J.J. Foley's Cafe is located in the South End neighborhood of the city of Boston. This great family owned and operated Irish pub and restaurant, run by the Foley family, has been serving customers since it opened in 1909. Dark wood, comfortable seating and the copper ceiling maintain the classic Irish pub atmosphere. Watch the game while enjoying a pint at the bar or dine in one of J.J. Foley's comfortable tables in the dining room.
The staff at J.J. Foley's prides themselves on being friendly and professional, whether that means making the perfect Manhattan or helping customers choose from the many great food options on the menu. Start with the humongous nacho platter. There are a plethora of salad, sandwich or burger options to choose from for a meal. Returning customers rave about Mr. Foley's favorite, a sirloin burger topped with egg, bacon and cheese.
the potato soup was delicious- great meal with friends
we had an excellent dinner with a large group. The service was top notch and the food was very good. We will be back soon.
Foley's salad with chicken was just perfect. Fresh, crisp, tangy dressing with a bottle of hard cider. It was terrific
I was happy to see the new winter menu which means Jerry's Shepherd Pie is back and it is wonderful.
wonderful dinner everyone got just what they wanted, chili was wonderful it really hit the spot.
We've been here many times, sometimes with family and this time with friends who are fussy about food (and one is a vegan). We had an inexpensive bottle of Italian wine and jumped right into the sweet potato fries and a pizza as an appetizer. The main dishes were really excellent, although after the quite filling appetizer, we all had pizze or sandwiches. Can you rave about an "Irish BLT?" I will! The best surprise, dinner for four with wine, under $100 including the tip.
If you're a fan of the south end's first Friday gallery scene, this is (with Rocca closed) the best game in town.
great place to meet friends, good selection of beers. I had a turkey burger with a salad, it was delicious. Great service.
Delicious comfort food, amazing service! The roast chicken was to die for, and exactly what I was craving. My husband had the steak tips, which were also great. We'll be back!
soup was terrific we had a wonderful time- I love this place
walked in with a large group - the staff was wonderful, we had a great time, the food was wonderful -- the whole evening was just a joy the beef barley soup was delicious
perfect place to end the holiday weekend, watch football and relax
Can't believe the quality of food at J J Foley's on Berkley!
Some of the best comfort food I've ever had...including mom's.
Great to see family working and laughing together and treating customers as old friends all at the same time.
wonderful meal - a salad it was fresh and delicious. Excellent meal
Wonderful meal - perfect meeting place - great staff - I think they have the freshest beer in Boston
wonderful meeting site - great for neighbors to catch up - crab cakes were amazing and Santa Fe chicken soup was delicious
Santa Fe chicken soup was delicious I've become a fan
this is a neighborhood bar, in the south end. the menu is a variety of comfort foods and fried foods with some salads. Food was tasty. We ordered fish tacos (abundant food, delicious), macaroni and cheese, tuna melt and vegetable quesadilla. This is not a "touristy" restaurant, but rather seemed to be filled with locals. The beer list was good and prices were good. A nice dining experience.
Service was reasonably quick but not pushy. Would return.
wonderful dinner we came over after SOWA art reception. Watched the game, met a dozen old friends - food was just terrific. Friend with extreme food allergies ate a full meal, was happy about it - didn't feel slighted - staff was excellent, understanding and served food exactly as requested. 5 stars
terrific meal - seared crab cakes were amazing. They have hard cider which is terrific. great place to eat.
This is a neighbourhood pub - not much else. Staff very pleasant. Main course arrived during appetizers and was taken back to the kitchen only to return with soggy french fries.
But a fun place for the area. Would not go there for the food.
This is a an Irish pub, nothing more. If you want to go somewhere to drink with college kids it will be a great place to go, but not for the food.
great meal fish was delicious.
bring back Jerry's Shephard Pie - but until you do the chicken + vegtable soup was delicious - and the malted milk shake was delux
love those turkey bacon wraps they are addictive
great meal - baseball game was on, Red Sox won - shared meal with good friends -excellent service
great dinner - fish was excellent - great place
terrific meal - and I looked around and realized I was surrounded by neighbors - I like that feeling, everyone is so relaxed, the food is terrific and you just feel at ease there. great restaurant.
excellent meal great evening - love the food
New menu for summer dinning - soup and salad was terrific, really fresh and original flavors
Another terrific meal - brought new neighbors in, they were impressed. Food was fresh and delicious.
A perfect evening
Wonderful meal - great location and there always seems to be parking. I would highly recommend dinner here
Terrific meal -- I had the Salmon and Blue Crab Salad. It was delicious
My lunch companion was one of those fussy eaters. The waitress couldn't have been more gracious and was able to accommodate the dietary substitutions. She gave no indication that any of this was a problem- if I'd been the waitress I'd have rung the guys neck. This place is a gem. And the food was superb. I thought the soup was wonderful.
Took friends to eat at this wonderful neighborhood gem. Food was terrific, good service - we just had a wonderful time and watched a Red Sox game.
excellent family restaurant - good variety of tasty, fresh meals to please kids and gramma. Nice community atmosphere.
Terrific lunch brought visiting friends and they loved it. Service and the food were terrific. They had the salmon and blue crab - delicious.
best hamburger in town
Who knew? I lived in the South End for years and never tried JJ Foleys but recently went with a group of friends. The tilapia fish tacos were excellent and no suprise, so were the nachos as an appetizer. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the beer was great and the service was excellent. If you are looking for a casual, pub setting it is absolutely worth going to.
wonderful new menu items as always food is delicious.-- Red Bass was cooked to perfection
Went here after First Friday @SOWA galleries. We were seated quickly, and our waitress was friendly, offering my husband a taste of one of the beers he was considering. She also was helpful in suggesting a nonalcoholic drink from the bar for my friend. Overall, the food was nothing special. My turkey burger was over salted, but my husband liked his cheeseburger just fine. It's nice to be able to go to a bar in the South End and be able to have a burger and a beer without spending an arm and a leg.
