Jimmy Kelly's Restaurant
Book your next event with us
The restaurant and staff provide a welcoming place for a quiet and enjoyable evening dinner. We were seated soon after arriving and welcomed by the greater and evening manager which made us comfortable being there. The dinner filets were cooked exactly as requested. The Caesar salads and steamed vegetables were tasty too. The twice baked potatoes were a disappointment in that they were served were warm but not hot like the rest of the meal. We go to Jimmy Kelly’s for special events and will return.
It was my wife’s birthday and could not have found a better place to go. Our waiter was King Arthur great waiter very funny. The food was the best by far. Can’t wait to go back.
Everthing was great! The only negative was that is was quite warm upstairs.
We sat in the booth/table in the bar just as you walk into the bar,was ok if it was just a casual date night but my folks brought us out & was hoping for a more private/dining room experience I stated it was for my boyfriends birthday on our reservation but it wasn’t ever acknowledged. Heavy traffic in the area with the servers in/out & people waiting on their table.
The write up on Open Table does not mirror our experience. I get that this place is old but it shouldn’t feel dirty. The floors were sticky, the carpet tired and worn, the bathrooms looked like the last remodel was 1945. Our toothless waiter did not instill a high end feel along with the t-shirt clad bus boys. Twenty minutes between our salad and entree. They have shoved so many tables together the waiters can’t pass each other and you feel like you’re dining with your neighbors. Salads were drowning in dressing. Steak wasn’t cooked as ordered. Coffee was cold. Seriously not impressed. And the portraits on the walls feel like you’ve entered a horror movie. This place could be cool with a serious remodel, trade in the dirty waiter lab coats for sports coats, and remove a few tables and put a fire under the kitchen staff. This place does not deserve its premium price. Too many other steak house options in Nashville with modern, clean facilities with far superior food and service. And give people a menu when they are seated. Hunting around for them is just bizarre and a strange business model. Print more dang menus.
The kitchen was slower than usual. Food was very good. Marcus, our server, is the best! It was the birthday of my 93 year old Dad and Marcus made him feel special. He is patient and attentive and does the little extras.
Our food was delicious! The best steak in town! My wife said the best salmon she has ever had! But our waiter although efficient and good at his job needed an quick lesson on small talk. The manager was superb and very friendly. Overall a great experience!! We will be back!
Been excellent place for business - family or no reason - just great spot to have terrific meal
All the staff is fantastic and food is best in town or anywhere
I wasn't aware this restaurant existed, until a few days ago. It is AMAZING!!! Great food, service, and atmosphere. Will absolutely be back.
Food, service, staff..all are the very best!! Wonderful atmosphere..highly recommend!!
Fine dining is something to be savored. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. If you are lucky, you might get Robert as a waiter. He is very personable as well as, knowledgeable. Never had better steak and ambience. Filet was most flavorful and tender ever! Want to impress someone. This is the place!
Lobster was over cooked and steak was undercooked. Service was great and loved the atmosphere but way too expensive for the quality of the food.
It was a great evening with friends and kids being dropped at college!
Anniversary date. Wonderful food and excellent service.
Excellent personal service from Claude. An entertaining guy.
I had booked a reservation at a top restaurant in Downtown Nashville to celebrate our anniversary since we were spending the weekend downtown. A friend of mine from Nashville recommended we visit Jimmy Kelly's to get away from the tourist rush. What a perfect suggestion as all our other downtown meals seemed to be a push even with reservations. $10.00 LYFT rides out and in and we were able to have a truly memorable evening. Jimmy Kelly's is a Nashville institution established in an old home. Downtown Nashville can be fun, but if you want a special dinner with your lady, visit Jimmy Kelly's!
The food was great-we love going there. Our server was great -his goal was to have us enjoy and he accomplished that!
Love this restaurant! Consistently great food and service. An Old Nashville favorite
This was our first time there and it was a wonderful experience. We loved how quiet it was and our server made it an evening to remember. The food was made to perfection. We loved everything from the sincere greeting we received when we got out of the car, to the thank yous when we left and everything in between. Outstanding dining experience!!!
First time at Jimmy Kelly’s. Thought it was wonderful. We had a great meal with great service in a great setting. The corn cakes with butter were a pleasant surprise. Everything tasted fantastic and was prepared perfectly.
Both Menues stained.
Waiter chef coat dirty.
Steak sent back not cooked as requested.
As usual, Jimmy Kelly’s and Arthur were awesome. It never disappoints and we will keep coming back. Thank you Arthur for another awesome dinner at Jimmy Kelly’s, since 1934.
Taking our son and his girlfriend out because he just graduated law school and took the exam
Very nice ambiance, service and food. A little noisy is my only complaint. Thanks for creating a great dinner for my family.
Celebrating our 37th Anniversary. We love Dinning at Jimmy Kelly's. Everyone is Always so happy to make your experience enjoyable. Excellent Service and Wonderful Food.
Been here a half a dozen times or so over the years. Great atmosphere and service but the food doesn’t always align with the $$$$. Steak was pretty good. Crab cakes were all breading and were so fried it took a steak knife to cut through it. Upgraded my salad from house to wedge and that was disappointing. Plain sliver of iceberg. No bacon, no tomato or blue cheese. For dropping $200 on a meal for two, you just expect perfection.
Love the restaurant and its history and character! The food was excellent and so was the service. Our table was great. It is definitely a place to celebrate special occasions!!!
Had a wonderful time for my birthday. Our waiter Arthur was very attentive and funny. We enjoyed him tremendously. The drinks were made well and worth the cost. Steaks were cooked perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was the asparagus, they were huge and not very flavorful.
Very good.....will alway enjoy dinner at Jimmy Kelly. Thanks for good nit
Great family dinner out at an iconic Nashville steakhouse.
The atmosphere was amazing, the staff from the waiter to the management all making sure you’re experience was the best that could be offered. We come in on birthdays, anniversary’s and for all special occasions because we know that we will have the best food and time that you can . Thank you to Jeff our waiter and Mike the manager for taking time to talk to us and making my birthday a special one. Looking forward to the next time.
We have been there a few times over the years, always been pleased. But this was our Anniversary dinner and everything was as good as we could have asked for. Starting with the service, from the time we checked in until we left, top notch service from everyone. The food was unbelievable, might have been the best filet I’ve ever had. Fresh coffee, delicious desert. Jimmy Kelly’s never disappoints !!!!
The service was excellent! The filet’s were very chewy and had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor. We had to salt and pepper every bite. I have never had to season my steak. They were so chewy both my husband and I had to stop. Our jaws were tired.
The salad, although a pretty presentation was very messy any difficult to cut up without getting it all over the table. It was served as whole flat leaves on small salad plate and the homemade blue cheese dressing had no flavor. The baked potato was fine.
We are not salt eaters so it was pretty bad that we had to cover our food to get flavor. Honestly I have never been so disappointed in a meal in an upscale restaurant. We will not return.
Wonderful food and service! You can never go wrong at Jimmy Kelly’s!
This was a college send off dinner for my son. The food was absolutely perfect. Every dish was cooked as requested.
My meal was good but it wasn't anything special. Nothing really wowed me. They say they are the top steakhouse in Nashville, I sure hope they are wrong because I'm looking for something better.
Love it, loved it, in love with it!! It was our first visit!!
Awesome food,service and experience.
We were celebrating our daughters graduate school graduation with our entire family. The food was very average and the service was really lacking. Our waiter had way too many tables and did not have time to refill our drinks and check on us.
We chose Jimmy Kelly's based on OpenTable reviews, but unfortunately we were very disappointed.
The old world ambiance is quite nice and harkens to a time when whiskey and steak were in vogue. We were not offered whiskey, however. The server was quick to our table and the offered bread was very good. Unfortunately things went down hill.
It actually started when we arrived. In spite of a reservation, we were asked to wait for our table, which took about 10 minutes. When we ordered our main dishes, we ordered a wine refill, which took another 15 minutes and finally came when we asked again.
The complimentary salad was just OK and the lettuce leaves were large and required cutting. Unfortunately, the server had taken our butter knives which left us with steak knives to cut our salads. When the salads were taken away, my steak knife went also, requiring my wife and I to share a knife for the main courses.
The main courses included a baked potato, which came in spite of my wife stating she did not want a potato. They came wrapped in aluminum foil, requiring the customer to unwrap it. The butter had already been taken away. Very crudely presented.
We shared the bacon wrapped bar-b-que shrimp appetizer. The bacon was under cooked and the shrimps over cooked.
The special bacon wrapped filet was over cooked and had too much liquid blue cheese filling, which certainly led to being over cooked. The sea bass was very poor, tasting more like stuffed flounder from an inexpensive chain seafood restaurant.
We discussed these issues with the restaurant manager, who was very apologetic. Unfortunately, there was no fix available. This seems to be a very touristy restaurant and we would not recommend it.
