Excellent service with very fun and personable staff! Eric was welcoming and very engaging! So many excellent options and never have been disappointed with our selections from the menu! Have been many times and will continue to choose Jimmy V’s as our special occasion dining location!
Jimmy V's is a special place for our family and it never disappoints. The owners are very warm and hospitable and the food is delicious. Love the atmosphere and the leisurely pace of the meal.
It was great. Highly recommend
Anniversary dinner as stated in our reservation
Placed at a nice table for two which quickly was joined by a table of 8 then another. Became quite loud rather quickly.
Serving of bread consisted of grilled Texas Toast (from nearby grocery store?). Salad and appetizers were good and good portion (family-style).
Fifty dollar steak was ordered medium but over-cooked. Not very tender or flavorful. Was asked if I wanted to return it. Really was ready to leave. Ate half the steak, got the rest to go. Complementary dessert was decent, but obviously had been prepared ahead and removed from the refrigerator. The cake itself was not fresh
We are regulars at Jimmy V's and it never disappoints. I'm surprised when I see a less than stellar review--I would urge everyone that didn't have the best to give it a second chance. The service is always professional and friendly; the food is delicious; the atmosphere is nice for a couple or a table full. Jimmy V's is truly a hidden gem and worth seeking out.
Jimmy V's remains high on my Raleigh list. Can't think of better. Food is fantastic. People are great. Easy to get to no hassles.
Go to Jimmy V's....
We’ve been coming here for over 20 years. Most consistently great steaks in Wake county. Service is good. The bartender (female Asian) who I think is also the manager is not a good mixologist. She runs a tight ship as a manager, but should not be behind the bar. We have had an issue the past 3 times we have visited. We will continue to come for the food and service, but we will limit our beverage selection to beer and wine.
Menu seems diluted vs what they have had in the past. Bone in filets, escargot, etc no longer on menu...big miss. Menu no longer seems elegant but rather simple. Should go back to menu they have had
Very disappointed. Service VERY SLOW. Food was so so. Not what we had expected. We were not asked if we wanted drink refills or dessert. We were glad when the meal was over. Very unfortunate experience.
The dinner was just ok. My lamb was overcooked and the broccoli was soggy. My husband had a steak and a baked potato. He said was pretty good but not worth the price. Our server was attentive . I feel as though for the price we paid, we could have gone to any generic restaurant and fed 4 or 5 people.
The food at Jimmy B's continues to be outstanding. The steak was excellent quality and perfectly cooked. Excellent potato (huge so can be split) and we had the Jimmy V's salad. We also had a couple of scallops and shrimp for an appetizer. Delicious food and wonderful service!
Great food and service. A little loud for my taste. We were at a center table with a boisterous party next to us. But overall a good experience.
My husband's scallops were almost too salty to eat. My pasta, which was supposed to have been made in-house, was thick, tough and still slightly cold. We felt very rushed. We had planned a leisurely dinner with drinks and food, but this was obviously the wrong choice for our night out.
Great food made fresh with fresh ingredients, and aged beef. Great wait staff that is friendly, attentive and engaging with conversation if you want. Special occasions are their strength, since it can be expensive. They do have reasonably priced entrees, if you shy away from the cowboy steak. Food is served hot on warm dishes, and the salads are served chilled on cold plates to keep the salad crisp and fresh. A great experience anytime.
Unfortunately and for the second time in less than a month, the steak I ordered medium rare was cold and raw in the middle. This wasn't a tough steak to cook -- it was the standard ribeye. I have no idea what's happening in the kitchen, but something has gone seriously wrong.
Sorry to say, but I'll be steering my business elsewhere.
We both had fish and a glass of wine. With dessert and tip it was over $100. Could have done better elsewhere for much less, especially with the mediocre garlic bread that we were offered that just wasn't appetite-pleasing to start.
The steaks are always great. Never disappointed. I can’t seem to break away from the ribeye. The crab dip appetizer was excellent. We were there last for New Year’s Eve. The menu was reduced, limited that night, but had what I wanted.
Potatoes were served cold. Salmon was over cooked. Nick was an excellent server.
Consistently our favorite restaurant. Great steaks, great seafood. My first choice when I want a great meal.
Was thrilled they were open on Christmas for dinner. The food was amazing! I hope they decide to open next Christmas...we will be back!
Excellent. Despite the fact that most of the restaurant was full of larger seasonal parties we were served quickly. Food was outstanding.
Just love Jimmy V’s. The melt in your mouth steaks are the best. The service we received from our server Will was wonderful. Thank you for a lovely meal.
Month of December gets crazy with parties and such but this took too long, 7:00pm reservation, food did not arrive until 9:00pm. Love going here but will avoid during holiday season. I'll go back because steaks are very good but not in December.
We were in town to celebrate my son's birthday and a friend of his recommended Jimmy V's and also recommended the Prawns as an appetizer. He was spot on -- the Prawns were huge and delicious. Our waiter was Eric and he went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was top notch.
Didn’t love our visit. Music was terrible, old 80s elevator style. Drinks weren’t great. Steak was good. Sides were good. Felt like wedding reception food. Service very slow. Sorry! :(
Jimmy V's never disappoints. The staff is wonderful and the food is nothing short of perfection. Wine selection perfect with great support making a selection.
Truly a great evening in every way.
Was extremely surprised by this hidden jem. The food was amazing, the portions where perfect. I can't wait to go back.
Eric, our waiter was awesome and the food was delicious, thanks for the free dessert for our anniversary
The night started out with the waiter dumping water on the table and my lap. That turned out to be the hilight of the evening. My wife ordered a filet, and the waiter raved so much about the prime rib being the best he has ever eaten, that I ordered it. The filet came cooked to perfection, but microscopic. It was much closer to a four ounce than the six ounce advertised. The prime rib came with the rib cap removed - the finest tasting portion of the rib, gone. That made it into a cheap rib-eye for the cost of a prime rib. Further, it was ordered medium rare, but the piece that arrived was the dried out end cut, carefully positioned with the end side down. Right after serving us, the waiter was pulled to set up for a banquet in the other room, leaving us without a waiter. In all, it was a very disappointing end to an otherwise wonderful anniversary.
We frequent Jimmy V's for the great setting, food & service. We have never been disappointed and always enjoy the attentive personal service provided.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Jimmy V's. Nic, our waiter, was exceptional and attentive. The entrees....swordfish and steak frittes were prepared and cooked perfectly. Presentation was classic. The Jordan wine paired perfectly as well and Nic had his service timing down to the proper level of attention and dining knowledge. Bravo!
Thank you to the chef - outstanding meal! Our server Eric was so sweet!
The service as well as the food in this restaurant is wonderful though the food is a bit on the pricey side. My husband wanted to order a surf and turf...6oz. filet and a 12oz lobster tail....was told the market price for the lobster alone was $75. He opted for the larger filet. Needless to say we only go to this restaurant on special occasions
Awesome meal as always! We head over to Jimmy V's every chance we get to escape the day to day hustle. Thanks for offering a consistently great experience.
We came to Jimmy V's to celebrate our anniversary and to have a special meal. My wife said afterwards that Mike (our server) was very attentive but not to the point that he was intrusive. And she had a small bottle of wine which she was very happy with. The food was very good and tasty. (small filet and prime rib) We will try to return for other special occasions. Thanks.
Completely under or over cooked 3 of our 4 steaks.
Service and Atmosphere was excellent and even spojke with the owner as he was in house.
Food was outstanding, Steaks were seasoned and prepared nicely. Quality of the Porterhouse and New York wasn't what we expected.
Came from CA to visit my sister and found this restaurant on line. Special occasion was her birthday, I hadn't seen her in 15 years and I'd never been to No Carolina. The only thing great about the place is the ad about why the restaurant has it's name. The menu says everything is cooked only in peanut oil. Who does that especially with food allergies? The pasta's are seasoned heavy with pepper. The bill was $95 for 3 people and the only alchol consumed was 2 beers. Usually this amount would not be a problem but in this case the entire night was a problem. Next day we found a BJ's a sports bar which is so much better.
