We have created a contemporary menu utilizing sustainable produce from local farmers and fresh fish from local fishermen.
Whether settling into the oversized armchairs in the lounge, or admiring the view from the inviting sofa style banquettes, the restaurant provides a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike.
Authentic portraits, blueprints, and photography from Duluth’s past adorn the teak panels located throughout the restaurant. While the most stunning view is undoubtedly the view of Lake Superior, the interiors also paint a captivating picture of their own.
Happy Hour in the Lounge Everyday 3:00pm-6:00pm
The best thing about this restaurant was the view. The food was fair but not special. We had a brand new waitress and the service was very slow. Don’t know if it was because she was new or there weren’t enough wait staff. I decided to have sorbet for dessert but she didn’t know what flavor it was. It was not good and I didn’t eat it. I told her I would not recommend it and she voluntarily took it off our bill. Come for the view and friends but don’t expect a great lunch.
View was spectacular. Restaurant (and hotel) need a renovation NOW. Wallpaper coming off walls gave it a dirty, unkept feel. Food was ok but was way overpriced for the condition of the restaurant. Even the parking ramp was scary with poor lighting, garbage and construction materials in corner parking spots and the ceiling had paint flaking off and looked like it could cave in at any moment. Was very disappointing for our anniversary ... but again, the view at night of the aerial bridge with the lights in the harbor was very beautiful. However, we won’t be back unless Radisson puts money into this property and does a lot of upgrading. There are too many other choices.
This is one of my favorite places to dine in Duluth. I had the pleasure of taking an out-of-town date out for dinner this past weekend. Lovely!
Visiting from Rochester Mn and enjoyed the duck breast with the sinner fries appetizer! Everything was perfect!
Food was good- My steak was very under cooked but they were quick to fix it. The views are beautiful out the windows. The restaurant could use some updating.. Wallpaper was falling off the walls in some places and the rotating part would jerk sometimes and make noise. Overall good experience though!
Had an anniversary dinner at JJ Astor. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
We were lucky to get this double rainbow while visiting. Good food great view.
We enjoyed our dining experience. My steak was good but had a lot of fat in it. The tuna was delicious.
Food and beverage menus were great. The ambiance was lovely and the view was amazing, especially during sunset! Service was good but not great for an upscale full service restaurant with a higher price point. We made a full rotation by the time we had dinner and ordered dessert.
Visit the restaurant but stay at another hotel. The hotel itself is dated and guests we interacted with complained about it being dirty (in reference to the pool area and overall experience). We stayed elsewhere and took an Uber.
The view and experience was increadable. Perfect place to watch the harbor and the sunset. The food was good but not the best. The menu was also limited compared to the one posted on the website. If looking for great ambiance and experience this is an excellent choice.
Food and service was poor. View was great. Would not go again.
Honestly, in my opinion, this place was so run down it was an unpleasant experience. There were staffing issues, confusion all over, and the food was not that great. This place really needs redecorating as it is musky smelling and paint peeling on the ceiling. Seriously, some money into upgrades and make it a better experience for people.
25th Wedding Anniversary
Glass was never empty..... We went for the view and the food was also good.
JJ Astor's is fun because it revolves 360 degrees in about an hour giving diners a panoramic view of the port and hillside town. We had the walleye which was excellent. Service was also excellent. We would like to dine there for lunch as that menu has many choices for reasonable prices.
In all fairness, the construction on Superior Street has hurt the entire hotel I'm sure, along with the restuarant. It's difficult to get to. Our server was excellent, the food was ok but nothing spectacular. The entire hotel needs an uplift.
Food was average, and a little pricey, but considering the fantastic view of duluth harbor in Minnesota's only functional revolving restaurant, it was well worth it. Service was fast and friendly, professional too.
Celebrated our 1 year Anniversary here and it was so fun to see around Duluth waterfront while dining and the food was amazing.
Beautiful view with pretty good food. Updated nicely.
The views is why yo go to JJ Astor. Great views of the whole city of Duluth. We just ate brunch there because we stayed at the Hotel Radison. The crabbie meal was delicious. Great spot for after dinner cocktails in the lounge for the evening as well.
We have been there many times before and had excellent food and service. Not this time! Both my husband and I got sick from food/duck dinner. Specifically asked 3 times for pureed potatoes as I've always had but was served pasty mashed potatoes. Duck was not the same delicious food as in past - very fatty, chewy, way under cooked 🙁 Server was wearing worn and holey clothes, sometimes too busy for our table, but friendly for most part. We have always recommended and enjoyed JJ Astor's but will not rush back now...
It's a revolving restaurant with 360 degree views. There is an atmosphere of elegance, but casual attire is fine. The food has always been very good.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Trurly enjoyed our evening.
The wonderful view from this rotating restaurant atop the Radisson in Duluth is worth the trip. However, the hotel itself is a shadow of its former self: dirty carpets and floors, peeling wall paper, and spider webs on the windows. Some of the staff is trying, but it’s hard to understand why Radisson doesn’t fix this - especially so very close to their home offices!
Great food and ambiance views are spectacular but the price of food is way too high
Quality of menus not up to par. Did not mind the paper menu but it needs to be clean. Servers dress quality not good
The food was very good. The only complant I have is it was my best friends birthday and I phoned to make sure there was cake or something special and they told me sure there was just mention it to your server and I did that and nothing special happened or there was no surprise. Was"t happy and still feel that way. Not giving me reason to return!
This was our first time going to JJ Astor for a date night and it was completely worth it! The view was stunning and it was fairly quiet since our reservation was on a weeknight just before 9PM. The food was incredible and the Cheesecake was to DIE for. Worth the bill especially since you are paying for the 360 rotating view of Duluth. Will go again and highly recommend!
The windows were covered with spiders and spider webs.
My food was prepared incorrectly even though I thoroughly explained my food allergies.
Dinner took almost an hour to arrive at the table.
Just Average. The fact that restaurant rotates gives a good view of Lake and city
Excellent food! The Sinner’s Fries alone are worth going back for. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. I will go back. The view is incredible and you do not feel the restaurant going around.
The best part of our evening was the dessert and the views. It saved a sour evening of undressed pasta, over cooked asparagus, and 10 unpleasant pin bones. It’s a lovely place to sit and watch the harbor, but perhaps only for that and a lovely slice of raspberry layer cake.
A trip to Duluth is not complete without dinner at JJ Astor.
Excellent meals and of course, views! Our waiter Chad was simply top notch and made our dining experience even better.
Service started a little slow but Dawn ended up being excellent! Food was well prepared and delicious
Quiet and comfortable. Menu limited but the food was prepared very well. Service was nice. I felt like the server really wanted me to enjoy my night. The view was amazing.
JJ Astor offers a 360 view of Duluth and the greater lake superior area. Given its proximity to all the major hotels in the area, it is a great location to walk to if you are not already staying in the Radisson. I went there on my Anniversary and it was a lot of fun. Although the waiting staff didn't say anything about the occasion (even though i put it in my reservation), it was still a very special evening.
Great service, food, drinks and view, what else is there. Enjoyed!
Very enjoyable and a lovely view
We love this rotating restaurant with the 360 view of our beloved Duluth. It takes the restaurant one hour to completely rotate.
We made reservations for our wedding anniversary. I emailed ahead to ask if they had any vegan options. They said yes, but also asked for ideas, so I sent some ideas. The chef prepared a apricot balsamic something, something. It's included sautéed spinach, tomatoes and corn, grilled asparagus, grilled mushrooms and several other things that I can't remember.
My husband is a omnivore and ordered off the regular menu. We shared a bowl Sorbet with strawberries and blueberries for dessert.
