Not impressed. Small, cute portions, not flavorful at all. Not what to expect for good to excellent Greek food. Pricey.
Dinner was lovely.....service was VERY SLOW...after 45 minutes, we still didn't have our drinks...then someone came over and explained 2 people had called out sick tonight....the manager came by and comped the first round of drinks which was a great gesture...food was great..
Server was slow to get to us. Music was loud and awful. Food (Tasmanian Trout) was superb.
Excellent place. Not cheap, but worth it. Generous portions excellently prepared. Really enjoyed the mixed olive (essentially a tapenade) starter. The "traditional" Greek salad was very good, but really enough for two. But I ate it all. Very nice ambience. Our server Ryan is a standout.
Capped off a week of hiking in Eastern Sierra with our anniversary dinner at Jimmy’s Taverna. Our third time eating here, which is noteworthy as we live in SF Bay Area. Excellent Greek food, service, wines by glass. The dips with pita are a must, as is the spanakopita. Terrific salads, nice entrees if you’re still hungry, and of course, the baklava....
Great service and friendly staff. Everything stared out well with a tasteful wine and starters (dipping sauce and pita bread).
When the food comes in though everything changed. At the price point Jimmy’s charge you don’t expect the risotto to be over cooked or the tomato-spinach ragout to be over cooked and completely taste less. The lamb meat was ok but that was about it.
Won’t go back here since there are better option at the same price ranger or lower, much lower.
Excellent food and wine list. Sommelier was very helpful!
This is our go to place every time we visit Mammoth. The food is exceptional and so is the service. Always an amazing dining experience for us!!
What a surprise to stop in at this place on our drive through Mammoth. Delicious dips. Good service. Nice selection of items. The dips and appetizers were Greek, but the rest of the menu, except for the Moussaka was eclectic. We will be back on our next drive to Tahoe!
The service was excellent and the food was overall good. The goat cheese cheesecake was rich, dense and delicious.
Dined with family - it was really nice!
Excellent everything- food, wine, service!
The food was good but the value wasn't there for the price. The bill (including tax & tip) for one salad, 4 entrees and 4 beers was $245! Our waiter delivered the wrong entree for one of four diners and then replaced it with what was originally ordered. However, when the bill came the wrong - and more expensive entree - was still on the bill. This was after a few other misses in service and communication so we just wanted to be done with the evening there. Because of the food prices and marginal service I wouldn't go back to this restaurant. My recommendations to others would actually be a 'maybe' and definitely with a caution to be prepared for an expensive meal.
I had the immense pleasure and honor of celebrating my birthday here. We drove 6 hours from the Bay Area to stay in Mammoth Lakes for the weekend. After a long day of hiking we almost cancelled this reservation but were SO grateful we decided to stay.
The host, Chip, and our server were incredibly thoughtful and sweet. Chip even took us to his private wine cellar to pick out our bottle of wine for the evening. The food was deliciously prepared, the service was impeccable, and the ambience was perfect.
Truly an unforgettable birthday experience and I am near moved to tears by the professionalism, positivity, and thoughtfulness that was put into our experience here.
Would 100% come back again for another meal. Thank you for the best birthday ever. The scallops, perfectly cooked steaks, INCREDIBLE paired wine, dips, and everything in between was spectacular ❤️
Excellent food, wine, and service! The owner, Jimmy greets everybody and makes sure your experience is the way you’d like it. He makes you feel like a member of the family. Our favorite restaurant in Mammoth!!
Tutto molto piacevole . Una bella sorpresa
Cibo ben cucinato splendida bistecca
Il cameriere Rayan simpaticissimo e professionale
Everything was extraordinary!!!! Service was PERFECT - every single member of the team!! Food DELICIOUS - every single course!!! EXCELLENT!!!!
Very nice evening! The service was excellent and the food very good!
Mediocre Greek restaurant in the older part of Mammoth. Menu was very limited. It was extremely warm in the restaurant due to a air conditioner malfunction.
Waiter was wonderful but the entree was overpriced for the small portions and there was a very loud party that made it impossible to hear each other.
Nice place. Great service. Good food. Loved the menu For some reason room temp was very hot but not hot outside Little bit overpriced.
Thank you for the early seating! Eric and Chip sure know their wine! We were having such a good time that we didn't feel the 7.1 earthquake. This was our third dining experience and it is now at the top of our list, especially Wine Wednesday where bottles from all over the world (and delicious) are half price. A very unique dining experience with staff, whether on a slow night or a busy 4th of July holiday. A "not to miss" restaurant in the heart of Old Mammoth!
Gorgeous space that makes you feel you are in Greece. We ordered family style and had the sampler (the homemade triangles of pita were warm and tasty and so were the olive, hummus, baba ganoush dips). The grilled octopus was one of our favorites, the rack of lamb was flavorful, and seared scallops were perfect. Good and friendly service, wonderful ambiance, and reasonable prices. Would gladly return!
The sommelier Chip went above and beyond—coming in on his day off to ensure that my sister has a magical birthday with the best wine! Would absolutely recommend!!
Great dining experience.
Ryan our server was excellent and made our dinner all the more enjoyable. The Loup de Mer was outstanding as was the Mousaka. The menu selection is a great alternative to many other restaurants that offer mostly heavy meat.
Service very friendly and the food was excellent, had a good time and enjoyed the dinner
Everything was excellent. Jimmys certainly iced up to its reputation.
The place has an amazing ambience. The food is very good, mediterranean which we love.
I would recommend stick with appetizers and dips for a real greek flavor.
Outstanding service, food was wonderful, price point worth the visit and the wine selection was outstanding
Enjoyed the atmosphere and food for the most part. Only problem was they might have been a little understaffed so service was spotty.
Our main courses were barely warm from probably sitting for awhile but they all tasted pretty good so we didn't want to complain and have to wait again.
Sommelier was excellent though.
I would still recommend this place for a nice night out.
Amazing fresh food, really friendly and accommodating staff, and great ambiance! The sommelier was also very receptive to what we wanted to drink- we have a brief description of what wines we like and he promptly brought out the perfect bottle as well as continued to check in on us throughout the meal.
We visited Jimmys while we were travelling in the USA from Australia. The food was fair although my scallops were over cooked and tough. We started with a trio of dips with pita bread which were delicious. My husband had a T-bone steak which was huge, he enjoyed his meal. For American standards it was very on pa for the meals we experienced. As far as Australian standards go it was underwhelming and very expensive.
Like being transported to the Mediterranean
Excellent food and service
Nice place and service is good. I know it is a ski location but most mountains have such good dining options. The $40 steak was 1/4 inch thick and they used tiny shrimp and salmon in the cioppino.
great restaurant, food delicious, staff very attentive & accommodating. great Sommolier
I really wanted to like Jimmy's but unfortunately, there were too many negatives. 1. NO KIDS MENU - and not a menu that most kids will eat from. They begrudgingly let us order from the "bar" menu (note the bar is right there in the main restaurant) which has "gyors" (sort of) - so the kids ordered those - $27 meat in pita gryos - not kidding . . . . super overpriced. the main menu was expensive too and not what one would expect from "Greek" - greek salad has no lettuce (apparently that is true Greek??). Adding automatic gratuity of 20% ON TOP OF TAX - so wrong . . so so wrong, Jimmy's!!! No wonder the servie was not that great - they include a 20% gratuity on very high priced food. What we had was good - the moousaka was not typical .. . . it was fine - not great. chicken was good - we did not have the fish but I bet it was good. Just over priced, adding gratuity, and having no options for kids give his a "we won't be back" and we go to Mammoth a LOT. Disappointed b/c I was very hopeful. Adults only who want steak or seafood? This may be a good choice for you. Saganaki was very good.
One waiter must been having a bad day. When we asked for some share plates and was clearing our appetizer plates, he muttered on the side of his mouth with a negative tone “oh god really!” But before that when I was walking up the stairs from the restroom he ran quickly past me and said with an abrupt voice “I’m going to get right by you!” All he did after that was tell a couple that he would seat get their table for them in a minute and slowly went to go do something else. So I’m not sure why he was such in a hurry up the stairs. It just left an uncomfortable unpleasant vibe that night.
Wonderful and comprehensive wine list at fair prices, terrific staff, and a lovely room. Food is nicely done and pleasantly served. Great selection of Greek favorites, and a nice blend of traditional food. Easy to find, lots of adjacent parking, reservations are honored, and portions are large. A lot to recommend here.
Liked the food but didn’t like the tipping policy. Overall the food was good. Sampler appetizer was very good. And we enjoyed the moussaka. Wait staff was good also. However, we were a party of 6 and so the bill came with a gratuity of 22% . That 22% was on the food, the wine and the tax. And I dont recall seeing any mention of that...oh well. Resort town rules
