes waiting for the next reservation.
We made reservations this time for Fathers Day, but on arrival were told the restaurant was not accepting the reservations because they were too busy. Fortunately, the wait was reasonable this time.
Food is great, but our service was a little slow.
The manager stated that Jo:a does not have a business relationship with OpenTable so he would not honor our reservation. The floor was sticky. Our waitress had to be prompted to bring the soup and salad. The giyoza was burned.
We have dined here several times and liked it enough to return. It has never been a disaster - as this experience was. We will stay away for a year in hopes that Jo:a can get their problems sorted out. Hakata is nearby.
My Wife and I went to Jo:a for my 58th Birthday. My youngest Daughter recommended this Restaurant over the other Silverdale Japanese Restaurants. I am Half Japanese and accustomed to excellent original Japanese Cuisine. The entire Crew and Chef's at Jo:a are very courteous and respectful to all their Guests. Great food and Great People.
I love their sushi. It's much better than any of the other sushi places in this area.
I made the reservation through open table and the restaurant wasn't even open! I had family come from out of town to meet me there and was extremely dossapinted when we arrived to find it was closed
Everything was incredible. It was the best sushi I have had in a long time, fresh, and full of flavor. They have a great selection for all tastes. I highly recommend their seaweed salad it was so light and flavorful and was a very good size portion as well for only 5 dollars! We will be coming back to try all the different rolls thwy offer.
Such amazing food! Everything was just perfectly flavored and presented.
Lunch on a Monday national holiday. Waited at front for over fifteen minutes ungreeted. When someone finally came to seat us, they greeted the last group of people that came in the door, though there were several groups that had come in after us. I explained we had a reservation. They told us that if we wanted anything from the kitchen it would be a 40 minute wait. As you can imagine, I said "Pardon me?" The hostess explained that they could do sushi right away, but anything from the kitchen would take at least 40 minutes. I suppose I should mention at this point that there were six tables seated in the restaurant and three servers on shift. Probably five or six dirty tables.
Sushi was fine (Yellowtail and Unagi). Not the freshest, but better than I've had in the area. My son had the tuna nachos but was surprised at what he received. I suppose I should have checked to make sure he knew what he was ordering. I ate it the next day for breakfast, it was good. The ramen was a huge disappointment. I had the Shoyu. The broth was flavorless and the chicken was pretty much unrecognizable as chicken.
All in all, I had high hopes going in and was disappointed in just about every way. I would try it again for dinner, when they have better/more staff on, but I wouldn't be back for lunch. It wasn't worth $50, not the food, not the service.
Food was okay, not really authentic Japanese food that I was expecting. Miso was not that great, taste like instant and its not that hot.
Sushi is great, as is the service!!!
This was an excellent experience, we were celebrating my grown children's birthdays and the staff/waitress went above and beyond, offered recommendations on choices and even brought cake and ice cream for the table..thanks we had a real nice dinner and we will return.
Great service and excellent meal. I always enjoy JoAa.
Jo:A consistently delivers great food and excellent service at a good price. We usually order several rolls and some sashimi and the Hawaiian Poke appetizer or the Tuna Tower and it's always fantastic. They have the best servers in town! I always look forward to a meal at Jo:A.
Excellent food and service.
This was our second time at Jo:a we went during happy hour this time. On our previous visit our server told us that happy hour rolls were the same as during normal dining. This was not true, our rolls were much smaller than the normal size. Don't get me wrong the food was still awesome but the portion size was a little disappointing based on our expectations. Never the less a meal for 2 with drinks and out total was just over $20. Not bad at all for good food. Just expect to order 2 rolls if you go during happy hour. We will definitely be going back!
First the food: The Seahawks & Caterpillar rolls were excellent, as was the Unagi Nigiri. The Calamari Tempura was a disappointment and the Jo:a Seaweed Salad tasteless. For dessert the Fried Oreo Cookies were great. Jo:a was very noisy and this was at lunch time. We will return because the quality of the rolls and Nigiri were the best we've had in Kitsap county. Highly recommended.
The freshest sushi I've had so far in Kitsap! The sushi rice is properly seasoned and proportioned for nigiri. For all you other sushi restaurants out there, sushi rice is NOT just steamed white rice, should NOT be chilled, and should NOT be as big as the piece of fish. The place gets very busy so if you want a spot for dinner, plan to go at 5pm (that's the time they reopen for dinner service) unless you have reservations days in advance (we've only been there on Saturdays).
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Silverdale. Tastes just like the food we had in Tokyo.
Jo:a Japanese Restaurant is a top notch Japanese / Sushi Restaurant in the heart of Silverdale, WA. This neighborhood Gem is right for every occasion, whether sitting at the Sushi Bar or at a Table, the service is great. Steve, sushi chef, is great company displaying both his technique and love for the art of Sushi. They have many other Japanese food options to choose from that are kid friendly too.
My family dined in for Mother's Day, luckily I visited their website to know that I needed to make reservation. I got a confirmation via email about my reservation and showed it to the hostess .
Sushi was by far the best I have tasted in kitsap👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. This won't be the last that we dine in
I've been here twice so far. The sushi rivals that of the best places in Seattle.
This is the best sushi I have had in kitsap county. The chefs take pride in everything they do. Great service. Everytime we go it is exceptional. If you love sushi give it a try.... you won't be disappointed
Loved the look of this place. It was great seeing the cooks and the food was amazing. Our server was fun and took great care of us.
Was not expecting such creative sushi dishes outside of SF/NY. Was surprised. Everything tasted fresh and was very well presented. bravo
What I thought would be a great experience turned into a great disappointment.
Met family for dinner to try new Japanese restaurant in town. Friendly host who promptly seated us to our reserved table booked through opentable.com
Server took our drink orders....15 minutes later came with them. Ordered our meals, excited to try the food.
1. Brought 2 miso soup, ordered 3. Told no more..sorry.
2. Edamame was brought later....after waiting a long time.
3. Ordered from Happy Hour menu but told after 10 minutes from ordering to put in our last order as they were not doing anymore???? Was later told from other server that THEY RAN OUT OF RICE!!?? So we couldn't order any more rolls due to running out of rice??? How's that our fault??
4. My Bento box had a portion of rice that looked of 2 spoonfuls
5. Ran out of Yakisoba but replaced w another item.
6. To compensate for our meal, server said he took off (1) a Edamame . That was $3.00. Explain that?
Will I come back??? Probably not. I'd rather enjoy my Japanese cuisine at Trappers Sushi.
Overall tasted good. I liked it and would go again.
Simple décor, like you'd expect in an authentic Japanese restaurant. Great food. We had never been there before so we tried (and I recommend) the Bento Box Entrée for dinner. Too much food, so we took some home. Can't wait to go back again! Con: Place was very noisy at 7pm on Saturday and table service was a bit lax. We'll go back, because you can't beat very good Japanese food, but it will be earlier in the afternoon or evening.
We had the fried Tai which was very good. We also had the Edemame for an appetizer, although it did seem to be a bit on the small side portion-wise.
The sashimi was excellent. The amount of fish per piece was very generous and more than made up for the Edemame. The maki rolls were very good. Our waitress made some good suggestions.
We also had hot sake to drink which was better than the average hot sake.
The restaurant was clean and well kept. It's a new restaurant, and they seem to have figured it all out.
The food was amazing. The server was fantastic. I will definitely come here again.
Staff still learning the open table reservation and didn't have my table ready but got one made as soon as I got there. Great food and nice decor. Sushi is fresh. Will definitely come back.
Everything was memorable. The service the food the presentation the environment and atmosphere. Ordered a $50 sushi and Nigiri tray it was phenomenal and way more to food than we could eat... Can we say leftovers? Can't wait for lunch 😃 I wish I could add a picture
