Welcome to JJ Astor (located on the 16th floor of the Radisson Hotel Duluth), where guests enjoy welcoming service, inspired décor, modern approachability, unparalleled views, and signature dishes.
We have created a contemporary menu utilizing sustainable produce from local farmers and fresh fish from local fishermen.

Whether settling into the oversized armchairs in the lounge, or admiring the view from the inviting sofa style banquettes, the restaurant provides a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike.

Authentic portraits, blueprints, and photography from Duluth’s past adorn the teak panels located throughout the restaurant. While the most stunning view is undoubtedly the view of Lake Superior, the interiors also paint a captivating picture of their own.

Terrible will not go back again. Each time it kept getting worse. Steak had to be sent back, ordered medium received rare. Child ordered $12 Clam Chowder soup (normally loves) waitress didn’t inform us it was broth based with fresh clams and for a 15yr that doesn’t wet the palate. We think she should of informed us of what to expect. Three of the four dishes the food was cold. Lady sitting at a table next to us was talking LOUD on her cell phone and it was very disruptive, no one said anything. Over all terrible. We will NOT go back again. PS went talked to the manager, who by the way asked us how our meal was, we informed him of the soup and meat situation he seemed bothered we were telling him. He seemed disinterested in what we had to say. Did take the soup cost off. Wow we saved $12, meal still cost us $165 plus tip.

You simply cannot beat the view! It is totally worth going to JJ Astor for the view alone! The service is hit and miss though. The gal who waited on us this past time did not smile, not even once. Didn't look like she was enjoying herself at all. We also had a small child with us and there was no offer of a high chair or anything else to help accommodate a small child. No children's menu either. I give the view a 10+! Everything else can definitely use some improvements.

The view is SPECTACULAR, and the circular dining area revolves at a slow pace so you can see ALL of Duluth over the course of about an hour. The drinks were original and imaginative and strong. Food was good but what I would describe as GREAT. Cost was roughly $200 per couple with drinks, dessert, coffee, tip, the whole nine. My biggest complaint was that we were not greeted promptly by the hosts, and so there was this jumble at the host stand which is also right in front of the elevator where you enter the restaurant. We were feeling a little claustrophobic standing there like that so we sat at the bar (also right next to the host stand and elevator) but no one waited on us, even though it wasnt busy or crowded. So for the first 5-10 minutes we were there, no one said hello, no one made eye contact, and we felt a little unloved. Eventually the manager came over, and seemed to tell the host to take care of us, (the host had found the time to take a phone call, still hadnt greeted me) and from there we were brought to a great table, had a great waiter and a good meal. just started out REALLY slow.

We went with our 5 kids for an anniversary brunch. The staff were very accommodating and the food was great! Our kids were entertained between the views and the coloring papers, so we were able to enjoy our meal quite easily.

Good food and prompt service. Spent a leisurely time with friends for a nice evening out. Steaks were done to the request and the appetizer was perfect.

We choose restaurant because of GF menus item on line. When got to restaurant it wasn’t offered. In fact no chicken dish was offered that was GF. Also did not have GF bread before dinner. My date was really disappointed

Location and atmosphere are lovely. Service was acceptable not exceptional. My husband was half way through with his steak before the steak sauce he requested arrived. Our water glasses were empty more often than not. Steaks were cooked properly but nothing out of the ordinary. Potato puree had nice flavor but was a bit runny. All in all, food was not up to what I was expecting. You can do better, for the same price, in both food and service, for a major anniversary dinner.

It was great food and service. The only part that wasn’t pleasant was that we couldn’t get on the only elevator that worked so we walked up 15 floors. Will go again just not on a weekend.

The food isn't quite as good as it has been, but still good. The portions were much too big and the food can be a little rich. Also, there is no mention of organic or locally sourced foods. I'm a salmon lover, and when I asked where their salmon was from, they said Chile, which is NOT a good thing (Google it).

The service, though, is terrific, and Jeremey makes your dining experience a really good one. And you sure can't beat the view from this revolving restaurant. See you next time - thanks!

Great overall experience despite Marisa, our waitress, being swamped due to inadequate staffing and no manager on site. She was hosting, serving, bartending and bussing. Seriously, she was great. We loved the vibe, the views, the food and will definitely visit again. Hopefully Marisa will have some help next time!

I'm under the impression I hit the place on a bad day. Thank God the wife liked her food, it was our first wedding anniversary. I mixed part of her chicken alfredo on top my pan seared walleye so I could eat it. It tasted like burnt butter. The waiter didn't want us there, he acted annoyed the whole time, never smiled, asked how we were doing, yep uh huh sure. Bothered me. Not what i expected when i planned to drop 2bills on a dinner and drinks. Slow on a Sunday nights. Although,There was only one other table with people there that was seated just 2-3 tables behind us. Everyone in 15 miles now knows how good his golf swing is, and he apparently didn't like us either he was making remarks about me and my wife meeting on tinder and were to young to be there. That's funny, he has no idea what I do for a living. So yeah, alot out of jj Astor hands. But I thought I'd be honest.

Overall everything was “meh”. If it wasn’t for the view and the overall appeal of sitting in the sky; this restaurant wouldn’t last. The food was pricey, but that’s to be expected, the only down side as the portion size for the price. I feel like they were trying to be fancy with Applebee’s quality food. Sadly, my appetizer was better then the entrée. The menu is small, again not an issue, but it’s very limited for people who don’t eat meat. Lastly we can talk drinks. Great selection, but when we came time to pay, the price of wine on our receipt was $10 more. I brought it to the attention of our waitress who quickly fixed it and let us know it happens often...

Good food, good service, and of course a spectacular panorama of Duluth: city, hills, lake, and harbor.
Parking was no problem, but we had to wait a long time for the elevator.

Fun revolving restaurant with good food that lets you get a 360° view of Duluth as you dine. We went as part of the Eat Downtown promotion and were very happy with the selections and quality. There are less expensive options, but it's in line with similar options in Duluth.

Went to dinner at JJ Astor's for our anniversary. We had a wonderful, relaxed time. Great drinks and starters--the scallops and the tempura shrimp are delectable. Scallops are the best I've ever had. We enjoyed the steak wntree and the stuffed meatloaf. Both were delicious. Lava cake was for dessert--which we shared. So rich and yummy! More than anything we enjoyed our server - Dawn. She was lovely--fun, knowledgeable, and attentive. We can't wait to come back for another special occasion.

I thought the food was grossly overpriced for the quality received. Two meals with one drink was $100 with tip, which might be fine down in the cities (for a good meal), but is extremely pricey in Duluth. Moreover, while the food was o.k. at best, it was o.k. at best. For $100 for two you'd expect the food to be much better. It was entree, vegetable, potato, or past entree. A salad to go with it started at $8.00. I've had far better steaks at restaurants in the Twin Ports for half the price or less. About all you're getting for your money is the view when your side of the dining room is facing the harbor. I'll never return.

Our beverages and meals were excellent. We had a wonderful server. Great conversation. Paid close attention and her timing was perfect. So ... with that, the main reason we chose JJ Astor was nicely rewarded.

But ...

Low spot ... the "greeter." Upon arrival, rather than "Welcome," "Glad You could Join us" ... or "How can we make your evening special?" her ONLY words were "Do you HAVE a reservation?" with an additional grumble while leading us to our table. Granted, it was New Years Eve, but this was early in the evening. I would have hated to observe what others endured later.

Oh ... and both sinks were plugged in the women's washroom. When mentioned, we were merely responded to with "Oh yeah ... the hotel manager already knows."

Believing that the low spots were rare exceptions, we would still recommend JJ Astor.
Beautiful setting. Great food and beverages. Nice wait staff. I believe that management will quickly correct the glitches. You WILL enjoy your visit!

Food & White Russians used to be excellent. Meatloaf was horrible. Drinks were watered-down and served in the wrong type of class. Kids were running around everywhere, ruining the ambiance. You used to have a great chef. What happened? The server we've had before. She seemed sheepish this time...or maybe I was feeling sheepish for her.

The next survey box is titled "Your reviews nickname." You might want to add an apostrophe in the word "reviews." Sorry to be such a downer.
