Not what I expected. Served too quickly. Food not hot when served. Ambiance too stark. My fish was dry, only warm, and fishy tasting. I did not eat my meal, and that seemed of no concern to anyone. My husband’s chicken was dry and no cheese could be found.....
Great value - 4 courses for $30. and about 4 choices within each category.
We liked everything that we had. Not rushed and fun to talk to our server who is just new to the hospitality business. Had my leftover Hawaiian rolls for breakfast and still tasty the next day.
Our visit was so fun. It was a pleasure seeing students learning the techniques of serving and cooking for future clients . The students are learning the fundamentals. Preparation, serving,
greeting customers. The atmosphere of the dining room is 1970's. Mostly original everything. However I liked it because it brought me back to my younger years. I remember all of it.
Once again we enjoyed a superb meal at JNA. My dining companion and I love the seasonal themed menu with its array of choices in 4 courses. The flavors that the chefs prepared in the various Mediterranean dishes were outstanding. The portions are just right sized and the courses were served in a timely fashion so not to come out before we finished the previous course. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. We also love that it is a byob. We look forward to checking out the next season's menu.
At the price of $30 for the spring menu, you get four courses with about four choices per course to choose what appeals to you. We found something we liked for the first three courses and they were very good, especially the entrees. However, dessert left something to be desired that night. I would definitely return even with the lacking desserts. We each chose something different and none of us were satisfied. Maybe we will get a good pastry student next time.
The food was excellent, the staff was very attentive. We were out with friends and just had a very enjoyable evening. We are definitely going again. The menu options were great and staff made good recommendations. The chefs came out to visit and we enjoyed the conversation about JNA and the menu. Thanks for a great evening everyone!
I love coming here. The food and the service is great. No nasty over the top attitudes from staff.
The wine list was really great, the food was plated wonderfully. We have been going to JNA two or three times a year and have never had a bad meal . The students really try to make everything nice. The atmosphere is a little 1970s. It does not matter it adds to the enjoyment of the place.

We visited here on a Friday evening. Found it to be a great dining experience. The menu is limited, but very interesting choices. Dinner was a fixed price of $30, a great value. Every course was excellent, food was all very well prepared and well seasoned. Our wait staff was exceptional and the background music was perfect and allowed conversations to be had without shouting like in many establishments. We'll certainly return when in the area.
JNA is a culinary school. A large lobby area is turned into a seating area with about 8 tables. The food is prepared by students under a chef's supervision. We have been there over a dozen times. We follow the menu changes - French, Italian, Mediterranean, American, etc. We have never been disappointed. Keep in mind that students are training to wait on tables, open wine bottles, etc. so some are more experienced than others. Be patient. You get to talk to students and can request a kitchen visit. The four-course meal is a bargain. Be sure to leave a nice tip for the student fund.
This is a teaching experience for the kitchen and the floor staff, so my observations are meant not to criticize, but to help the staff with their education.
The servers were very polite. However, there is a certain patter that a good server has to know and maintain, and our server needed more practice on his. He was very prompt with our food and drinks, and he got our order 100% right.
The was mostly delicious. There was one item that didn't really knock me out, but that may have just been my taste. Everything was very well prepared and presented. Portions were perfect, but the sheer amount of food that comes with the prix fixed still left me stuffed. Not complaining about that.
We had the house wine. It was not extravagant, but it was quite tasty with the food we were served.
The owners took excellent care of us. It is clear that they expect the best for both their students and for their guests. It is gratifying, as a guest, to help the students improve their skills in the restaurant world, and to see the owners' pride when the guests leave happy.
I shall definitely return!
(Summer 2016 menu) I was not sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. Everything was well prepared and the service was friendly and mostly efficient. Our only criticism is that the seasonings on the first two courses was off. The scallops and gazpacho both needed salt, and I definitely like my gazpacho with some garlic in it, but I know that isn't in all recipes. The dressing on the salad was very vinegary --it needed something else to balance that out. The chicken and waffles were quite tasty. Flank steak was excellent and the lamb was pretty good (was a bit gristlely though). One word of advice on ordering--they definitely err on the side of caution on doneness. Medium rare came out way too dark red on both entrees. I had to send my lamb back for extra cooking time.
Desserts were both excellent!
