Jimmy V's Steakhouse and Tavern
The food was extremely under seasoned and bland, it was also cooked incorrectly. The waiter kept forgetting parts of our meal that was supposed to accompany it. After he brought our entrées he said “this should complete your order” which I found very strange.
There was a little hiccup at the beginning with the host having to help turn tables. It took us about 25 minutes to be seated (we had a reservation, but it was Valentines Day so they were quite busy). After that, the service was phenomenal, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was romantic. Perfect evening overall. I would go back.
Awesome! We will definitely be visiting again!
Crab Dip was outstanding
The NY Strip was the best I've ever had. Medium Well was juicy & succulent. Even the humble baked potato was amazing with a crispy skin but not overdone. Always a five star meal!
We have loved Jimmy Vs in the past, but the food and experience were not what we hoped.
Quick and easy check in, Mike was great sever and food was great !
The roast beef was excellent. The service was competent and timely
The best steakhouse hands down in the Raleigh area.
Outstanding meal and experience. Would highly recommend Jimmy V's for your next meal!
Steak and scallop entrees were good. Broccoli soup was a little salty, and I prefer the broccoli to be a little more coarse. Otherwise good food and great service!
The food and the service were outstanding. If asked to describe a perfect restaurant this would be it. This is a special place for special occasions.
We arrived early, checked in with the host, and proceeded to the bar...We waited until 15 minutes after our reservation time to ask when we would be seated...That is after we had to search for the host. The host was not attentive to the people coming in the restaurant nor with follow up. Some food was cold, some was over cooked (not as requested)...You would think a high end streak restaurant with cooking descriptions (definitions) on their menu would know how to cook a steak as requested. Short story is as follows...Host was not good; and only two of five menu items were as expected.
Came in for Christmas Dinner - overall the food was excellent- the only disappointment was no Prime Rib. The waitress explained that it was only on the weekends - a point not disclosed in the website and what we were looking forward too as a traditional Christmas Dinner.
I think it must've been an off night because they're usually 5 stars all the way for me. That night, the potatoes weren't hot, my water glass was empty more times than I can remember, it just took a long time to get anyones attention for anything.
Got there a little bit early and our party was seated immediately. Our server, Savanna was great. She was very helpful in describing the specials and answered all our questions. Overall, our dining experience was great! Would highly recommend!!
Excellent evening at Jimmy V's. Loved everything about it. Despite full house, service was fine and food was on time and excellent. We will absolutely return. THANKS!!
I expected much more from the food, especially given the prices and it being a steak house.
The 'colossal' scallops were not that big and the orso was cold.
The summer salad should have the strawberries skipped if they aren't 100% fresh. Otherwise that was pretty good.
The bread was great and the steaks were pretty good.
The service is 100% top notch though. Good people working there. Very attentive, nice and friendly.
Step it up JimmyV's. You can do better.
It was a wonderful evening with friends and family!
What a lovely Thanksgiving dinner!! Can't wait for Peak on Salem to open and try it!!
Attentive service. Succulent she crab soup and extensive wine list, but prime rib could have been more tender. Asparagus was overcooked. Decor is a bit outdated.
There are definitely better options in the area. This place seems to live on their history, but there was nothing that stood out as exceptional to me. I have had better steaks, better sides, and better drinks at other steak houses in the area. I suppose if you live close, and are a baby boomer, this place may be an OK option, but I would rather drive to Raleigh.
Great venue for my father’s 80th birthday. Would definitely recommend
The food was very good. The service was very slow. We got hit with an unexpected surprise when the bill arrived and our Manhattans with Blanton’s bourbon (our favorite and the brand we stock in our home bar) were $45 each. Did not see that coming since the alcohol listing did not have prices or groupings of low, medium, high prices. Should have asked before ordering. I would have just ordered wine!
Very expensive for an average steak house.
First time at Jimmy V's for dinner. I have been to the bar a few times. Our waitress was accommodating and attentive. The food was exceptional, we had escargots and calamari as appetizers, and as a party of 6, dinner spanned from a large wedge to chicken parm, fish and steak. Everything was delicious, and all had a great time.
I was highly anticipating my visit for my anniversary. We had a party of ten. I ordered and received the wrong plate. Somehow they crossed my order with someone else. Unfortunately I had to wait to get my food while everyone else was eating theirs. Also another guest in my party had to return his order twice because it wasn’t cooked properly. Being it was my anniversary I was hoping to have a great experience but that wasn’t the case. Management never asked or tried to make up for it at all.
We went for our Anniversary & they did not disappoint! One of the best steak restaurants around. The food was delicious & perfectly cooked. Staff was very friendly and the service was great.
We love Jimmy V’s. That is why we keep going back several times a year!
Not up to their usual standards. Service was great; food was meh and it was nearly empty at 7pm on a Friday. Quality has been steadily going down hill.
Steaks were fantastic, appetizers were great , waiter was the best. The bartender for lack of a better term SUX! This is like the 3rd time I’ve been in when she’s talking away , on her phone texting or talking , or botching about the manager., All the while ignoring customers. Everything else was outstanding!
Great time celebrating my Dad’s birthday. Always delicious and a great experience.
We were excited to try a new restaurant. However, when we arrived, they told us they were operating on generator power. No problem. We sat at the bar for over an hour and never got a table. Other people who arrived after us got a table. We had to ask to be served drinks. One of our drinks was not made properly but they still charged us $10. Other people left after not getting a table while we were there. They didn't seem to care that we left. No apologies. Nothing. It very much reminded us of that Seinfeld episode where they go the a restaurant but never get a table. "Seinfeld, 4!!" If you want to relive that magic, go to this restaurant. We will NOT be back.
Slightly disappointed that the server forgot to bring horseradish as requested and had to be reminded. My prime rib was getting cold so I began eating. I had already eaten about a third when the horseradish arrived.
Had a great dinner I love cooking a great steak for myself but was awesome to be experience the Bone-In Ribeye! Service was amazing and the staff was very welcoming, we showed up earlier than our reservation and they were accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic dinner with their significant other or a celebration for friends or family.
Awesome staff and food I would recommend to anyone
We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my wife at Jimmy V' Steakhouse.
Excellent food and good atmosphere
We are going back there again!!!!!
The steak was very good, the shrimp was average as were the escargot as an appetizer. For a steakhouse pricing out this high, the atmosphere of the restaurant was not great. The carpeting felt worn and musty. Wood flooring and an overall update would really help. I loved the music station - classic rock - but again, its a pricy steakhouse. Not what you get in NYC in the price range, while I enjoyed the music it cheapened the place. We sat at a table for two near a wall. I never told my wife or the waitress (who was exceptional - service was outstanding) about the large cricket that I killed crawling up my leg as I sliced my steak. I kept my cool, reached down and killed as not to upset my wife who was thoroughly enjoying her steak because she would have ran out the door had I mentioned it, then excused myself to wash up. These things happen in food establishments and musty places. I think the steak was great, overpriced overall, but I just wouldn't go back again primarily due to the overall dated atmosphere, etc.
