Jimmy's An American Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Visiting Aspen for the first time only for a short weekend I wanted to make the best of my experience and indulge on everything Aspen had to offer. My raft guide, a local to the area, told me about Jimmy's and Jimmy's Bodega when I had asked for recommendations saying that it was a local favorite for the best craft cocktail and steak around town. Needless to say, my experience at Jimmy's was phenomenal. We were lucky enough to get a patio seat right around dusk with what I could only imagine being one of the best restaurant views in Aspen. The waitress was very kind and attentive and made us feel right at home offering her favorites on the menu and was able to help find the perfect steak for our appetite. She sold me on the Ribeye. It was outstanding! Perfectly cooked and plated beautifully, not to mention Jimmy's wine director made a personal visit to the table and paired a beautiful wine for the steaks we ordered. Hands down one of the better dining experiences I've had in some years. I would highly recommend visiting Jimmy's if you can manage to get a reservation. It's not hard to see why this restaurant thrives in Aspen. I will most certainly visit again next time I'm in town.
We had the best time at Jimmy's on our vacation in Aspen! The cocktails were incredible - creative and the ice was amazing - crystal clear giant ice cubes. My drink with the japanese whisky and madeira was so unexpected and delicious. We had the halibut and the rib eye cap - yum! And the wine list was great - when we were there, they were doing a promotion with a glass of wine matched to a region on the Tour de France. Will definitely be back on our next trip!
Jimmy's is celebrating it's 20th year and it's easy to see why it's been around so long. We've been coming here for forever and it's always consistent quality - great steaks, the best crab cakes and I am always impressed by how knowledgable the staff is. Great spot, we'll keep coming for the next 20 years!
1) When they called to confirm we were coming to the reservation we was assured we would get a window seat, but we did not get one.
2) We were barely spoken to during our whole dinner experience.
3) We got an eye roll when we requested a wine list on paper vs. on an iPad.
4) Watched a whole dinner plate dumped onto the table next to us
Overall we did not feel welcome. For the $$$$ we spent we expected more. We were hoping to impress our out-of- town guests, but needless to say they were not impressed & neither were we. Not going back.
I made this reservation months ago. I confirmed it when they called and when we got there they seated us in a table by the entrance to the kitchen. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were out of the restaurant by 8:15. I have never been so rushed in my life. They wanted us in and out so they could have the table. It was terrible. Food was fine but it didn't matter. I felt like I was doing in a fast food restaurant for an obscene amount of money. It was my first time in Aspen and my last time at Jimmy's
We found this restaurant when we were exploring the town and went in for drinks. We liked the atmosphere and drinks so much that we made dinner reservations for the following night. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant--dinner and drinks are great!
Jimmy's was amazingggg! The food was fantastic! The spinach crab dip is to die for! I wasn't impressed when the waiter said we had to pay 20% in gratuity to get our check split between four people. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous and stated no where prior to service.
Biggest complaint was the table we (my mom and I) were seated at was nestled between a lot of tables and everyone had to walk around us. There were many other tables that were not filled, and with a reservation, we were hoping to have a nicer table. Not sure if host(esse)s look at 2 women and try to give them a bad table.
The food was very good. We had the tuna lettuce wraps which were light and fantastic - comes with 4.
Both of our dinners were tasty and I think we would go back if we were ever in the area again.
Went to Jimmy's for our fourteenth wedding anniversary before going to a show @The Teller. Larry our waiter was excellent and attentive and gave us great info on meat flavors and cuts. Our dessert was comp'd for our anniversary and everyone there was very friendly and went out of their way for us! Will definitely go again when we are in the Aspen area!
Very under par per our expectations. Very small, limited, overpriced (even for fine restaurant standards) wine list. I ordered the green beans, they were simply cooked in water - Zero flavor. My crab cake was ok, but tasted a little fishy, not like crab. Very disappointed for supposedly one of Aspen's finer restaurants.
With a party of 7 you'd think someone would have liked their appetizer and dinner....... Sad to say that no one did. Almost all had the same complaint that their food was oily... Not with a nice olive oil, but with just oil. Sweet potatoes had funky taste, salad with chicken was dry... I could go on, but with all of the excellent places to dine in Aspen trust me spend your time and money somewhere else.
Outstanding service, the food was delicious and the wine list was first class! Loved our entire serving team. Had TheBest server, super fun and had a great personality and the Sommelier is well versed, extremely knowledgable and down right luxury service. Thank you!!!!!
last year there was an amazing pork chop on the menu but not any more, disappointing. the filet mignon was as good as I remembered.
only minus was asking to move tables from a high traffic area, only to be seated adjacent to a very large party (rehearsal dinner?) in a nearly empty dining room. not sure if it was more convenient for the servers, but it felt like we were at the kids' table at Thanksgiving.
