Contemporary American
Welcome to JJ Astor (located on the 16th floor of the Radisson Hotel Duluth), where guests enjoy welcoming service, inspired décor, modern approachability, unparalleled views, and signature dishes.
We have created a contemporary menu utilizing sustainable produce from local farmers and fresh fish from local fishermen.

Whether settling into the oversized armchairs in the lounge, or admiring the view from the inviting sofa style banquettes, the restaurant provides a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike.

Authentic portraits, blueprints, and photography from Duluth’s past adorn the teak panels located throughout the restaurant. While the most stunning view is undoubtedly the view of Lake Superior, the interiors also paint a captivating picture of their own.

Environment was great for Valentine’s Day. However, we had high expectations but it was just average food. Felt like we’ve had much better food for half the price. Also bread was stale and not good. The positive was the environment! Great atmosphere.

It's been a long time, glad we picked this place for our early Valentines. It was very dead. Maybe only 3 other tables occupied. Service was fantastic. Many new items, it was hard to choose but Blair? helped us make the right choice. Everything was wonderful. My ONLY complaint (and it's a stupid one) is that with the new renovations, the tables are too far away from the windows. More Chardonnay choice would be nice but the ones they have are excellent.

We have been coming to JJ's for around four years and I am so surprised it is not booked all the time. We mostly come for lunch and the food is great, the service is phenomenal, and the prices are reasonable, and obviously the view is spectacular. I am so sorry that more people have not discovered this wonderful restaurant and it is a gem for locals and visitors.

We loved the 360 view of Duluth at night! My husband ordered a meal with broccoli; however, it was not broccoli. He described at as anemic broccoli. His drink was called a daiquiri, but it didn’t have crushed ice. My husband thought they should rename it to more appropriately to what it was. I really enjoyed my chicken meal and wine. The service was very good!

New Years Eve. Wanting something special, but not an "event" we chose JJ Astor and are very glad that we did. The service was great, the food and beverages were terrific.
Viewing the harbor and skyline on a dark crisp night added great ambiance.

They were under staffed so long time between water fills and ordering food. Food was okay but not worth what they charge. The only positive thing they got going is the view. Restaurant needs a remodel bad. Would not recommend this to anyone unless you want to throw money away.

Me and my girlfriend visited on 23 December 2018, at about 8:30pm. Right as we sit down the waiter informs us of a good amount of items that they are out of, which considering we already knew we wanted the ribeye it wasn't a big deal. We understand it's later in the evening on a busy weekend and we are very easy going. By the time the table had rotated within earshot of the bar we could hear the bartenders and staff discussing about how they would walk out on the job under so and so circumstances and so on, which being that I work hard for a living I can understand the (possible) joking around with your co workers, but also there is a time and a place, and after five minutes it became pretty annoying. We got our food pretty quick and it wasn't bad but the steak wasn't as good as we expected. This place had been on our bucket list for visiting Duluth for a while because of the view, which I will add did not disappoint. Overall I just didn't think it was a $120 dollar experience. I wish I remembered the waiters name who served us, as he was very polite and friendly and came to check on us often. I would recommend the view to anyone that hasn't been, but not the restaurant itself.

We ordered the rib eye and fillet mignon. One was supposed to be med well the other med rare. They were done in opposite. Other than that, all was perfect. Great view of the city lights and Bentleyville. I would recommend this dining experience to my friends.

Started out waiting at the area to be seated for quite a while with no acknowledgment. Another party came behind me and they wondered again why no one was coming up to us. It was a good 10 mins before anyone came to ya only because the people behind me went to someone to ask. Plenty of people were near us, looked at is but said nothing to any party.
Marissa the waitress luckily made up for the long unacceptable wait in the beginning. And the food was very very good.

Great experience when you finally are seated! The wait was terrible, we had reservations for 6:30pm and didn’t get seated until after 7. The hostess lied and kept saying “very soon”. So many people were crowded waiting for a table and many of us were staying at the Radisson hotel, so she could have just been honest and have people wait in their hotel room until the table is actually ready. There is also a not crowded lounge area that we didn’t know about and could have at least waited there. The actual dining experience was nice, we had a very friendly waitress and food & view was good. I just really disliked how the waiting was handled. I went back to the room with our son while husband waited for the table to be ready and wish we had done that sooner!

I don't think 2 regular sized pancackes should cost $12, with nothing else included. They were tasty, but nothing more than that.

Waiter was great. Happy to help me find a great wine to enjoy with my meal. The steak was to die for. Cooked perfect and every bite was just as amazing as the last. Took several photos of us at several angles too. The view was spectacular. A little out dated and needed a little fixing up but overall great. Started our night off perfect

I read a lot of reviews, so was a little concerned. I was not disappointed. Our reservations were at 5pm, so there was no wait time. The scenery of Duluth was beautiful, we were able to view Bentlyville twice. The restaurant temperature was comfortable (not cold like some). Chad, our server, did a great job. The food was presented beautifully and everyone was pleased with the food (pasta, tuna, salmon and filet mignon).
The meal was pricey, so somewhere you would go for a special occasion only. I did notice the peeling wallpaper (probably only because I read reviews mentioning it).

It started out dysfunctional...there was no host/hostess so the wait staff were trying to welcome diners and wait on tables. We stood by the bar (no help coming from the bar staff) for 20+ minutes after being told "we will be right with you, all tables are taken" and when we were to be seated we informed them about our reservation and was told "do not worry about it." Glad to see a reservation made a difference. Two other parties of two walked out after waiting for 10+ minutes and not being acknowledged.

After being seated, the food and service were wonderful and erased the negative first impression.

Hint for management....this is Bentleyville time in Duluth..... Reassign staff to cover key FOH positions but never let dysfunction rule as there are plenty of other competitive dining options available. We will return because of the food and serving staff for the view. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

The view is spectacular, especially at Christmas time. It is definitely a place for a special occasion because it is pricey and the menu is very limited. Your table rotates 360 in one hour. Wait staff is very professional. A must if you come to Duluth.

Food was good, but not spectacular. Showed up 20 minutes early. I saw open tables but was told I couldnt be seated until my reservation time. Sat down at the bar and had a drink but hostess didn't take my name. Figured they'd just walk the 10 feet and get me. After my reservation time came and went I walked up to the hostess station and surprise, my table was waiting, but I couldnt sit until I paid my bar bill, like you cant transfer two drinks to my table? Only a portion of the rotating view was worth the ride, the Christmas lights. If you go after dark most of what you'll see is streetlights. You can find better service in Duluth with views of those

We had made a reservation and had to wait 45 min to be seated, among a bunch of other couples who made reservations as well. The host staff claimed it was a big group taking up tables but there were no big groups to be found and we overheard her mention to a coworker they were overbooked. Service was slow and tablecloths were dirty, candles unlit. The sound bounces around so it’s hard to hear the person across from you. Food was great but not worth the wait and price. Highly anticipated and highly disappointed in how we were treated as guests.

I would say everything was excellent but I would be lying... the wait time for our food was incredibly long I had made the reservation 3 weeks prior, I should have read other reviews posted to google... my server was excellent, but along with great service I would expect excellent food... the chef over cooked my steak my table for 4 all ordered relatively the same thing... I had to have it re made after that it was good. However we also ordered from the bar 3 lemon drops, and one red white and blue fabulous!! Until we got the bill... they where overcharging is for the drinks by several dollars... mis priced per menu.. and then we decided to heck with it let’s get desert we ordered a slice of red velvet to go it (they comped for meal error). However the only thing good about it was the frosting the rest was almost stale and dry not a good first impression... it’s the place to be for the view and the rotating factor but if you want excellent food dine elsewhere...
